Hanover Street Chophouse Ratings and Reviews
Incredible service- valet, coat check, warm greetings. We had a drink at the bar before our we sat and the bartender came out from behind the bar to take our order and bring us our drinks so we didn't have to lean over the patrons eating at the bar.
We requested a booth rather than a table and they accommodated right away. Our waiters, John and Dave, were extremely attentive and gave great recommendations. They talked to us like old friends but in a professional way!
All around 5 stars!!
Service was outstanding but the only draw back I have is that I sat next to a a very loud group of people who were talking pretty inappropriately and one guy even had jeans on. I believe they did not belong at such a high end place. The food was awesome, it is pricey but if you are there for a special occasion then it is well worth it. Oh, and valet parking is always a plus!
Second visit - Union Oyster House is the kind of place that makes me wish I had business more often in Boston. Great lobster, clams, oysters... all from local sources. And the restaurant has tons of character. You may end up sitting at John F. Kennedy's or Daniel Webster's usual table. Quite a place -- best seafood, history, and fun all under the same roof. Enjoy!
The Chophouse never disappoints. We dine there 2 to 3 times a year either before or after a presentation down the street at the Palace theater. The steaks are always exquisite and the service outstanding -- this time by Basil. As noted by others, it is a bit pricey, but well worth every penny.
Steak was great. Lobster was overdone. Table service was good.
Hostess/greeting/being seated was a problem. We were on time for our reservation and there were several open table. It took 15 minutes to be offered a table which was directly in front of the door. When we objected the hostess seemed annoyed we would question where to be seated. After another 5 minutes of standing around, we were offered another table. The arrogance of the hostess was a problem.
In addition I had reserved a table for Thanksgiving on OpenTable. It took the restaurant two weeks to call me to tell me they were not open on Thanksgiving. It seems very odd it would take management two weeks to realized they would not be open on Thanksgiving.
Celebrated my wife’s 47th birthday with family. It was the perfect place to go. Everything was incredible! The food and service is what you’d expect from a top notch New York restaurant. I can’t say enough good things about our evening. They went out of their way to ensure our family had a great experience!
Excellent food as always but the service left a bit to be desired this time over past visits; We had to try to call for their attention - when we could l catch it in between them waiting on their other (larger) parties.
If it had been our first time we might have rated it a DNR (Do Not Repeat)
This traditional chop house featured steaks and seafood served in an elegant atmosphere by professional, well-attired and attentive staff. We chose this venue based on its proximity to the Palace Theatre and its menu. We had an exceptional experience and will return again. During our visit, we noted available special dining rooms for group gatherings. The Main Dining Room was busy but filled only with quiet conversation.
Chef Ben did it again...Sunday night supper special was famed buttermilk fried chicken and biscuits. Hands down one of the best meals to date. Team Dave was on point and provided top notch service as always. Should definitely request his section. Hopefully this special makes its way to the Sunday night line up. Chef Ben is one of the most creative and talented chefs in NH. Really lucky to have him running the kitchen and it is firing on all cylinders.
The sea scallops wrapped in bacon we're perfect. My wife enjoyed the filet Oscar. I did not enjoy my porterhouse and the wife agreed. Very bland. Lobster bisque and French Onion soup were bland as well. Not worth the money. From Rhode Island and our fav steakhouse is Cedars at Foxwoods in CT. This does not compare.
