Nice atmosphere. Good food. Service courteous but a little slow. All in all good experience... above average for the area .but not exceptional.. will go back
lovely restaurant with great ambiance and delicious food.
with the Boathouse across the alley, it is just a delightful
Wow wow wow. This byob is wonderful. My wife and I loved it. Service, food, coffee. Everything was perfect. It’s so nice to see a restaurant get it right. A can’t miss. Can’t wait to go back.
We had a wonderful meal. Service somewhat slow but wait staff very pleasant and accommodating
We always have a great experience at Hamilton’s Grill Room but once in a while they have VERY Large parties going on during dinner. This past Saturday was one such occasion where my wife and I were seated between 2 obnoxiously loud parties. The restaurant should use the building in the back for catering affairs and the main restaurant for intimate dining. Mingling both large and small groups of diners/couples will ultimately cost the restaurant patrons.
Sooo disappointing. Del Monico steak not edible. Lamb chops just ok. Appetizers excellent. Service and ambiance delightful. Thank you Ryan. But entrees get 2 thumbs down and that's being kind. No reason to return after such a let down.
Locals night. $25 three course menu. One of the best meals I’ve had there and I eat there frequently. Started with grilled calamari with anchovy butter Main course was roasted cod with braised cabbage. Finished with bread pudding. Just perfect.
We’d looked forward to trying this place and it was a big disappointment and waste of money. Very uninspired food. Server forgot a side, forgot a drink, got our friend's requested salmon donenness off by a lot, and forgot our dessert. We ordered a dozen oysters and every single one had broken pieces of shell messily left inside. Overall the food was lackluster and overpriced. We felt embarrassed to have brought a friend here. Won’t be back.
Good food, scallops with butter truffle sauce was excellent
A very long (over 30 minutes)wait even with a reservation, and no space to stand, but hey, you can make friends that way. After that:
Food was excellent; service was excellent.
Very disappointed with our dinner at Hamilton's Grille. The seating was extremely tight and the staff kept smashing into my chair whenever they had to serve the table next to us. A little thought to table placement could have avoided the issue. The disturbance was frequent and the young man clearing plates from the table next to us banged into me so often it was like it was my fault that I was in his way. Incidentally, I am an average sized 5'10 male.
I ordered a Delmonico steak which was filled with gristle and difficult to chew let alone swallow. I've had better steaks from Giant Supermarket. It was flavorful but so much stringy gristle you felt like you were going to choke yourself when swallowing.
My wife's meal was OK but nothing special.
Another issue that you have to deal with is if you are going to this restaurant, DO NOT drive down the alley that it is located on and think you are going to park near the restaurant. The alley that GPS tells you to turn down to get to the restaurant is a dead end with about 6 parking spots that are shared by the two restaurants and one bar located down the alley. It is impossible to back up out of the alley because other cars are following their GPS into the quagmire. Park on the street before turning into the alley and walk back the block or so to get to the restaurant.
Great service , ambiance and food
Good food. Great service. No wait time. Wife loved the scallops. She said the bread pudding with whipped cream was the best she ever had. Talked about it for days!
Nice place tucked away off the street and along the tow path overlooking the canal. The rooms inside are very charming and cozy, either with lovely windows or with a view of the open grill. For appetizers, we had a kale salad that was delicious, if a bit strong on the citrus, and some shrimp in an anchovy butter, which was another strong flavor with garlic. Splitting the two was a good combination as the citrus mellowed out the shrimp. Then we both happened to have the scallops, which were fine. They weren't overdone or anything, but were very strong on the salt and seasoning.
In general, if you like one or two very dominant flavors in your food, I would think it's a lovely spot. Additionally, it's a BYOB, so grab a couple of bottles just a block or two away and it's a nice evening. However, if you like more nuanced flavors in your food, it's still a nice time, and service staff were very pleasant, but it wouldn't be my first choice for that palette.
Food was great. It was our first visit on Friday night. The chef was friendly and greeted us when we came in. You can tell he takes pride in his restaurant!
I wish the menu had more conventional dishes. I am not a fish eater, and I avoid red meat......so where's the chicken. There are a number of good, easy chicken dishes
Grill is amazing! We love to sit at the bar and watch our food grilled on the spot.
Very disappointed in the food. Scallops very bland. Mustard crusted lamb had no mustard crust.
The Grill was a nice discovery—great food, friendly service. It got a bit loud once the room filled up, so go early if you want to talk. The appetizers are a decent size and the entrees are generous. The butterscotch pudding is to die for. BYOB. We will go back when evenings are lighter for the view.
Hamilton's has been consistently great for many years. We sit at the counter and watch Mark or Ben create meaty, fishy masterpieces. Dessert was awesome, try the coconut layer cake if available.
One our most favorite spots! We have vacationed in the area over the past twenty years and this time we made a decision to take the scenic drive from the Philly area back to Long Island. I had the whole Branzino which was PERFECT and my wife had the Veal Chop special with Blue Cheese butter. The Chef REALLY knows how to grill. Also, the you can bring in your own wine makes the dinner top shelf! We will be back !!! Lauren was an excellent server as well.
Great food, great value!
Fantastic! We celebrated a special birthday with special friends. The menu was varied and fresh -- cooked to order, with lots of options for all. Not inexpensive but good value as the food is delicious. Our waiter was knowledgeable, friendly and not a bit pushy in terms of rushing us along or rushing us OUT! BYOB is a plus! The ambience is festive -- sparkly white lights; white table cloths, not pretentious -- rustic / elegance. I would recommend and head back again. Special occasion or not!
Fabulous! We celebrated our 32nd wedding anniversary there. Food was EXCELLENT. We decided on Hamilton grill as we were looking for a BYOB since we brought our own special wines with us for the weekend. We'd definitely go there again....and again.
Always an amazing meal here! Can never get enough of the grilled shrimp and anchovy butter appetizer!!! Recommend everyone to eat here, it is worth the drive - great food and hospitality!
Appetizer and dessert were superb however the main courses were a disappointment. They weren’t very interesting, the vegetables were limp and my filleted bronzino was still full of bones. The waiters arm crossed full of me (which should never happen) and our napkins were plucked out of our water glasses and dropped unceremoniously on the table to make room for the water. Nice evening but I paid for a very nice one and didn’t get it. You also should Espresso.
We have stayed away on New Year's Eve for several years cause we felt the meal and value was sub par compared to dining here on other occasions. Tonight the fOod and service were quite good. However, it was very slow. It seemed as though there was not enough personnel to manage the evening. Certainly the experience was better than previous New Years eves, but they need to work on pacing.
New Year's Eve dinner included luke warm lobster bisque, NY Strip steak under cooked and I could not cut through it with a serrated knife. Never ever going back and I live in Lambertville.
special menu for New Year’s Eve not so special
New Year’s Eve - food was not its normal quality and noise level was very high
Always great food and cozy atmosphere
New Years Eve with family. Ralph
A great spot for a cozy dinner in a unique setting. Very New Hope like. BYO, well prepared dishes, awesome dessert! Not on the main Street so tough to find! Well worth it
Christmas Eve Perfection! Hamilton's Grill Room was the perfect choice this year for our family Christmas Eve tradition. We loved sitting in the Garden Room with all the lights -- so perfect for the holidays. The special menu had so many wonderful choices that accommodated all of our tastes and desires. Everyone was so happy with their choices -- cooked to perfection, innovative and delicious. The service was perfection -- attentive, friendly and knowledgable about the food offerings. One of of favorite top area restaurants and always highly recommend! Buon Appetito!
Disappointed with the quality of the steak. I couldn’t eat my piece because it was so tough. My daughter had same entree and hers was much better.
Waitress forgot our side dish.
We love Hamilton’s! We have been a few times before. We booked for Christmas Eve dinner. Ambience , service and food amazing. We’ll be back!
Nice place to eat, a little difficult to find since it is tucked back in an alley way. More directional signage would be great. Food was good, not too much and not to little in amounts. Remember it is a BYOB.
Anniversary. Very nice they comped our dessert
My daughters 18 Birthday.
