We sat at the sake bar. Danny was our server, and his knowledge of the fresh fish available was incredible! He also steered us in the right direction for the perfect sake to go with our meal. This was the most exotic sushi experience I have ever had!
Wonderful restaurant. the food is always good and the service is friendly and attentive.
Food presentation and taste is different
the hamachi kama was extraordinary - would order it every time! But the shumai was barely hot, should be close to mouth burning, although the flavor was good. The sake selections is very fun and the sake sommelier was very knowledgeable and helpful. Service was good but when I mentioned the luke warm shumai the server just nodded and smiled and made no effort to address the issue.
The food was simply delicious. The server was disconnected and disinterested. The bus staff were good. We will be back for the lovely flavors. Simple spinach and sesame was just perfect as was the miso soup and the teriyaki salmon plate.
A hidden gem. Outstanding menu including an exceptional range of dishes and sake, presented and served beautifully. The tasting bar area is very modern, and the dining spaces are cozy with calm decor. It is equally possible to have a relaxing, low key meal as an amazing celebratory feast.
I saw their review on check please and was sold. The restaurant was nice from a decor perspective and the service was ok. The food had nothing inspiring or stood out. $100 for a dinner for 2 I expected a little more.
Hana is a wonderful Japanese food restaurant. It is of the highest quality in our local area and matches up to the SF dining scene. The decor of the property is very well done. Then there is great food served with style. My wife enjoyed Edo Chirasi which included sweet rice with breaded seaweed, crab, clam, octopus, tuna, salmon, shark and steak. Very enjoyable dish. I had a steak which was very tender and accompanied by a delicious dipping sauce. It is a pleasure to recommend this restaurant.
Hana is the most authentic and delicious Japanese restaurant in the Bay Area, truly a gem. Danny, the Sake Master, is a trustworthy guide. Sit with him in the bar, it is the place to be!
My favorite sushi place in Santa Rosa. Top restaurant in Santa Rosa
As ever, Hanna Sushi does not disappoint. We love this place for it's outstanding fish as well as the many other traditional dishes. A terrific wine and Sake list rounds out an altogether great experience.
This restaurant is an amazing find. We drove from Marin on the recommendation of a good friend who happens to be a professional chef. We ordered a flight of Sake which was delicious.
The miso soup, rolls and sushi was a perfect 10. The decor was understated with an elegant touch. Looking forward to going back for a relaxing dinner.
We are fortunate to have some great japanese/sushi restaurants in the North Bay. Hana has been at the top of my list for probably 15 years now. Consistently wonderful. They added a lovely sake bar a few years ago and their sake offerings are amazing. Can get tasting flights to see what you like best. Offer very unique fresh fish for sushi/nigiri/sashimi that you typically can't find anywhere else. I have seen families with kids there on some occasions so I am assuming they offer items on their menus that kids would like. It is a japanese restaurant so there are plenty of "non-sushi" choices on their menu. Great for lunch or dinner. Would need to check their menu to see about Vegan/Paleo/gluten free offerings, but I suspect they would accomodate. Parking is a little more tricky now that Bear Republic is in the same center so just be prepared for that, parking lot fills up in the evenings. Definitely make reservations. When I was there last I had reservations, it was a weeknight, I arrived early waiting for my guest, lots of people were walking in looking for a table and they were turned away because they could not accomodate walk-ins given the reservations they had. Only openings were at sushi bar.
We’ve been going to Hana since it opened and have never had a bad meal there!
Got there with reservation made hours in advance for an 8:30 seating and it was overbooked and had to sit at the bar. Its sushi so its nice at the bar but i wanted a table hence the reservation. Otherwise its a nice place with very good sushi.
They have the best fish. And its location means that the best fish, while still pricy, breaks the bank a bit less than it would in a large city.
My rule for sushi to only order rolls in places where I don't trust the freshness and quality of the fish. In a place like this, order osusume nigiri and sashimi. They have some delicious beef dishes, too, like the garlic beef tongue and the Waygu Beef nigiri.
They also have a terrific selection of delicious sakes, including some adventurous flights.
Best sushi i the North County.
I had heard a lot about the quality of the raw fish and the interesting sake list. First off we sat at the sushi bar so interaction with the sushi chef was possible. We ordered the ten piece omakase (chef's choice) sushi, The fish was expertly prepared and the sushi rice just the right temperature. As for the sake, the sommelier helped us choose by providing a couple of sample tastes based on our discussion. Overall this is not an inexpensive restaurant but the quality of the fish and expert presentation balances that out. After all if I am looking for boring, bland sushi, that can be found in any grocery store around town.
Always my first choice for sushi & japanese cuisine in Sonoma County. Unique menu items you won't find at other places. Saki bar and expertise is the absolute best
Very slow and inattentive service. A few dishes that we ordered were mixed up or forgotten and almost 30 minutes went by before our order was taken...felt forgotten or an after thought for most of our meal. Despite the above, the food was pretty good.
Hana is my favorite Sushi place in Northern California. We drove up from Oakland for dinner.
Our favorite sushi in Sonoma County!
Freshest products, exclusive access to outstanding imported seafood
Delicious food, excellent service.
We have dined at Hana several times now, and we are very impressed with the quality and presentation of the food...
If you truly like fresh raw fish, this is the best we've found in the area ~ the rolls are great as well, but... rolls are not sushi, really !
They also have two special things they do ~ a chef's tasting,
and kaiseki, which is a form of preparing food whose goal is to make the ingredients taste more their nature, as opposed to covering them up...
Awesome great place !
Hana is always wonderful - this visit did not disappoint! Top notch, best rolls ever - the Yummy was all that and more! Delicious!
We loved our meals. Two of us had the donburi and it was amazing. My husband and I had the sushi, which was the best sushi we have ever had, outside of Japan. Sooo fresh. You can taste the ocean in each bite.
The food and service was impeccable. I would strongly recommend Hana
Took my sister to Hana for her birthday. This is her favorite Japanese restaurant in the county and it was my first time (we are half Japanese, so we're picky!) We started with a toro small plate and goma-ae, along with the Dragon Sake flight. Then we had the bluefin belly roll from the specials, and the seared cod as our entree. We finished it all out with a shared glass of plum wine. This was a special occasion, and the meal, atmosphere, service, etc. did not disappoint. Everything was perfect, our server was knowledgeable about all aspects of the meal and beverages, and we were never rushed, while at the same never felt we were waiting a long time between courses. It was very traditionally Japanese in that way. Truly a spectacular food experience.
The restaurant was a pleasant surprised once we entered. It is quite deceiving from the outside. I loved the ambiance, all the servers and staff were super friendly and nice. Our waitress was especially warm and accommodating and make some really awesome recommendations.
I love that the menu was extensive as I now will have to return to try other items. The sushi was fresh and so was the salad. Lots of authentic Japanese dishes to choose from. I found it a bit pricey, however I would definitely return.
There was only one minor issue. I ordered the crunchy sushi and it was the very last item served and there was quite a wait after we had finished the complete meal. Other than that, everything was perfect.
One of the best Japanese/ sushi restaurants in Northern California.
I wish I could eat Hana's food every day - so fresh - beautiful presentation - reminiscent of my trips to Japan and I want to come back to Hana soon - thank you!
Overall good but a bit pricy
Superb Japanese homemade ice cream and cheese cake
The BEST food, service, sake and atmosphere. Love it! All of my chef friends who swear by it were right.
My wife and I have eaten several times at Hana and each time we enjoy the experience more. The food is very good Japanese cuisine and there are some very creative options. We'll be back there soon.
Hana is fabulous! Staff is always friendly and makes us feel special. I don't know any sushi that can be fresher and more flavorful. Ken has it nailed! Love being at the sushi bar or counter!
Visit #2 didn't work so well as our intro visit last month. The food tasted like some lower-level chef was in the kitchen, who thinks that "more is always better" - it is NOT. Strip Steak red wine teriyaki was ruined by too much sauce which had way too much shoyu in it. Intrusive and much too salty vs first visit. Altho perfect med-rare, steak was chewy & tough; like typical grass-fed beef maybe? Ugh. Yakiniki donburi (also 2nd time to try) also suffered heavy-handedness: chile-soya was mostly sugar with not enough chile, and way too much of it drowning the rice. Even the beef tasted of too much sugar. This is an intense sauce and should NEVER be over-applied. Ruined the excellent Black Angus beef slices. Maguro sashimi and futomaki roll were delightful; Hana is always on point with sushi.
Consistently my top go-to restaurant for innovative japanese cuisine in the North Bay. Great menu options for people who don't enjoy sushi.......but their sushi menu is top notch. Expansive saki menu and they offer flights and help you decide which saki you'd enjoy with your meal.
Party of 2 people. Final bill was almost $100. For this you get a tiny table facing the kitchen where you can see kitchen supplies and cleaning supplies each time the waiter comes through with food. Only 2 tables in the restaurant have any ambiance. You are out of luck if you don't land those tables. Tables are small and crammed together. Lighting is horrific. Like sitting under a halogen lamp at the FBI undergoing interrogation. Hostess had personality of a limp sour fish. However, looks like the owner spared no expense to decorate and furnish the bar, booze and lounge area next to the restaurant area. This bar area was EMPTY of people when we arrived for dinner. So what is the priority here for this restaurant? Squeeze the diners to pay for the bar? Sushi rolls were small, dry and nothing exceptional. The daily special nigiri was good but very expensive. Won't be returning. Cannot recommend. This was a special occasion for us and it was ruined by the below average dining experience.
