Hammocks Trading Company

I have gone to hammocks for years, and the noise has been too much, but we still kept coming back. This time, we could hear nothing of what our dinner partners were saying whether they sat next to us or across the table.
A friend and I came in for a quick bite before an evening meeting. We were greeted promptly and asked for our choice of table. The server quickly arrived to explain the menu and take our beverage order. While we weren't in a particular hurry, they knew that we did have someplace to be and made an effort to be quick without hurrying us. I was pleased with the meal and service.
Service was really poor.
Temp seems to always be cold-bring a jacket-
Food and service are great. Love the menu selections. Parking was a problem. Parking Lot not big enough on a crowded Friday night.
Great food and service, but a little noisy. Sometimes hard to carry on a conversation.
It's a nice location. Parking was adequate to the time we arrived, 9pm. Nice and busy environment so can't complain about that. Lots of laughter and music in the background. Our server was quite friendly, professional and attentive. I don't remember her name but she's from New York she said. This assisted my lady and I to have a perfect evening. I'd definitely go back. Value for money !!
Thank you for your kind words. I will pass your compliments on to Shannon, your server.
Love the food and space! We had a larger party (10) and the wait staff was slow. We often ran out of drinks often and took awhile to get refills. Otherwise, great time
Thank you! Your concerns will be passed on to your server so it never happens again.
Great food and menu. Stumbled upon the place while in the area.......
Thank you for finding us and we hope to see you soon.
New Years Day Lunch. Sat at the bar. Oysters were fresh and very tasty.
Great food, attentive service, pleasant staff.
This is a great restaurant... one of our favorites... overall great food and always excellent service! The salmon baked in parchment is the best i have had ever, anywhere. But the fried seafood platter was a little dry this time. Can be a little noisy.
Thank you. I will let the chef know about your concerns with the Fried Seafood Platter. Happy New Year!
My brother’s 35th birthday. The food was excellent, especially the oysters. The drinks were also amazing. Our server was phenomenal! Will definitely come back!
Thank you for your great review. Happy New Year!
Lots of items on the menu not available. Once substitutions were made it took a while for those items to show up at the table.. Food showed up at different times.
We have been to hammocks many times and never had an issue, but Christmas Eve was a disappointment.
We have been long time customers of Hammocks visiting there on special occasions (ie. birthdays, anniversaries and father days) as well family weekend events. The food was great and we were made to feel special.
This last dinner was horrible. Our salmon was extremely over cooked and dry. The waitress was surly and her attitude was evident. We had taken very special friends with us and boasted Hammocks to them. I was angry and extremely disappointed when we left.
We will not be back!
Well we have been going here for about six years. In the past we’ve always had great food and service, but sadly I think Hammocks has gotten away from what made it such a great neighborhood find.
Food was just okay, too heavy on the salt and overpriced for the quality, and limited selection. This place was soo much better when the chef was one of the partners. It’s a shame really.
That all being said, it’s still a convenient place to go in a pinch. Luckily City Barbecue has opened just down the road and it’s awesome.
Never fails to deliver. Good quality, reasonable prices and some interesting drafts on tap.
I just wish it would bring back the cioppino!
Thank you for your kind words. I will let Chef Alex know about your request. Happy New Year!
Our server was great. Best part, food came out piping hot. Can’t wait to go back.
We had a great time and the food was delicious! Portions were generous, they tasted great and service was exemplary. Yay Shannon! We know we always will get a good meal at Hammocks.
Our favorite thing on the menu is the salmon in parchment paper!! So delicious!!!
Due to very poor service and not even getting all of our food that we ordered I will not be back.
We came here after watching the Nutcracker for a special occasion - the restaurant was very nice. My daughter had the fried shrimp, I had the fish and chips, wife had fish tacos - everything was very good! Service was a bit slow but overall a good experience.
The food was great. Both soups, cream of mushroom and seafood chowder, were very tasty. All three of our entrees were excellent, particularly my grouper sandwich. The only small complaint is that the restaurant was a little chilly.
Once again, my BF and I enjoyed an incredibly good dining experience at Hammock's Trading Company...!
OK, so the last time we dined at HTC, some friendly customers with whom we fell into conversation -- seated at a neighboring table -- recommended that we try the "Salmon-in-Parchment" (a signature dish) on our next visit. I love salmon, however, I much prefer grilled salmon to all other preparations - so I wasn't that enthusiastic about trying it - still, I was curious and thought maybe I ought to at least give it a try -- so, on this last visit I did just that....
OMG! I can't even find the words to describe how incredibly delicious I found this dish! This might be one of my favorite all-time experiences for enjoying salmon. OK - so this was not your grandmother's salmon-in-parchment! Heavens, no! This was off-the-charts crazy delicious! An explosion of tastes - subtle and yet incredibly aromatic and tantalizing to the taste buds - a real treat! Not the usual "bland, boring, boiled" taste that one might expect to encounter when ordering fish in parchment. This dish has to be experienced to be believed -- I can't even do justice describing it - words fail me.
Meanwhile, my BF noticed on the specials that a Pot Roast dish was featured. You might think that to order a Pot Roast entree at a seafood restaurant would be rather, risky, no? (They can't possibly do justice to it, right?) Well, if you think that way - you'd be wrong! BF said it was one of the most delicious pot roast's he's ever had --- and it came with delicious mashed potatoes and sautéed cabbage - which he thoroughly enjoyed.
Well, I'm here to say - we'll be back. Can't wait to try some of the other wonderful dishes - maybe we'll just work our way through the menu? :-)
Oh, and, by the way - Leah our server was fantastic - absolutely wonderful service - made our dining experience all the better...
Can't wait to return to see what Chef William comes up with next time...
Hammocks has never failed. The Baked Salmon in Parchment is always a winner. We also had Scallops over a parsnip purée which was outstanding.
This used to be our go-to place for casual seafood, but has declined in quality and value. Service was average and prices high for level of quality. We must not be the only ones, as the usually full house, had very few other patrons on a Friday night
Love the new booths! I had a HTC salad with blackened grouper- probably the smallest piece of fish on a salad that I've had there and then when we ordered the key lime pie, it was the flattest pie I've ever seen. About 1/2" tall with lots of whipped cream piled high so we'd think it was taller. Made me laugh. It tasted good, but it was more like a key lime pancake that night. I bet next time we go- which is often... it will be back to perfection. One of my very favorite places to go for dinner.. price, casual fun atmosphere, delicious food & great service.
Great food and everything is fresh
BF and I went back a second time to check it out to see if it was *really* as good as we thought the first time we went (2 weeks ago). And -- yes, it was!
So, this time we both ordered different items from what we had a couple of weeks ago. We both ordered items from the Fresh Catch (specials) this time . I had the Halibut (Grilled) and he had the Snapper (Pan Sautéed, per chef recommendation).
Again - everything was outstanding -- food was very tasty and well-prepared! The "sides" were outstanding, also - not just the main dish. And great service, nice mellow buzz ambience. Everyone around us seemed to be happy and enjoying their dining experience and having a good time. We chatted with a few guests at a neighboring table who made some recommendations (salmon in parchment, etc., desert, etc.) for us to try on a future visit (and, yes, we will be back!)
Again - not a fancy place - but very pleasant, casual dining -- great food and service!
Oh, and, by the way - not that it matters to some - but very charming, clean and pleasantly decorated women's rest room. (That scores lots of points for me. It shows they care!)
Our server was very honest with my daughter about her chicken finger order. She changed it to fries and a biscuit. I like that kind of honesty in our server and we tipped him for that advice.
Really great food. Our server (Trent?) was on top of everything, and had everything ready for our somewhat large party. The only complaint (not mine, just what I heard from the table) is that it was cold inside. I don't really mind, as I prefer colder temps.
Overall a nice experience with good service!
Three of us (my BF and I and another friend) went to Hammocks last Saturday night for dinner. We had heard that it was pretty casual and had good food and was a nice "neighborhood gem" - and all of that turned out to be accurate - we were not disappointed!
My BF and I are used to all kinds of restaurants (including Michelin 3-star restaurants in France) and enjoy dining at the entire range from fine dining to very very casual - depending on our mood, etc.
But some very important considerations: the food needs to be really tasty, the service should be at least acceptable, and the atmosphere should be pleasant.
Well, we were totally pleased with our experience - and we loved the fact that the menu was large enough - withlots of options - including even vegan items (which I myself sometimes order, although i didn't this time.) Anyway - we all 3 loved the place! We all there of us ordered something different - and weall agreed that the food tasted really, really good!
The atmosphere was fun - pleasant, not fancy - not too noisy, just a nice pleasant buzz.
Hey, sometimes you just don't want fancy.
It was pleasantly decorated - nice beach feeling, headboard, aqua and white, coastal feel. Really nice bar - nice Florida or California beach bar feel - you'd feel comfortable dining alone at the bar - plenty of TV's with various sports options. Yep - I'll be back. Would feel very comfortable recommending this restaurant to friends.
The service was very poor. . After 10 minutes I had to remind the server Not to forget the seafood chowder that I ordered. The server stated she did not forget but when my entrée of the fried catfish team the server did say she did forget and brought the chowder without a spoon. The fries were left off my order. The server advised us that there were no clean spoons and after five minutes she brought a very small plastic spoon to me that is usually part of a kit for takeout food. The soup became cold and was not as good as it would’ve been if it would’ve been hot. The crab cake that my wife ordered was to come as part of an arugula salad but this did not happen. This was our first experience at this restaurant and it would’ve been much better if the server would’ve been on top of things.
certainly casual - noisy but GREAT food + Trent's a terrific waiter,,, we found a new 'return often' spot !
2nd time to Hammocks and we will certainly be back. Service was excellent. Biscuits were dry and the oysters small. Everything else very good. My husband really liked their house beer.
Good sea food, oysters are excellent, service above average but served in an old building. We shall return
Great casual dining spot. The blackened grouper was excellent. The calamari was over breaded. Great value for the money.
Have been going to Hammocks for a number of years, but this might have been our last meal there. The only thing that was good was the service. The food was not so good. My salmon BLT was more like a salmon minnow, the bacon was not crisp, and the fries were soggy. Very disappointed because I've always liked this place.
Hammocks is our "go to" place and offers consistently good food and a friendly environment. They now have three versions of their famous grouper sandwich, (caribbean, southern, and classic), but we still prefer the classic. The platters are back and are wonderful. William makes a great chocolate cake and key lime pie to finish things off. We love fresh seafood and eat here often
