Hanover Street Chophouse Ratings and Reviews
Celebrated my wife’s 47th birthday with family. It was the perfect place to go. Everything was incredible! The food and service is what you’d expect from a top notch New York restaurant. I can’t say enough good things about our evening. They went out of their way to ensure our family had a great experience!
Excellent food as always but the service left a bit to be desired this time over past visits; We had to try to call for their attention - when we could l catch it in between them waiting on their other (larger) parties.
If it had been our first time we might have rated it a DNR (Do Not Repeat)
This traditional chop house featured steaks and seafood served in an elegant atmosphere by professional, well-attired and attentive staff. We chose this venue based on its proximity to the Palace Theatre and its menu. We had an exceptional experience and will return again. During our visit, we noted available special dining rooms for group gatherings. The Main Dining Room was busy but filled only with quiet conversation.
Chef Ben did it again...Sunday night supper special was famed buttermilk fried chicken and biscuits. Hands down one of the best meals to date. Team Dave was on point and provided top notch service as always. Should definitely request his section. Hopefully this special makes its way to the Sunday night line up. Chef Ben is one of the most creative and talented chefs in NH. Really lucky to have him running the kitchen and it is firing on all cylinders.
The sea scallops wrapped in bacon we're perfect. My wife enjoyed the filet Oscar. I did not enjoy my porterhouse and the wife agreed. Very bland. Lobster bisque and French Onion soup were bland as well. Not worth the money. From Rhode Island and our fav steakhouse is Cedars at Foxwoods in CT. This does not compare.
We frequent Hanover Chop. On any given night you can expect premium ingredients masterfully prepared. The dining room is classic, it's quiet, and service is impeccable. It is not a bargain, but if you don't mind paying for excellence, this is your place.
We were in last Friday and it must have been an off night. The chops we selected were chewy, fatty, and poorly seasoned. I left half of the ny strip on my plate. It was inedible. My wife had a special cut for the evening, it looked like a racquetball! She didn't get through a third of it.
We'll be taking a break from the chop shop for a while. Maybe they are focusing on their new endeavor Crown, I guess we will try there. Disappointing.
Excellent service from the time I drove into the parking lot. Very friendly and helpful staff, waiters were outstanding. They explained food choices well and we very accommodating when we asked for something a little different from the normal menu. Overall a great place for a business meal and most likely for a date as well.
The bar, food, wine list and service were top notch. The old world feel coupled with the live piano music made our birthday celebration a memorable one. We celebrated three late October birthdays on our visit. The staff was phenomenal and treated us like family! We would rank this restaurant up with any we have been to.
food and service amazing as always but five young children at next table (parents sat at a different table) increased noise level to where it was no longer enjoyable. When you pay that much for a meal, you don't expect to be seated near a bunch of noisy kids. I could do that at home for nothing. This, along with the significant price increase, makes me think I will no longer recommend ChopHouse as I have been doing for the ten years since I first went there.
This was our first time dining at this restaurant. Overall a wonderful experience. The staff was attentive and friendly. Food was very delicious and well portioned (we were full, but did not have leftovers). The ambiance was nice, but it was slightly louder than anticipated due to the large groups dining together. We enjoyed appetizers, steaks, desserts, and each had a drink. After tip our total was over $200.00. We expected this, and it was a special occasion, so worth the experience. However due to the cost, I can’t say we would dine there regularly, but perhaps again for a special celebration. I would recommend this restaurant for a special dinner or celebration!
My husband and I went to Hanover Street Chophouse at the recommendation of his son, who lives in Manchester. We decided to go for our anniversary, and we thought that everything was wonderful. We had the filet mignon which was fantastic, as was the iceberg salad, and the french onion soup. I had the pumpkin creme brûlée for dessert and it was also wonderful. The restaurant was busy on a Sunday night. The ambiance was elegant and the service was wonderful.
Chef Ben is the best chef in NH and the chophouse is lucky to have him. He goes above and beyond every time we eat at the restaurant which is weekly. No request is turned down. Tonight was an off menu Fried Chicken, biscuits and gravy...a family recipe that I was privileged to enjoy. I would eat this everyday if I could! Should be added to the menu.
Team Dave (and Joe) make it all come together service wise. Always looking out for the family and they bend over backwards to make the meal the best it can be! Highly recommend requesting them when dining at the chophouse! We consider them friends and they treat us the same!
Finally, have to thank Manager Jillian for allowing all of this to happen. Always has a smile and makes sure that everyone is happy and enjoying their meal.
This team is the best and we highly recommend going to dinner when they are all there!
Maybe you will be lucky and get the opportunity to order the fried chicken!
The service was amazing the steak special wasn't that great! Stick to the menu. Surf & Turf is outstanding I have had it twice and both were out of this world.
This place has the best scallops wrapped in bacon. Don't know how they do but I could just eat those.
Prices are very expensive so this is a once in a while place to dine for us.
Been to the Hanover Street Chophouse several times. Last time was a party of 18 for Easter dinner, but this trip was to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary. As always, there is nothing about this place that disappoints. Truly one of the finest restaurants in the state.
I must say, that I agree with some of the other reviews about the steak speacial last week (center of a rib eye wrapped in bacon)...sounded better than it was. Might have to stick to the filet choices in the future. If only there would be Beef Wellington on the menu ;-)
