I just had eggs cooked to order and sampled the potatoes and meat choices, as well as a belgian waffle. There were lots of other options, but I stuck to my usual and had coffee tea and water and prompt service as well. All was good!
The view overlooking SFO Airport intensified this wonderful experience. The steaks we had were first rate.
Wasn't expecting much, but was very pleasantly surprised. Food was actually good and service was as well.
Service started well, but waiter disappeared for 40 minutes after bringing entrees. Two requests to produce our waiter yielded no result, in fact he served two tables next to us and didn't acknowledge us. No offer of dessert, coffee, or after dinner drinks. It was date night and we usually order all courses. Would go back but would not accept a seat in his section.
Food was good. The service was very good. very over priced for the amount of food.
If you ordered just main dish and no appetizer. or salad or side dish of a vegetable or potato or dessert, it would cut down the bill.
Unfortunately, Hangar Steak is still a restaurant in a hotel. I tries hard to be upscale but necessity dictates a fairly pedestrian experience. Many patrons came in shorts and jeans and looked like they just stepped off a plane (which they probably did!) Flat screens throughout the restaurant are showing the the "fireplace channel". Food is good but just misses the mark - watermelon arugula salad needed cracked pepper and no tomatoes - bacon wrapped dates needed more cheese - cedar wrapped salmon was barely cooked. The kitchen must be somewhere else in the hotel as we waited a bit long for food. The bar in the lobby seemed packed and fun. Appetizers and drinks there would be nice (view is great!) but eat somewhere else for the price.
Overall experience is great! The server is good. The food tastes wonderful, especially the prime rib-eye and the bacon wrapped dates. The rack of lamb is okay.
The greeter at the restaurant is a big plus to my experience in here. He has everything ready by greeting you with your name when you arrived. And always wear a big smile in his face. Thank you to Hangar Steakhouse. Both my fiancé and I had a great time!
We have been here two times-- This time, the server and food service was VERY slow. The steak and fish were AWESOME but the sides leaves alot to be desired. My sister ordered the rack of lamb and she said meat was Great-- the sides that come with it were cold.
I am in this restaurant almost every Tuesday evening as I stay in the hotel for business. I know many of the restaurant staff and the food is excellent. The view of the water/airport is relaxing and romantic. Tables by the window are the best. This particular week, we were not as satisfied with the server. Albeit friendly and sweet, not as efficient and attentive as the others in the months past. Perhaps she was new to the establishment or having an 'off' day. I would return regardless. She wasn't terrible, just not as efficient.
Nice views and good food. Our steaks were prefectly prepared and the salad was great. Good selection of wines too.
It was a special occasion - my son's Birthday and it was not even acknowledge. We were able to move from our table in the middle of the room to one near the window and see the airplanes land and take off from SFO airport. Waitress was nice. Food was nothing special. My crab cakes were to think and too much filler. My son like his free range roasted chicken and his girlfriend had the salmon was she said was goo.
The service was all right. The steak was tender but not cooked to order. The price didn't equal the quality of the food.
My husband and I met 17 years ago outside this Marriott. We return every year to Hangar Steak to celebrate. We are always treated like visiting royalty. Terrific view, ambience, food. Our waiter, Chris, is always gracious. TREAT YOURSELF. For smaller plates or just drinks, you can enjoy the Flight 101 Lounge, too.
Hangar Steak is located in the Marriott Hotel. The ambiance is very sterile. It is as if they are going through renovations. When asked, the wait staff said that has been the layout of the restaurant for some time. Two of us had rib eye steaks. The steaks did not live up to the restaurant name. They were thin and tough. For the price a complete injustice. One of us had the lobster ravioli. It was not a ravioli at all. It was more of a bouillabaisse with a ravioli tortilla on the bottom and top. The lobster was like rubber. Then the cocktails. We had two different glasses of the same cocktail. The local pour and the tourist pour. Nothing was cheap. If it was not for the great wait staff, the whole experience would have been a bust.
It is pleasant to dine while enjoying the view of the bay and airport. The breakfast buffet features made to order omelets, pancakes, and waffles, as well as fresh fruit and breakfast meats.
food fair, service fair, prices ridiculous, ambience reminded me of a high end diner. Nothing about this restaurant was good. Waste of an evening
Awesome service! Delicious food!
Nice dining option at the Marriott Airport Hotel. Lovely food pairing with view of planes taking off. We also had very good service.
Our server was Vidal and he was exceptional. Very friendly and warm, The hotest greeted us immediately with a smile . Normally I do not expect the food to be outstanding in a Chain Hotel, hwoever this was was one of the BEST.
Hangar's Mother's Day Sunday brunch is great. The food is good and so is the variety. They have very polite servers and during this event, they give all mothers a rose stem. The view of the airport is wonderful. It's a good idea to call in advance and make reservation for the main floor as it gets booked very fast. They do a really good job of decorating everything in white. Live music also adds a little class to the experience as well.
The only negative (it's really not a negative) is that the first year we went when my daughter was born, I remember more white decorations which added to the beauty of the place.
Went here for Mother's Day Brunch. It was a great day. Food selection was great, sitting area in lobby was spacious, great view, great service, had a crafts area for the kids to make grandma, mom, and auntie, some mother's day cards and bracelets. We have been to this hotel many times, and one thing always rings true, the people who work here seem to really like their job, and treat the customers accordingly. Place was over staffed, which is a rarity in this day and age, which only meant that customer service was an A+. I was in a motorized scooter, and people were constantly asking if I needed help, could they carry my plate for me, or get me anything. Would definitely recommend.
The food and service at this restaurant is just average. Everything is overpriced. My wife and I each ordered the Sea Bass for $32 a plate. My cut was obviously from the middle section of the fish and was okay. However, the plate they served my wife obviously had the tail piece. There was very little fish. They had left the skin on our fish with the skin side up which was unusual, but we were able to work around that. Our two meals with one beer and one glass of wine would have been $91 without a Restaurant.com discount coupon. We can get better meals at many restaurants on the Peninsula in the $75 range.
Cocktails were overly sweet. Food was tasteless with an unattractive presentation. I would never go here again.
great steaks. delicious food. will definately repeat, steak will melt in your mouth
I thought I was doing a steak lunch for 6 person when I made the reservation. When our party went to the restaurant we were surprised that the restaurant was serving Easter brunch. We did not anticipate this and were not prepared for this kind of Sunday lunch. A family of 3 was visiting from Hong Kong and I want them to be impressed. They were not. We ended going to another restaurant nearby.I asked if the restaurant can prepare steak or hamburgers he told me that the restaurant cannot as they are doing the Easter brunch.
We loved the food and the way it was presented on the plates. I love lamb and it was delicious to the palate as well as the eyes!
Had a great time and meal. Steaks were perfect. View is amazing. Service was unmatched. Thanks Hanger Steak for the great experience.
We had a table by the window and could watch the planes land and take off at SFO. Food was excellent, nicely presented, and plentiful. Our party had both types of tacos, flat bread pizza, and pasta. We were there at lunchtime, so it was very quiet. I'm sure we will return again!
Food was just OK. At this price point, do yourself a favor and go downtown.
Went for my wife's birthday on our last night in SF (staying at a nearby hotel due to an early flight next day). Great steaks, perfectly cooked. I had a Ny Strip which was perfect (they can be tought at times, but this was buttery tender). My wife likes her ribeye prepared a particular way and they nailed it. Great salads & sides too.
Very nice table in a secluded corner. Our server, Calvin, was fantastic. Very helpful and accommodating. At one point he ran to the other side of the hotel to find the last bottle of the Cabernet we ordered. And then, at the end of the meal, a surprise champagne toast and molten chocolate desserts. We had a great time and great food, and couldn't ask for anything more. Thanks Calvin & Hangar Steak
We had a great celebration dinner here and they even acommodated our party with a baby and made us (and other customers) comfortable.
Everything was great until it came time for dessert. It took forever and the dessert was mediocre.
Expensive for what you get. Steaks salty and overcooked.
Dinner for 3 with wine close to $300 was a bit pricey. I think the TV image of a crackling fire was way too tacky for such a high priced menu.
Came here for New Year's Eve dinner. Nice for a hotel restaurant. I ordered filet mignon which was amazing. A bit pricey but the steak was worth it. Service was not the best. The waitress seemed annoyed. But the food made it worth it.
First off..this is a hotel restaurant..so prices reflect that. You really just need to look at the fact you're paying for the view.
Our server was really sweet..but the service was extremeley slow. Luckily we didnt have anyplace to be..becuase it was easily 40 minutes between ordering and each course.
I had the Ribeye steak, which was AMAZING! I did not believe it would be aged beef as indicated, but if it wasn't, it sure passed for it! Seriously, great food, good view, and a great atmosphere. Go enjoy some surf and turf as you see fit.
The food and service were good, but was hoping for more of a dining experience given the prices.
We had Christmas buffet. Overall it was good. But the atmosphere was too "hotelie". I was expecting a more formal atmosphere. The "serve yourself" was OK but there was no attention from the wait staff. I would probably go back and have dinner inside the restaurant, like the pictures on your website. Overall, it was a good price for what foods were serve, i.e., the clams were really good, and the crab legs and langostino were fresh. I could have just pigged out on that. The prime rib was very good. The rest of the sides, dessert were just OK. It did look like the staff that organized it works very hard. And, you have to give people credit for having to work on Christmas and wait on strangers.
My husband and I really like the special menus and decorations for Thanksgiving and Christmas. Great memories! And the restaurant even gave us a good photo of ourselves to take home.
