Lovely dinner including a beautiful wine recommendation. My son had the lamb and loved it. I had the incredible pasta special. Everything was delicious and our waitress perfect.
Always good food. The only negative is that the restaurant is always so cold
Food was adequate but not great. Service excellent. Could not hear yourself think! Loud, noisy, no relief. Will not return.
Hampton Street Vineyard is our favorite restaurant. The food is always very good, we love its ambience, and the service is excellent.
The shrimp and grits were floating in grease.
Crab Cakes were great but risotto had little flavor.
The bread was delicious.
The food and service was great. Would eat there again without hesitation.
Had dinner at Hampton Street Vineyard for our anniversary. The food, wine, and service were all exceptional - it's one of the best restaurants in Columbia. We'll definitely be back!
This was our second time at the Hampton St Vineyards and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed our meal. The service was excellent and we did not feel rushed. I look forward to going here again.
We were there for lunch...food was just ok. Restaurant was very chilly.
Great experience. Had flowers delivered and they set them up perfectly. Food and wine were great.
We went here as a party of 6 for my sons graduation. Ambience was very nice and we were seated in the wine room. Service was very attentive and well paced. However, the food did not live up to the ambience, service and price.
Absolutely amazing. Extra words are unnecessary
We will not go here again. Exceptionally loud. We requested a different table so we were not sitting by the kitchen. Management and our waiter refused....though the table we asked for remained empty the entire evening. Our tab was over 400.00 for our party of 4, which we expected yet the service was surly and indifferent. Food was fine, but not special enough to outweigh the bad service and extreme loudness.
Everything was great. Ribeye tasted more like sirloin but other than that, the food, wine and service was great!
I eat here often--interesting food well-prepared. Service usually good but not this time. We were there just after opening so there was no one else around but sat for awhile (outside table) before she came out. Uninformed about the house wine (in a restaurant that prides itself on it's wines) and was condecsending when I suggested that saying a wine was a Riesling wasn't a sufficient explanation. No offer to let me try a sample. Asked in detail how my fish be cooked-- then when it came out I had to use a knife to cut through a seared crust. Her response was "I'll tell the chef". No offer to redo--little attention our table after that. I will say that this is the first time that the food or service wasn't good. I hope it's the last. On a happier note, my wife's dish was well prepared .
Awesome place my favorite in Columbia!!
Very good experience. Food was delicious. Service was excellent. The only complaint I have are the chairs. They are very uncomfortable.
Always good food. 20% automatic tip for party of 6 or more was a little much, in my opinion.
Food was excellent as always. Our waiter seemed to be put out by our table size (9)...he rolled his eyes more than once at questions/request made by our party. He added a 20% tip to our bill due to our size; which I thought was not legal in South Carolina...but it was the only way he received the tip that he did.
Food was great. The wine selection was overwhelming but picked a fabulous one. William was outstanding and we enjoyed our evening!
The wine list was exceptional and some reasonably priced. But I was disappointed with my entree. Perhaps it is what I ordered but the short rib was dry and over cooked (did not fall off the bone) and the portion was very small for the price and taste.
The seating was very cramp. You only get one short rib for $28 and it was mostly bone. It was difficulty to eat and not tender. The mash potatoes were very salty and greens were acidic. I was disappointed
We were in Columbia for the Eagle’s concert and wanted to add a “foodie” restaurant to the experience. Reservations were made weeks in advance and the night of our visit, they were fully booked. We were well greeted by both the hostess and the wait staff. Our waiter offered advice on the wine list and brought us samples to help in our decision. My husband ordered the duck and I ordered the ahi tuna. We both had salads to accompany our meals. The salads were both fresh and had tasty dressings. The duck was likely the best duck we have ever eaten. It was done medium rare, as requested. The sauce was the perfect accompaniment to the duck. The ahi tuna was prepared rare, as requested. The aioli and vinaigrette as described on the menu were sadly not apparent in the dish so it felt under seasoned. I requested some additional aioli which was brought to the table and that helped with the flavors. I was disappointed that the execution of the tuna did not match the menu description.
The dining space is all hard surfaces so that the noise level becomes quite high when all tables are full.
I would definitely give this restaurant another try —and order the duck!!!
Great food, great atmosphere! The wine list is impressive. Will go back again very soon!
Took my wife out for our 27th wedding anniversary and the appetizer and entree's were great! The desert was just average.
I like this restaurant and the wines are reasonably priced. I would prefer food that is prepared more simply. That doesn't mean it can't be elegant. We were disappointed to have the soft shelled crabs served on top of pasta with a lot of liquid which obliterated the taste of the crab.
My duck was. . . ok.
The personnel honored our request to move away from the rather smoky kitchen, which I appreciated.
Second time enjoying this spot. The service was wonderful- attentive but not annoying.
Loved the wine special. I had the roasted eggplant- delish! Wonderful fresh herbs and seasonings...ate the whole thing!
Hubs had roasted beet salad, yum, with the soup special. Will definitely return when in Columbia!
Hidden gem! Food was delicious, service was great. We really enjoyed the entire experience.
Excellent service. Food was great. Appetizers were awesome! Very good desserts as well.
We will definitely go back.
Excellent service and food. Exceptional wine selection.
The service was excellent. The food was very good and the ambiance is quite nice.
The pear salad is outstanding. Always reliable and very good food, service and wine list.
This is our go-to place for birthdays and celebrations in Columbia. HSV is one of Columbia's original fine dining establishments with a bountiful, diverse wine list and an excellent seasonal menu that lists wine pairings for each item. But be sure to check out the specials! This weekend, I had the corvina in a fish fume over ancient grains topped off with white asparagus spears. My daughter had the pappardelle with a pumpkin seed pesto. We ended the meal with the creme brûlée and left very happy, determined to visit again soon!
A little smoky but otherwise awesome as always.
It has been few years since my last visit which was great however this visit was not as good. Noise level was high since there is no doors to separate kitchen an in addition kitchen was smoke filled that came into dinning room area, don’t know if exhaust fan was working in kitchen. We had to send one of the steaks back since it was not prepared as requested and ahi tuna was dry no flavor. Great wine list! For the money I thought it should have been much better.
Bar: well stocked, good wine, liquor and cocktails
Salad: bland, without seasoning, poor pairings
Appetizers: pork: flavorful but riddled with grizzled parts- ridiculous for the venue. Worse the service hand told me it was part of pulled pork. Absolutely not.
Main: pork chop- nicely done. Pleasant but lacked the seasoning and necessary aromatics.
Desert: flourless chocolate cake- very well done. Worthwhile.
Overall 3/5. Consider but better options nearby.
Great food with great service,
Really enjoyed the dinner. This is about the only bar I've been to (except my house) that carries Tanqueray Rangpur. How refreshing! I found the short-rib tasty, but VERY skimpy. On the one bone, there may have been an ounce of meat. But overall I enjoyed the restaurant and will come back.
Good food, but it was so loud! I had the oysters yum and my friend the water buffalo. Yep water buffalo. It was really a pot roast. The oysters were great. The wine list impressive. But the noise really loud.
