We have been to this restaurant before and enjoyed it. Unfortunately this was not the case this time. There was a party of eight that apparently had been drinking excessively and were extremely loud. You could not have a conversation without almost hollering. When the server asked how everything was, we told him that it would be great if the table weren't so loud. He just ignored our comment and brought our bill to the table. We won't go back!
new chef and new menu.....but same great staff and same great quality and unique offerings that make this restaurant anything but ordinary.
The staff were very helpful and accommodating. The food was very good.
Anxious to take our friends from Asheville to a really nice restaurant with great food (having tried several other Columbia restaurants on their previous visits and being disappointed) we hit a home run this time. Everything was perfect from the warm and cozy atmosphere to delicious entrees delivered by a most professional server. We will be back even without the excuse of entertaining out of town guests!
One of the best places I've found in Columbia. Excellent food and service. Well done all around.
We were given excellent service and great food as part of our Valentine's Day evening. The wine list is exceptional.
I took my wife here for our first Valentine's dinner, due to our go-to restaurant not taking reservations and not wanting to chance it. After finding Hampton Street Vineyard online, I booked the reservation. their wine list is very extensive, and it was a nice, romantic spot to have a Valentine's Day Dinner. We will definitely be going back
I haven't been here in at least 10 years but I will certainly be back soon.
My husband and I dined here recently and were absolutely delighted. The server's suggestion for wine pairing was perfect and our meal was devine from the lump crab cake appetizer through the main courses and ending with the best cheesecake I have ever eaten! We will definitely return to try their cuisine again.
The beer cheese soup was the high note. The Caesar dressing was bland and thin. The meat that was ordered was tough. The chairs were worn. It was all pretty underwhelming.
I will no longer provide star ratings if a written review is required.
My husband and I had such a great time here on our anniversary. Food was phenomenal, the wine was excellent, and our server have us just the right amount of attention. I definitely recommend Hampton St. Vineyard to anyone looking for a special place to celebrate. Only complaint was that the crowd noise was a bit loud. 5 stars overall!
Reservations were very easy for our group of five. None of our guests had heard of the "Vineyard", however after the superb food and outstanding service, all agreed this was going to be their special occasion place in Columbia. In particular, all agreed that our wait person was very helpful in his suggestions, very knowledgeable of his wines, and just in general blended well with our desires for a welcomed respite. Thank you "HSV" for hosting our group...we loved it!
We had our anniversary dinner at Hampton Street, and it was the perfect place. It was quiet and intimate, and the food was outstanding. There was nothing that I would consider standard fare on the menu, which made for a little fun adventure. The wine list was extensive, and had a lot of great choices in any price range. We had a great time and we will find a way to go back.
This is our second visit. The first was a few years ago but so memorable that on this visit to
Columbia we sought out the restaurant and were delighted to know it was still there. Now that we have been there again, we know that we will repeat the next time we are in Columbia. The food is superb, the wait service enjoyable and the wine list impressive.
Food, wine and service were outstanding. The salmon, short ribs and pork chop did not disappoint.
We were in Columbia for the Norman Rockwell Exhibit. The restaurant is a short walk from the museum. My wife and I split the special of the day which was the seafood cakes. It were three seafood cakes each one consisted of separate portions of salmon, shrimp and crab. They were very tasty. We asked the waitress to recommend some wine and she did a very nice job. We enjoyed our lunch and would come back.
The staff was extremely friendly from the time of our arrival. Quick seating. Our waitress was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. The drinks were great and the food was even better. Will definitely recommend this resturant for a nice night out. Will return again.
The food was good ... seared duck breast and ahi tuna ... although the tuna was a bit over done. Biggest concern was the wine list. It was expansive, but vintages were wrong in some cases. Many of them seemed to be too old and, sure enough, the one I ordered which was listed as a 2003 was a 2010. The wine manager needs to do some updating ... vintages are important!
Great food and service.
Prior to the concert at Township Auditorium, we reserved a 6PM table, but it took a little while finding the restaurant with it being tucked away downstairs and all. All the entrees have at least 3 wine suggestions for you, and the spring rolls were a hot and delicious appetizer. Free parking after 5PM in a well lit garage was a plus also. Our waiter was attentive and polite, making sure we had what we needed, and liked what we had. Duck breast, and stuffed pepper.
Although it was pricier (~$100) than we normally find, it was great for this special occassion.
We'd go back.
I love introducing new diners Hampton Street Vineyard. The crab cake appetizer and shrimp and grits were perfect. This was a first visit for my friends and they both immediately said we have to come back.
We always eat here when in Columbia. Never disappoints!
Consistently one of my favorite restaurants in Columbia.
We stayed at marriott across the street. the restaurant was recommended by locals. very good food, great service, great wine list. perfect setting for business or pleasure. highly recommend
Excellent menu. The food is outstanding. The quality of the wine selection is amazing.
Overall it was a nice evening but the service was slow. There was a lot of time between the appetizer and entrees then entrees and dessert.
Nice atmosphere, convenient downtown location. Great fish, especially the flounder.
This is an oh so cozy spot tucked away on a main street downtown. Well worth remembering it's there. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu that changes according to the season. The servers are well educated and can offer suggestions on dishes and great wine pairings. You simply can't go wrong here!
Everything was great from the front door to the table and back out the door. The waiter was tremendous with his service. The workers greeted us upon entering and from there everything was right on time. The seeds were sown that night and what will be shared will be "Go and see what the seed has sown!"
Great food, great service, nice wine. Would highly recommend!
The service was exceptional and the food was good. Great selection of wine. The shrimp and mango salad was my favorite. The flash fried oysters were perfectly cooked.
Took a chance from the online reviews. Some good. Some bad. Totally enjoyed our meal, service and atmosphere! And I'm a harsh critic! Would definitely return and recommend.
Love eating dinner at the Hampton Street Vineyard when visiting our son who lives in Lexington; this was our 4th visit. Food was wonderful as usual; our favorite appetizer is the flash-fried oysters - done to perfection and with a really nice, slightly spicy remoulade sauce. My husband and I enjoyed both entrees -- seared duck breast and poached salmon. Went there on a Tues. night so it was very quiet. Still on our favorites list!
I have stayed at the hotel across the street from this restaurant every other month for 10 years never heard of this restaurnt. Found the restaurant on open table. Food was very good: quality and presentation was worth the prices.
Great Ambiance, not too distracting but very inviting, Outstanding Food, and great Service while not being intrusive. I would highly recommend Hampton Street Vineyard as a great dining experience especial for those romantic occasions.
Food was very good. Wine list extensive. Service was very efficient, but a little too fast paced. Meal courses felt a little rushed.
Had an anniversary dinner with friends that had never been. It was our 2 nd visit. Everyone was very pleased with all the dishes and service
Noise level made it impossible to have enjoyable time with friends -- could barely hear person sitting at common corner for 4-person table; no chance at all to talk with person across at table.
Had a quick dinner with a friend from out of town. We both had the swordfish- which was quite good. Portion size was nice. The service was good- maybe initially a little slow to approach us since there were few filled tables at the time that we were seated ( we were dining early). The server was knowledgeable about the wine and offered good advice and descriptions to help with our meal selections. Overall, very nice experience.
