Hamilton's Grill Room
We’ve been happily coming here since the late 90’s and were very sorry to hear of the owner’s passing last summer. There was always an elegant and sophisticated feel to the menu and everyone who worked there. This has been our go to restuarant for special dinners and dates for many years.
It’s definitely lost a step. Right from the start we did not feel the love that the maitre’d was actually happy to see us. The menu, food and service was just ok. Oysters were great but main course (seafood for both of us) flavorless. The back dining room needs to be CLEANED. Holy cow. Filthy curtains and walls do not make sitting in the corner table very romantic. My wife didn’t want to use the bathroom.
We will try again on the hope they had a off night when we were there, but lots of room for improvement and simple attention to detail not yet there.
Brian’s influence is growing and welcome. The menu is subtly different in a very good way.
Food and service were excellent! We will definitely be returning.
We enjoyed an excellent meal and great service.
We had a wonderful birthday dinner here. The food was excellent and John was so very attentive! Everything moved at a nice pace allowing us to enjoy our company.
Much less extensive than before
30' wait for our reservation
The reservation system is not set up for a busy Saturday night. We were told there could be a significant wait on an 8:00pm reservation. Eventually we were seated when someone did not show up 20 minutes later. Server said very little and the apitizers took too long to arrive.
My first impression wasn’t good, when I asked the (2) hostesses where my wife was sitting after parking the car. Both were too busy to help me, no welcoming greeting! Luckily I saw my wife seated. Our waitress was extremely friendly and helpful with our meal selection. Our appetizer were very good, my wife salad could have more goat cheese but was very good. My oysters were very good snd fresh, price a bit high. My wife meal (scallops) was delicious. I ordered the duck confit which was very tasty but bit on the dry side. Dessert was the apple crisp, wasn’t inspiring, rather have ice cream instead of wipped cream! Enjoyed the experience, except for the loud table who should hsve been told to stop screaming. Guess to much wine😁
Pretty noisy, tables crowded together. Service was very good. Food ranged from excellent for the Ravioli with Duck Ragout to mediocre for the Halibut Piccata. Shrimp appetizer was a tad raw in the center. Ventilation in the dining rooms is overheated and the grill in the front room drifts into the other areas, which can be good or bad. Overall not anxious to go back.
25th Anniversary dinner.
We were very excited to try Chef Brian's you menu since taking over. The scallops were excellent, the Halibut was very good but the chicken was overdone. Salads were excellent and overall a good meal.
So much better under the new owner/chef. Really excellent food and service.
Food was very good. We had to wait about 1/2 hour past our reservation to actually be seated at our table, but we were able to go next door and have a drink while we waited. Service was ok.
Hamiltons Grill is better than ever although the menu is much more limited. What they make, is terrific however. Similar atmosphere under new ownership.
Wonderful meal, great service. Would recommend. Nice to know same owner as Brian's in Lambertville
The oysters were exceptional! We all agreed far better than expected.
The salmon dinner I had there was truly the best salmon I have eaten in years.
Food was ok. Medium steak came rare. Acoustics in the room were terrible. Noisy table next to us made it impossible to talk. Don’t go there for a romantic dinner.
The ambiance at Hamilton's is always magical...truly one of the best places to celebrate any occassion. My friend and I brought our wives there to celebrate their birthdays and Valentine's Day which they are on and close to. Every course of our meal was amazing as usual. The filet minon was superb as was the rack of lamb and dessert. I love the fact it is still a BYOB. I've been going to Hamilton's for 20 years...I hope to be going for another.
Brian.... Really... Just can’t believe it
You are extending the Valentine diner this week end....shame ( not even posting it on open table) and charging twice as much for a menu this a copy paste of your regular diner and with not even putting the price on it.
This is customer abuse.
Same at Rouget.
I understand that everybody needs to make a living but common sense should apply and with some kind of business integrity. That, unfortunately I didn’t see. Valentine we all know is a business on Feb 14 not beyond
Sincerely to take advantage of that to rip off your all year around customer at your 3 locations is not good business practice to say the least
For you to meditate.....
Great food. You won't be disappointed, but dress casually
Atmosphere and service was fine. Food was not as expected. Won’t hurry back
We had a delightful dinner at Hamilton's Grill Room. There was a slightly shrunken menu, because they had a Valentine's Day menu for Thursday, Friday & Saturday. I enjoyed the bouillabaisse as an appetizer, and the roast halibut as an entree, as did 2 of my dinner companions. The bouillabaisee was delicious, with a generous portion of seafood and a wonderful broth. The halibut was moist and perfectly cooked. The other person selected rack of lamb, which was tender, tasty & perfectly prepared. We shared a few decadent desserts, but I don't remember what we got! It was a delightful evening.
Service was amazing. Food was outstanding. A bit pricey.
Food and service were superb. BUT the 4 messages (phone and email) we received to confirm and reconfirm the reservation were a little oppressive.
Dining experience excellent. Pre dining experience needs work.
I think of filet mignon as the most boring form of beef; however, as served at Hamilton's Grill Room, it was the best I've ever had. The ambience is unique and pleasurable, the service very friendly and professional, and the food very good.
Absolutely worth your time. Great bar across way to get your drink on as well.
Remember its BYOB, . Lamb rack is to die for.
Very good restaurant. As always
Best dinner I've ever had.....Excellent from appetizer to dessert. Very good service. Quant garden room dining. Other rooms look very nice as well. Wish this restaurant was closer to home !
Very pretty atmosphere but the food is average at best. BYOB helps to at least keep the cost at reasonable level.
Special Wednesday night menu good choices delicious food and byob
Wonderful dinner. Excellent service. Only the noise, only the noise . . .
Though the service on this evening was excellent, the food was a disappointment, only mediocre
Always reliable great food and atmosphere for special occasions or just because. We will always come back
Have been going to Hamilton’s for years. Always great quality. Surprised this time that the halibut tasted fishy—meaning it wasn’t fresh. A disappointment. But everything else was as expected.
Food was delicious. Service was just ok.
Best restaurant in lambertville (in addition to Brian’s of course). Brian’s dishes are so elegant and delicious. His choices every week just keep getting better as if that’s needed.
Had an excellent meal this past Saturday - 3 of us had the Steak which was delicious, grilled medium rare 4th had the lamb loin which she also said was very good. The goat cheese salad was tender and fresh, bread nice and warm. The red wines we brought went perfectly with our meal. Only complaint is that the dining room was loud - with 2 loud parties next to and across from us. We had a similar experience at another local fine restaurant last month...I'm starting to think Saturday nights are not good for a quiet meal...
