Hannah's off The Square
We took our adult granddaughter & a friend for her birthday celebration. Liked the "casually elegant" ambience. The meals & deserts were all very good. The only nit to pick is that we wished the lobster bisque soups had more lobster bits in it. Otherwise, a very enjoyable experience by all!
Has potential BUT....
At this price-point you expect more focus on the little details. Food is outstanding BUT portions are too big. It is not possible to enjoy a 3-course meal without overstuffing yourself. Good quality bread should be a basic meal starter BUT here it is an extra for $1.50... that is a little petty at this price-point. Ambiance of the building is nice and the restaurant is a cut above average.
Tristan, our server, was friendly and professional. I had the lobster roll which was made to my liking. After many years living in Maine, I am always skeptical about this dish. Hannah's used the correct bun and the lobster was plentiful. The choice of the chicken soup added to my enjoyment. Drawn butter is always a plus. My friend enjoyed his chicken sault in bocca.
Service was TOP NOTCH and the food is uniquely wonderful. We have been here twice and both times had a fabulous evening. A special place.
Best meal. We were celebrating my birthday and the food was perfect along with the drinks. My go to restaurant for special occasions. Love them.
Good place for a quiet romantic evening. Food was just “ok”... my husband and I both really enjoyed it but it was not the best meal we’ve ever had for the price we paid. He enjoyed his ‘Auld Fashioned’ cocktail but the steaks were just subpar. Won’t be back, not because of service or value but just because it is nothing to write home about.
I have just moved to Denton and I've been to Hannah's five times and each time it has been wonderful. The service if wonderful, the food is fantastic and everyone is very friendly.
It is a family tradition to visit Hannah's for dinner and then attend the Nutcracker. This year was just like all the others - PERFECT! The food and wine were great. The service was fantastic and was timed appropriately. Our server knew that we had plans and made sure that we made it on time. We will be back!
Overall a nice restaurant and dining experience. Entrees are thier strong suit here
The food was really great especially the migas with bacon, sausage, and avocado. The banana nut bread was delicious! We had a big party for UNT graduation, and it worked out well. The place is decorated beautifully!
This is a beautiful restaurant. I made a reservation and they seemed very put out that we would have a large party for a graduation celebration.
When we got there our waitress was immediately snippy. She rushed us through lunch and asked us about the check when one of the guests had only eaten half of her food. I had 2 mimosas and I really don’t like being urged to hurry up and finish my drink. The food was overpriced. $17 for a salad with no meat- candied pecans, lettuce, and cheese. Gratuity was already added onto the check.
Maybe this is a better dinner restaurant?
Overall, I am shocked at the positive reviews for this place. Absolutely floored that in DFW, Hannah’s can get 4.5 stars I open table.
Service was decent. Showed up early for reservation, was able to seat us. Waitstaff was helpful, friendly, clean and attentive.
Upon arrival, the restaurant was out of two entrees, menus and could not make an old fashioned due to being out of rye whiskey.
We ordered a trout dish, beef tenderloin, cauliflower salad, and mozzarella stuffed meatballs. The trout was great. The steak was maybe the worst I have ever had at a restaurant, the meatballs were overcooked and the cauliflower salad was decent at best.
For the price point, DFW and Denton have restaurants that are significantly better for cheaper or the same price. Overall food quality is fair at best. Ambiance was nice.
The drinks were a rip-off, a glass of house wine$16.00, they charged us $20.00
We visited on Saturday evening and the restaurant was fairly busy. The food was very good but our service wasn't. Our waiter was slow to take orders, the food preparation was slow, and then we had a meal that wasn't correct (and had to be sent back). Fourth meal arrived as the other three were wrapping up.
Always amazing!!!! I always get the steak tartar, the off the square tenderloin, and carrot cake. 💕 service is ALWAYS amazing.
Our waiter, Jordan, was awesome. My beef tenderloin was huge and delicious. My husband’s salmon was not cooked as he requested ... he wanted it well-done and flaky, but it was under-cooked. The wines per glass are very pricey. Probably better to order a bottle. The ambiance was fantastic! I’d go back!
Adam was fantastic server that gentleman knows what he's doing we have been lucky to sit at his table twice. We frequent your restaurant for special occasions. The food was terrific I always end up eating the lamb burger and my wife gets Seafood of some sort I just think that the value may be a little bit over-the-top as far as price. But it is a once in awhile restaurant
Great table, good food and service!!
Made a friend’s birthday happy!!
Girls night and Hannah’s is always my go to! A couple friends had never been. Everyone loved it! We had to have pomme frites of course and some Hannaritas! I had the chicken saltimbucca (sorry if I spelled that wrong) and it was amazing as always! Others had the short ribs, off the square and the ahi tuna and loved everything!
We discovered this place on a trip home from the Lake House. So delicious it is becoming a regular place to visit! The food is as good as I can get at home in Vancouver Canada at less the price and less the lineup times! Fantastic! (And they know how to make a good whiskey sour!)
We met Sunday after church and had a fantastic meal at Hannah’s. Everything was fresh and delicious, the seating was comfortable, our server was attentive and friendly.
This was a great dining experience out, for all this I can highly recommend Hannah’s.
Always love our Sunday Brunches on the patio at Hannah’s
I am not writing this note for posting. It is feedback. We have been coming to brunch for at least a decade. Being quasi-vegetarians, we have settled on migas run through the garden as our default option. We usually eat there with another couple who often select the same entree. So this says nothing about the service, which is always excellent, nor the ambience, which is charming and relaxing. It is the communal opinion that the migas have more devolved over the years into a rather bland affair, devoid of flavor, zest, and proper seasoning, than having either evolved or at least retained their original panache. The consensus—since all four of us had migas—was that they were bland, soggy, and bad. I’m sure you’ve altered the preparation and presentation to appeal to a more generic audience, aware that mild, minimally salted, barely spiced entrees offend no one. But they don’t much please either.
Hannah’s serves consistently excellent food. The seasonal selection keeps it fresh. The only reason it doesn’t get a perfect score is because of its interior decor. The lobby area is in desperate need for a makeover.
All said, I’d highly recommend it for the food. De-lish!
We had an exceptional dinner and wonderful time. Our visiting guests from Washington DC were blown away with the service and food.
Excellent. All food made in house according to server--that includes the desserts. The flourless chocolate cake was the best cake I have add in years!
Service seemed to be really slow. We wanted to get dessert, but we had a show to get to. It took an hour and a half from seating to paying the bill, even though all we ordered was entrees: no appetizers, no bar drinks, no dessert. The food was excellent. The duck with the cherries and the veggie pancakes was unique. The combination really worked well together.
I travel throughout NA and dine in many different restaurants for business. We were seated in a back room and had to move the table away from the wall to provide room for the six of us. There were a number of us that ordered the Waygu steak. My steak was so sinewy I couldn't chew it. I didn't say anything until the others at the table that had ordered the Waygu expressed the same thing. The waiter volunteered to credit two of the steaks from our bill. I would have thought for sure this would have warranted a manager to address this personally. I heard about this the entire weekend in a joking manner from my customers. Very disappointed. I don't normally write reviews but this was certainly warranted.
Hannah's had been on our "must try" list since Child Bride and I moved to Denton two years ago, and we finally got the opportunity on my birthday. I am now asking myself why we waited. Our reservation was for 7:00 p.m. and we were immediately seated. Our server was superb, offering suggestions and honest descriptions of the dishes. After cocktails (delicious!) and sharing a Shrimp and Grits appetizer (which I have never been much of a fan of, but which was absolutely fantastic) Child Bride ordered Rosemary Smoked Duck Breast and I ordered Chicken Saltimbocca. Both dishes were perfect. We shared a Creme Brulee dessert, also right in line with the rest of our meal.
Hannah's is in an historic building a block off the downtown square, which has been tastefully restored, but not "modernized," and is very comfortable.
We are eager to go back and try Hannah's brunch menu, which looks delightful.
The eggplant Napoleon was incredible. The service was excellent.
The food was amazing. The service was a little slow, but ended up encouraging us to enjoy our evening rather than fret about the time. Overall wonderful experience.
Excellent menu and service! We take out of town guests to Hannah's who enjoyed the ambiance.
My favorite restaurant! Always great food and service and tons of gluten free options!
Really awesome food and service. I would definitely go back. Truly a fine dinning experience.
Simply my favorite place in Denton. And I'm from LA.
Hannah’s is the best restaurant in Denton. Great food, outstanding service and the atmosphere allows you to actually have a conversation with your guests. I especially enjoin the chefs creations and the desserts. You can’t go wrong at Hannah’s.
Not worth the money ... and service was slow . Soup and drinks the best part by far
Service was sub-par requiring having to seek out the server to get attention and he did not follow up on requests.
