Hangar Steak Ratings and Reviews
Great food and service. Wonderful view of the planes landing and taking off. We were seeing off our daughter and friends to Europe the next day and wanted a nice dinner send off.
The price is pretty steep but as stated it is a great place to dine. Also a nice bar and lounge area.
A bit disappointed with the lack food variety: There was no bacon/sausages. No pancakes or blintzes. The seafood was limited-prefer raw oysters. Missed original Eggs Benedict-didn't like the chorizo ones . The fruit was limited and was for dipping in chocolate. However, my mother was happy with the restaurant and when all is said and, it's all that really mattered on her day!
Hidden away in the Marriott, one would never think to look for such a wonderful restaurant there. But I am definitely glad I did.
Nice wine list, with a broad enough range to cover all tastes and budgets, regardless of the occasion.
From appetizers to dessert, everything prepared perfect and a great presentation.
I'll be back. Soon and often.
Accepting it is an hotel restaurant the visit was satisfactory, the food beyond criticism but nit memorable. The view across to the SFO runways was unusual and worth the visit.
The dining room was dull and devoid of atmosphere. Redecoration and refitting in bright light colours would transform the experience. Repositioning seating so tables for 2 or 3 could look toward the view would be appreciated. We ere two people, I had my back to the view - turn the chairs 45degrees and both could have experienced the hotels best view.
An investment in a refurb and style would make the most of this restaurants best features.
Thank you to Hangar Steak's team for ensuring a great meal and engagement and birthday celebration. We had a wonderful time, the service was excellent and food was superb! We also appreciated the hospitality that the Marriott management extended to us during dinner!
First of all, I was hoping for a steakhouse ambiance but instead it had all the ambiance of a folding table and chairs in a conference room.
Food selection was good, not great. The prices a tad higher than expected but then again they are catering to people on corporate expense accounts. $28 for a mediocre mushroom risotto?!?! $14 for a California Chardonnay that would be cheaper 3000 miles away? I did enjoy my chowder in sourdough bowl. The Caesar salad was over dressed and the presentation though nice was a big waste. Bread was served cold.
Biggest disappointment was our server. It was a quiet night but she was neither engaging or attentive. Even when told her we would take our check it took her about 10 minutes to bring it to us...so long that we charged to our room to avoid having to wait for her any more!
The maitre d', before seating us, immediately asked if we were over 21. I felt as if I was at some exclusive bar. He was very impersonal and stuck up in his black suit. Our waitress was friendly and attentive when she actually came to our table.....seemingly longer than average wait times between mAin course, dessert, and receiving the tab. The restaurant was empty the might we came with perhaps maybe 4 other seated tables. We ordered the lobster tail, ribeye steaks and seasonal veggies, and strawberry shortcake for dessert. The lobster tail was fine, but the steaks (ordered medium rare) came out medium well. I eat steaks quite often and know the difference. Sure we could have easily sent them back but we were hungry (and we know not to have food redone). The most disappointing aspect of our experience is that this restaurant prides itself in its dry-aged steaks. Our waitress made no mention of this or anything to "sell" or "inspire" us to order anything in particular from the menu. Will mot come back unless staying at the hotel where this restaurant is located.
Went there for the Christmas buffet. Nice buffet spread with great presentation and decorations. Service was good. Price for the buffet was a little on the high side. However, not many places open during Christmas with a nice ambiance, so overall good experience.
I had a memorable meal at Hanger Steak earlier this year and was looking forward to a return. Unfortunately, my return was much less memorable. The food was excellent. The steak was well-prepared and very good. This time, however, the ambience was mediocre, the service was fair and the wine list was dismal. Given I was so close to wine country, I expected a better wine selection. In fact, the wine list didn't include years of vintage, so I could not determine whether the cab or pinot varieties being offered were good or great vintages.
The service was slow but we were not in a hurry. the Steak was not what you would expect for 42.00. Sea Bass was tasty but again, for the price I could have gone many other places and gotten better value. While not extensive the menu had a bit of something for everyone. Not impressed and would not return.
We had a early lunch on Thanksgiving day because my wife had to work that night at the airport. The view was spectacular, the service was perfect and food from the menu was very good. More then we expected considering the main restaurant was preparing for the large buffet
There were three of us, two ordered ribeye steak- one medium well and medium rare and one ordered medium rare New York steak. The ny steak was cooked properly but ribeye a were over cooked and dry. The seasonal veggies consisted of butternut squash and brussel sprouts- nothing special. Very disappointed with the food. Service was better.
We enjoyed our meal here. The food is almost always exceptional. What was a bit of a challenge this time was the service. It was slower at times than we'd prefer. One thing I don't think you should have to do in a fine dining establishment is call over your server. We had to do this a few times unfortunately. Otherwise a very good experience.
While the view of the AP was impressive the service was very slow. The food was very salty (was warned by previous reviews) and portions were over generous. Date appetizer was delicious but they missed date pits..careful !
I waited over 20 minutes for dessert and finally had to get up and speak to the manager in order to get my ck and leave...overall not a great experience for the price...
Great place to visit with dear friends. Food was tasty, attractive and generous portions! The view from the dining room was wonderful! Saw planes taking off and landing! The day was bright and sunny which to the lovely view.
The server was attentive and pleasant & food was delivered in a timely fashion.
After a pleasant lunch & dessert we all took part of our meal home! We certainly will return to Hangar Steak again!
We had an overnight at the San Francisco Airport at another hotel that didn't have a restaurant. We stumbled upon the Hangar Steak at the Marriott and enjoyed a wonderful meal, with a view out over the Bay and the planes arriving and leaving.
They also have a more casual dining area in the lobby that also has a great outlook and a good place to fill in time until your next flight.
Next time I would stay at the Marriott simply because of these very pleasant restaurants and relaxing areas.
So we've all been to awful restaurants in airport hotels. They know they've got you trapped because you're there for some work trip, so they're serving some version of Applebee's+ for triple the price. Let me tell you: this is not that place! Fantastic local seafood and prime aged beef, all with a great view of the landing planes across the inlet of the harbor. The service is good, but not great -- my used silverware lingered on the table too long, and no one offered to replace it for me. But the food is amazing; I cannot more highly recommend the cioppino, which was nearly overflowing with fantastic seafood (much of it local), including sea bass, clams, mussels, shrimp, crab, and lobster. I've always lived in a coastal state, so I know good seafood when I have it -- and this was excellent seafood!
