Hangers Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I usually love Hanger’s… I reserved a table for seven of us… Our waitress was way over extended. I know it’s the holiday season, however she was flustered the entire time . She was busy ! We received our soup, salad literally one minute before our dinner entrée. We were halfway through dinner, when she brought bread, after requesting. Several small details fell in the cracks, lemon for water, butter & more. Two of us ended up not even eating our soup, which was tomato bisque (my favorite). When brought to her attention… It was ice cold… She didn’t even offer to take it off our check We had to request drink refills over and over. We were overcharged for drinks, she did correct. Did apologize, several times, however… It was a celebratory event. It would have been nice not to have the interruptions/constant correction I couple of my guest for first timers… They were not impressed !
Food: I had the small prime rib ($24). The flavor was good, but the cut was thin--maybe 1/2 inch, at most. I ordered it medium, but it was completely done. Others in our party ordered the ribeye, and the salmon. They said they liked their meals. The restaurant did not have milk for my son. Service: the restaurant was understaffed, and service was slow.
Went for a date night with my husband. He tried to order a mint julep (Kentucky staple) and was told they were out of fresh mint...really?! My filet was good but my husbands NY strip was super fatty. He knows it’s a fattier cut if meat but half of his plate was chewed fat, gross. I think he got a bad cut but not sure. Husband said he wasn’t impressed.
Open til 9. Made reservations for 8:15. Only ones in the restaurant. Server was ok but seemed unsure of himself. Cocktails were great. Food was ok but overpriced. Old fashioned steak house atmosphere but there are no great places to eat in a Richmond KY.
At 9:00 sharp they turned off the music, turned up the lights and might as well have said please get out
My shrimp was like rubber. My husbands steak was sent back because it was not cooked as he asked. When he got the second one it was worse. We took it home for the dogs. We ate there a few years ago and we had a wonderful dinner. Service, atmosphere and food was exceptional. We just relocated here and wanted to celebrate at your establishment. It was terrible. Our server was very nice and made every effort to make things right, but you can not "uncook" overlooked food. We will not return.
I hate to leave a bad review but this was very disappointing. We were attending a concert at the EKU Center so I was looking for some place close by and found this on Open Table. We had 6:00pm reservations on a Saturday night. The place was empty! We ordered a Cosmopolitan and a beer to start. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. He recommended the Cheese Cigars as an appetizer. It sounded interesting so we went for it. Basically it was mozzarella cheese inside a wonton, very bland. The house salad was average. We both ordered steak, a NY Strip and I ordered the Hangers Steak with broccoli and sweet potato casserole. Both steaks were ordered medium rare and were flavorful but inedible due to the amount of grizzle in each piece. If it wasn't fat it was meat that couldn't be chewed. We laughed at how much chewing was involved in each piece and finally gave up eating it. No, we did not send it back as we should have. In fact, we ended up giving the waiter a 25% tip!
The prices were good, the food was good – my husband had the crabcakes and really thought they were full of crabmeat and quite good. The dinner salads were a good size and a side salad was a good bargain. I ordered fondue and they were out of it so my dinner kind a tumbled down. Everyone else had ordered as head I and the waiter came back to tell me they no longer had what I had ordered so I just sort of winged it and ordered us dinner salad and some broccoli – not exactly the most exciting meal in the world!
Enjoyed a very good meal! The Caesar Salad was the best I've had anywhere. No big "heels" in the Romaine, very lush, dark green. Croutons were "melt in your mouth" tender. Both dinners were very good. Service was prompt and attentive. Ordered desert to go. Won't do that again. The only downside was the price of desert. Overall, a gread dining experience. We intend to go back, but won't order desert!
We had steaks, which were well prepared and we enjoyed our sides as well. It was nice to have dinner in a place where you can have quiet conversation and no problems hearing. Our waitress was new and we had to ask for bread, which was tasty, but the rolls were very small and only 2 came out in the basket. The only real disappointment of the evening was our drinks - they were weak. Would not order mixed drinks
I went for Valentine's Day. Although the food was ok. It was not great. Not worth the drive from Lexington. If you live local to Hangers it's fine. The only caveat is Valentine's Day typically has a standard menu where ever you go. This dinner did have a standard menu so I did not get to sample there regular cuisine. Still, I won't be going back to find out.
Was looking for an off the chain restaurant in Richmond, and happens to be the only or one of a few locally owned in the area. Wasn't sure what to expect, but pleasantly surprised. Great steaks, (tomato soup for starters was tasty) and fantastic bourbon flight options. Service was friendly and food came out on a timely manner. If back in the area, will definitely dine here again.
Oh my gosh!!! Hanger's Steakhouse was the PERFECT date night here in Richmond!! The food was amazing!! The wine was perfectly paired! The atmosphere was the best!!!! I am totally in love with this place!!! Need a wonderful date night? You've got to come check out this place!!! It's the BEST steak dinner in Richmond Ky... Hands down!! And it easily rivals everything Lexington restaurants have to offer! I'm beyond impressed!
Nice ambiance, yet obvious this is where the money went. My date and I both ordered steaks medium rare, and they were cooked medium well. The waitress was kind enough to take them back. Yet, when the new steaks came back they again were medium well and I had a different cut. Also, the baked potatoes were burnt and the Caesar salad was plain.
Hangers looks appealing in many ways, yet the quality of the food is on par with a chain steakhouse.
They also had a very light crowd for a Thursday evening. Maybe 15-20 people were there between 6:30 and 8:30
Has potential, yet needs a qualified chef to upgrade the food.
First time visiting Hangers. The Christmas decorations were amazing, but it was obvious the restaurant would still be beautiful even after the holiday decorations were removed.
I had the shrimp and grits, and it was ok. Someone else may consider it the best shrimp and grits ever. Perhaps a matter of opinion. My friend had the salmon, and it was great. Cosmopolitans were very good. My disappointment lay in the price difference (extra $2.00) in a "classic" side item and a "signature" side item. Can't sides just be sides, for Pete's sake? Yes, there may be some that are technically more expensive to offer, but doesn't it work itself out in the long run? People don't like to feel "nickeled and dimed" to death just trying to choose sides to go with their entree.
The service was great; my friend and I were treated as if we were the only people in the restaurant. Overall, a very good experience, and will plan to return.
I loved this place. With the exception of the service. The people were very friendly. The food was good. But we had to wait to be seated. There was no on at the door to greet us. It also took along time for a server to come and bring drinks, appetizers and the main course.
Normally a great experience. This time not so. Made a reservation for a family birthday. Our table was not ready so we were put in a room with a large loud table having their Christmas party. I think our table was given to another group that walked in. Not enjoyable. Server recognized the issue but nothing she could do. Uncomfortable for us and the other group. Should have gone somewhere else. If we come back won't let that happen again.
