Hana Japanese Restaurant
While offering the most extensive sake list & the origin of sake tasting rooms in California, Danny Pitassy - Beverage Director/Sake Sommelier - will present each different sake with it's own unique and distinct flavor notes in a fashion that even as a beginner, you would be able to come up with your own tasting notes the next time around. Most importantly, behind the sushi bar will be chefs that perfected their craft in Tokyo to meticulously translate the Kantō flavors of Chef Owner Ken Tominaga here in Northern California.
Best Sushi in the north bay !!
Overpriced for the level of service and the sub-par sushi. Do not order the tuna poke ...it is a pile of spicy tuna, would not return
We celebrated our son's 31st bday at Hana. All of us had the Omekasi. A pricey evening, but lots of fun with amazing dishes, each done beautifully. The best part of the evening was the Sommelier, Danny. He really made the evening for us. He presented a saki paring for each course, explaining why each saki went with what we were about to eat. He gave a brief explanation about each saki as well. He answered all of our questions, and explained some of the dishes we were not sure about. He truly made it a night worth remembering.
Excellent food, service and ambiance. The best Japanese restaurant north of the Golden Gate Bridge.
Spectacular Omakase. Skip the optional sashimi course and focus on the perfectly seasoned and presented Nigiri.
Great food. Some of the best sushi I’ve ever had but the service was so slow.
This is a wonderful place for a special date night. Amazing sushi, I believe it is the best sushi option in Sonoma County.
A hidden gem in Rohnert Park. We always have dinner here before a concert at the Green Music Center 12 minutes away. Try the sake flights if you know nothing about sake. Staff here are always so gracious and welcoming. There are just too many things on the menu to choose from which makes ordering a challenge.
One of the best sushi dinners I have ever eaten. Superb and understated.
Food was fabulous as always. The service for the sushi was very slow-45 minutes to get two rolls. This was the second time. It has to do with the large to go orders at 11:30. Expect very slow service at early lunch for sushi orders.
Authentic Japanese cuisine. Look forward to trying other menu items. Plenty of parking.
Awesome!! Best sushi in the north bay by far!
My wife and I never (never!) have had a less than excellent experience here. When we desire Japanese cuisine , the choice is always clear.
Hana is an outstanding sushi/Japanese restaurant. The quantify of the ingredients and the preparation of them is superior to other sushi restaurants I've experienced in Nor Cal. Their prices are very high, but I believe the prices matches the quality and freshness of the fish.
Alberto was an amazing waiter and we enjoyed his recommendations and service. Sushi was very fresh and chef obviously loves what he does. Will definitely be coming back again!!
While many “Japanese” restaurants are just raw fish based, Hana has a great select of cooked authentic Japanese dishes. If you think Japanese cuisine is just raw fish (which by the way is excellent at Hana) go to Hana and get a whole range of Japanese food. In addition to good food they have a large selection of sake and spot on service
This is one of my go to places. The best Sushi in Sonoma county!
Lovely tasting menu and sake pairing - sushi is never cheap but the service is excellent and really takes care of you. Wonderful special occasion restaurant!
We had black cod which was on the menu but also had the grilled fresh water eel which was not. Both were excellent. To start with we had kinpira (lotus root) which was also not on the menu but available when asked. The service was very attentive and the seasonal sake was delicious. Highly recommend this to anyone who want authentic Japanese food — not just sushi.
One of the best in Sonoma County! And you can actually have a conversation with your friends.
Always consistently excellent sushi and Japanese entrees.
The food sand service are consistently excellent.
Hostess and lady bussing tables outstanding, smiles and genuine happy to be there.
The chopsticks and napkin on the table had more personality than my server, Alberto. Never a smile, nothing genuine, just robot functions to get the paycheck. Flat affect. Nothing about him displayed he should be in the business of hospitality. He did not deserve any of the tip, should all go to the busser.
Food outstanding, excellent quality.
Location has plenty of parking, ambience inside is traditional.
Almost a hidden gem. Excellent Japanese restaurant experience.
Fresh & delicious. Loved the Scottish trout and wild Bream, both of which I had never tasted before.
Always meet our friends there and we had great sale service too
Very good, many items we have never tried.
Sushi was very good, sukiyaki good. The problem was that my wife’s sushi was served 10 or 15 minutes after my sukiyaki, and then only after we asked a waiter to find our waiter and ask when her dinner was coming. Toward the end of the meal bus boys asked —twice—if they could clear our plates before we were finished. We felt rushed. Odd, because it was still early and no one was waiting for a table. Overall, a disappointing experience.
Best sushi I. The bay area
The prices have gone up sharply it seems like. Food was excellent, as usual
As usual- excellent food and service in simple but quaint environment.
Our favorite restaurant.
Best sushi we’ve ever enjoyed.
My wife and I have gone to Hana's (or at least to the Japanese Restaurant at their location) several times over the years, and we have always enjoyed the food and the service there. We haven't been there often lately.
We wanted to see our grandson and his family. They live in Rohnert Park, and we wanted to get together at a nice restaurant. We remembered Hana, and made reservations there.
We were all very pleased with our dining experience.
Dined there twice while I was attending a meeting at the hotel next door. First night I specifically went for the black cod. To my surprise on a Thursday night they didn’t have it. I found something else. Service was slow and the server didn’t appreciate my annoyance of not having the cod. Visited with a colleague the next day for lunch. They did accommodate us without a reservation. My chicken teriyaki was fishy tasting and medium rare. My colleague had the salmon and she said it was also fishy tasting. I know this place has great reviews and probably is the best restaurant in rhonert park. But, Ehe.
Hana not only has excellent sushi and sake but also cooked dishes as well. Their black cod and sukiyaki is something you should not miss.
Excellent Sushi! We have come to expect the best from this restaurant and have never been disappointed.
The food at Hana is always outstanding as is the attentive service.
We were quite disappointed because we orderded negitoro rolls and were told that they were out of negitoro. Then we ordered negihama rolls instead and we were told they were out of negihama too!
We came to dine at our favorite rest for our 20th Anniversary. Chef Ken created an amazing meal for us. Our food was amazing and the service was wonderful.
The service was terrible. After we were seated, no server came by, so eventually we had to go to the front to ask for a server. We were a party of four. Two received dinners at the same time, the third dinner came about 10 minutes later but was wrong, and the last one came after another 10 minutes. No apologies or explanations from the server. The menu was great and the food was good, but dishes that should have been hot were only lukewarm. We were so disappointed!
great experience. service was good. food was good and the setting was good. really enjoyed the simple design of the restaurant. it was a bit pricey. it won't stop me from revisiting in the future. it will limit how many times i can go though!
