Hanover Street Chophouse
Kitchen was backed up. Food was very slow in coming. Had our waiter, Richard, not apologized and kept us informed of the delay, we would have left before our meals were served.
The Fried Calamari was cold when it arrived at the table. The rings were nicely done (but cold). The tentacles had a strong fishy smell. We left them on the plate.
The hanger steak my wife ordered was so tough she couldn’t even chew it. It made for a very expensive treat for our dog. The ribeye steak was cooked well but was cold when served.
The menu is tired. Hasn’t really changed in the four years we have visited. The service has also been intolerably slow the last three times we ate here.
This is no “Big City” chophouse except for the prices.
Sadly, we will not return even for the professionalism of Richard.
Amazing food service and so accommodating
As always the Chophouse exceeded all expectations. When I asked for a specific rub they used to carry, one of the cooks came out to talk about options which he could whip up. And he came back after dinner to check and see what I thought!
That level of attention to customers will keep me coming back! (Nevermind the excellent service and always perfectly prepared food!)
Maybe it is the fixed menu on Sunday, but for the first time (out of many dining experiences at the Chophouse), my wife and I were not overly impressed with the food. Service was great, and the drinks were good. However, the entrees were not as good as we have had in the past.
Just one of the top class restaurants in America. Visit soon and see for yourself.
great evening all around. Our knowledgable and kind waiter Richard Colcord made our evening even more special.
Fantastic service & ambience for a special occassion. Sweet/beautiful people working there. Head's up there's valet parking (no choice) due to tiny parking lot, so if you're uncomfortable handing over your car, park on the street. Don't go past the intersection to next block, wildly bad/rough neighborhood. Made the mistake of stopping at store on opposite corner, one of the most nervous 15 minutes of my life waiting in line (& that's coming from someone who was homeless for several months in the 90's living on the streets of Boston--so not easily scared). Scallops were under done & filet mignon a little tough, but everything had beautiful presentation. Don't think people come here to strap on the old feed bag unless they're a millionare, but for an extra special occasion--yes, definitely
I would complain about the cost but everything was so delicious and service so great that I can’t possibly. Even after I took my ribeye home and microwaved it it was mouth watering.
We are keto and they were flexible about our restrictions and not only accommodated but made other changes that we didn’t asked for based on it and made his suggestions. We loved it and will be back, maybe not every week since our budget doesn’t support it but every chance we get.
We had a wonderful experience Saturday night at the Hanover Chophouse. Everything was excellent from our waitperson, Mairin, to the drinks , dinner and Gluten free dessert! We will be back soon!
Only the best!
We have not been to this restaurant very often, but each time our experience has been excellent. The food is always delicious and impeccably prepared. I had salmon and my spouse, filet. Both could not have been more perfectly done. Our waiter, Mark, was the first waiter in a long time that really deserved more than a 20% tip. He was so helpful and attentive to every detail of our dining experience, and even steered us clear of ordering an inappropriate amount of food. Thank you Mark!
For us, this is a special occasion restaurant and we will definitely be back for our next special occasion!
I took my family (wife & 2 girls 15 &8) for my wife’s birthday dinner. Before we left I called to adjust my reservation to an earlier time, not a problem.
When we arrived our table was ready and we were promptly greeted by our server. She quickly got us settled, took our drink order and offered to check on availability of “chicken nuggets” for my youngest. “No problem” she said, we usually do but let me make sure. That was the start of a perfect dinner and service or.
The excellent service continues throughout our meal, which were all perfectly prepared. 3 of us had steaks that were cooked exactly as we each ordered. The sides were great and well prepared also.
The 9 layer chocolate cake and creme brulee for dessert didn’t stand a chance!
A great birthday dinner was achieved and we all left very full and happy. We will definitely be back again.
We went to Hanover Street Chophouse to celebrate a birthday and had a wonderful experience. The food was creatively arranged, well prepared and delicious. Our server was serving many clients but at the same time provided us with seemingly undivided attention. The menu is pricey, but the experience is always positively memorable.
Pointed out when booking that we were celebrating three birthdays. In the past, wed find a table card recognizing this. No card, nor a mention of it this time. Somewhat disappointing since it was a special occasion.
It was absolutely wonderful! We loved dinner & dessert was to die for! We had their famous Carrot Cake again! We live in Dallas and were on vacation at Squam lake in Holderness NH. So we made it a point to get back to Manchester again after 6 years just to have some of this scrumptious carrot cake that was made by the very same lady, Erica Davis! Kudos, Erica!
It was very upsetting we have been to maybe 12-15 steak houses in the last 2 years and have never had to send a steak back. The steak was not what I expected .... not happy at all
Food was fantastic. Service just exceptional. Hanover Street holds their reputation of a Boston level Steak House experience in the heart of Manchester. Thanks for being consistent!
It was a very pleasant dining experience. The food was good. Medium to well done was more well done than I liked but it was good. Waitress was efficient and friendly. I would recommend to other people.
Fantastic service start to finish, the staff are truly amazing. Our server was very friendly and the perfect amount of attentiveness. It’s a very classy place and the food was amazing!
This is a wonderful place to go to treat yourself or loved one.
Always impeccable service! Asked for medium well and my husband ordered medium. Our steaks came out the same. The waitress did offer to bring back however I'm always hesitant to return food to a kitchen.
Knowledgeable and flexible waitstaff helped make a great dinner even better with a great wine pairing and some menu flexibility due to a gluten sensitivity. The wagyu strip and oysters Rockefeller were to die for.
I had notified the restaurant in advance that my wife and I would be celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary; so, I was disappointed to be seated right by the kitchen. The visual distraction was exacerbated by the kitchen noise and chatter and the constant traffic by our table. I suppose I ought to have asked to be seated elsewhere, but I did not want to take a chance of interrupting the flow of the evening for my wife who was not as distracted by the kitchen as I was.
Our waitress did an outstanding job and the food was flavorful and presented well.
Overall our experience was very good. Our waiter Dave could not have been more pleasant. Appetizer and salad were wonderful. I was a bit underwhelmed with my steak but she loved the scallops. We will be back as it was a good experience and nice relaxing place to have a fine meal.
Excellent food and service. Prices are reasonable given the quality you receive.
Nobody does it better!
One of our best meals ever!!
Great service , food was very good
Every aspect was wonderful, including our server. She was attentive and knowledgeable but unobtrusive, a perfect combination. We were seated in the corner booth at my request which is quite private. I had the best manhattan cocktails made more special with a choice of cherries. When we wanted different sides from the menu, we were accommodated happily. I made a comment on the survey card given us that we would appreciate a smaller main course, so we could enjoy more courses. Thank you for a very enjoyable evening.
It was are 15 year wedding anniversary and everything I ask for the restaurant accommodated right to a T.
Are waiters joe and David were absolutely outstanding!!!
And our food was on point right from the starter to the dessert.
Both my wife and I are going back for date night soon
Everyone needs to try there food
DC and KC
Our server Marin is outstanding!! Manager could have been more personable and showed genuine interest in us as patrons.
The food was exquisite. Service impeccable. Attention to detail...beyond compare.
Hanover Street is easily amongst the top 5 restaurants at which I've had the pleasure to dine. My advice - don't skip the add-ons. Everyone at the table agreed the steak ordered Au Poive was the best bite all evening.
We had a lovely evening and a delicious meal. The crab and scallop cakes were a little too strong on flavor.
Amazing food and impeccable service. Great for a special occasion.
Excellent as always. We continue to enjoy the excellent service and food.
First time at Hanover Street Chophouse. Three of us. Shared bacon-wrapped scallops, which were yummy. For entrees, one ordered the filet mignon. One ordered the surf and turf (with filet mignon). One ordered the NY strip. The NY strip was good. Properly cooked. Well presented. The other two dishes were well presented, but the filet mignons were disappointing. I tried to justify it by saying all kitchens have off nights. But the other two people I was with both work in high-end restaurants (one in Boston, one in a NH resort community)--and we all ultimately agreed that if your business is steaks, you don't get an off night on steak orders. The atmosphere was fine if you're into dimly lit, stuffy, dark decor. The cocktails were also terrible. Now, we enjoyed our time together and chose not to complain. We were celebrating a birthday and did not want to deal with the complication of sending dishes or drinks back. I'm sure the staff would have been accommodating had we chosen to. Our server was great. Attentive and good personality. But if you're looking for a perfect steak and have $275 (our tab) to drop on dinner and drinks, recommend you do it somewhere else. Not sure why this place gets such high ratings, but each to her own.
Excellent traditional Stake Centric Restaurant. Never a disappointment. Beautiful room and excellent service throughout. When in the area we always go there. Try it you will like it.
There were four in our party. The rack of lamb the veal and the steak were excellent. I ordered the sea bass a special that night. I must admit I was disappointed. While not bad it didn't have much flavor and I should have asked how it was prepared. A small piece of fish a few red potatoes and a couple of stalks of asparagus was underwhelming. We also ordered scallops The bacon had a maple flavor which was sweet and the scallops seems baked not broiled as we expected. Not good.
