At Hanjan and Danji we choose to use meat raised without antibiotics or growth hormones. Our fish are caught wild and are not overfished and endangered. We try to use as much organic and local produce as possible. No doubt these ingredients cost more but we believe the food we consume should be healthy and responsible as well as delicious.
One of best places to get really good korean good.
Not sure what to expect we found a delicious restaurant with welcoming and well trained staff who encouraged us through a menu the was at first quite new to us, but, in a short while, felt like home cooking with the staff's guidance. Great flavors. Interesting depths of spicing. And fun. We will be back soon. Kimchee pancakes, WOW.
Food was super oily and portions are small. I called to ask if they do anything special for birthdays and the person on the phone said “No, you come, you eat, you leave” which I thought was such a strange response. Food is ok but nothing to rave about
My party was there at the time of our reservation, however the hostess ignored us. Once she finally got to us it was 15 mins past our reservation and she said we were too late for our reservation and gave our table away!!!
Good food. Excellent atmosphere.
Very decent food and a unique ambience for a korean place. Will return!
Enjoyed the casual vibe matched with yummy dishes. Good for casual get together
Ordered the yellow tail sashimi & pork rib rack. Tasted amazing!!
Tolles Essen, nette aber schnelle Kellner, etwas laut.
At 7:15pm a quite empty space couldn’t accommodate a small request of NOT sitting on a communal table but on the more comfortable 4 top on the left side . ( we have been many times and knew the difference)
“ No the tables are for twos only “ came the answer thru the manager . Are u sure I requested as u are so empty etc etc .
“ sorry NO came the answer “.
One understands there is a plan and settings for the night but u are here to take care of the customer and make the experience happen on all levels . The management failed to execute a simple requested and as such helped create a negative experience.
And guess what ? As we left they had sat two four tops against the wall during our meal !!!!
This used to be a quiet restaurant where one could have a conversation. Not this time!
Great food and quick service. Had the best bibimbap I’ve ever had! Shishimi and rice cakes were to die for also.
Pickled daikon especially good. Yellow sashimi excellently spiced.
Hanjan is an excellent Korean restaurant in a neighborhood that has many choices. The Bimbimbap is delicious and the ambience is very conducive to actual conversations. Highly recommend.
I was so impressed by this place, from the drinks to the farmer’s meal to the food quality. The room is beautiful and friends from Sydney said it was the best meal of their NYC visit. Will be back for sure.
Casual spot with great food perfect for sharing. Main complaint is that they didn't have any tea which is suspect for any Asian restaurant.
Liked the food, felt a bit rushed. Always love going here though.
It’s a little expensive compare what it is, like a kimchi stew is $26 but the foods are great!!!!
Best of both worlds. Rather it’s the authentic korean meal or menu enjoyed by all, hanjan’s meticulous attention to ingredients and cooking details keep me coming back.
Excellent Korean food prepared with care. The mukeunji kimchi jjigae is amazing. Can't wait for the next menu item that uses old kimchi.
One of the best restaurants in NYC! Strongly recommend for anyone looking for a filling Korean meal
The restaurant staff was welcoming, warm, positive and friendly - even at the late hour we dined. The restaurant itself is chic and inviting. We ordered edamame, dumplings, kimchi rice, wild yellowtail sashimi, and General Cho's chicken, and we are still talking about the food as the best meal we have had in a while. Kimchi rice is unique and really fulfilling - something I want to eat at every meal. Dumplings were perfection - all were uniformly crispy and sized and the tofu inside was a delicious taste and texture surprise. Sashimi was fresh and delightful with a little spice. We plan to return for these again and for more of the menu. A great place to entertain out of town guests!
Always great good and amazing service
Very local, casual, low key place but excellent food.
We love David & his team!
Fabulous food. First time, didn't disappoint. Wine was very good too.
All in great experience. I'll be back.
Authentic Korean cuisine at it's best! I just returned from Seoul and if I closed my eyes, my taste buds told me I was still there!
Not bad, just not particularly interesting. The starters with raw fish and seaweed are better, cleaner to the palate. A lot of the main courses are just the usual flavors, too heavy on the sauces, too much sugar added to the sauces. Kind of overwhelming the palate for no good reason. Still not bad, just not exciting. That kind of heavy food that can be eaten every once in a while and then put aside for months.
I came here after seeing the Naengmyeon (cold noodle dish) being recommended online. Went above and beyond my expectations. The noodles were firm, the brisket was very flavorful, and my favorite was the pickled cucumber. All of these components matched so well with the unbelievably delicious and ice cold broth, it’s all you need on a hot nyc day :)
The spicy noodle broth was on point as usual. However, the half and half chicken wings left much to be desired. The flavor was not good and I felt like it is overpriced at $20 for only 6 wings.
Excellent food - even better than Danji - in a nicer, more spacious location. We all loved it!
Great food and nice ambiance. We didn’t like how the servers kept trying to clear dishes that we weren’t finished with. Regardless, I’d still go back for the food.
Had high expectations given good reviews but food was just OK, or even subpar considering the premium price it charges compared to regular Ktown restaurants. Good thing we didn’t spend more money getting the restaurant week menu.
We love it, David and his crew are just awesome!
Came here twice for lunch over Restaurant Week recently. For the appetizer, the first time I ordered the garlic fried chicken and 2nd time was the cured cod roe. For mains, I ordered the hot beef bibimbap both times. The fried chicken was overly sweet and coated with flour, I couldn't taste the chicken. Cod roe came out really fast, it tasted ok. I ordered the hot bibimbap the 2nd time hoping it was better but both tries were just mediocre. Not sure if the chef changed or it's a restaurant week menu but the food is definitely not as refined and good as before.
Everything was just meh. Not the best kimchi fried rice but not the worst. Everything was pretty much average and you won’t be too disappointed or blown away.
Very hip place for Korean food 👍
Food was incredible. I wish we could have sampled everything on the menu. The staff was also outstanding. I will be back soon.
Incredible food, above average service, nice ambiance (minus loud people at the bar). Wish they served tea though.
Excellent food, caring service. Great bar.
