   We are frequent and regular diners at Hamiltons’s. The food and wine list are excellent options and pairings. The wait staff is very knowledgeable and eager to support us. Location and facilities are very good, with management attention to detail. We have especially enjoyed early dinners or late lunches at Hamiltons’s.

   The entree was well cooked and presented. However, the sides were average at best and did nothing to enhance the principal ingredient. Service was quite spotty. Friendly but inconsistent. I left with the impression that the restaurant was understaffed.

   Hamilton's is my go-to restaurant for a good lunch with a friend. The food is consistently excellent (the crab cakes! and also the chocolate torte), and our server yesterday was attentive without at all rushing us, which is good, since my friend and I had a long talk.

   Hamilton’s has always been one of my favorites. The food is always excellent and the service good. We ate outside because I like to watch the people and if the inside is full it can be noisy.

   Overall, food was very good. Shrimp with grits: grits were flavorful but shrimp were simply steamed without seasoning of any kind. Seemed to be a strange flavor gap. Thanks.

    Going downhill. Still adequate and not as good as it used to be. New chef is 85% as good as old chef. Service was slow, which is half of what we care about. That said, it is graduation week and understaffing likely due to needing more servers this weekend.

    I always go back for their coveted corn chowder, but 100% of everything else is excellent. We also had their cucumber and melon chilled soup (with a tasty dollop of herbed crème fraiche) and the ham biscuits were perfect. I make a lot of biscuits and these were clearly homemade. Delish!

    Food was amazing - our party especially loved the shrimp & grits, ham biscuits and crab cakes. Would definitely return! We were bummed that there wasn’t anything on the menu a picky teen would eat, but that was our fault - luckily Christian’s Pizza isn’t too far.

    Great meal catching up with friends. While at a business conference, we chose to walk less than 5 minutes up the plaza for an eaybdinner at 515pm Saturday. We were welcomed andcseatedvright away, party of 2. Professional and friendly waiter was patient with old friends who spent 15 minutes catching up prior to ordering. We had Fabulous Rappahanock oysters. Fried. NOT oily, light panko. YUMMY. I had true MD style crab cakes no filling cooked perfectly. NOT deep fried. Tenderloin was so tender could be cut with a butter knife. Our meal was comfortably paced...and our waiter was always there at just the right moment. My collegue comimented my restraunt selection and we will definately return. Many nice restraunts in C'ville. So nice to dine, enjoy a cocktail and no need to drive. Easy walk back to the Omni on the Plaza. Look forward to return visit. Nice cocktails. Coffee and dessert selections too. Vegan choices too. Outdoor dining available, but we wanted a quiet ace to talk and dine. This wasb5vstarsvall the way AND a great value.

    Everything was great, and although they are very accommodating to remove some ingredients you cannot eat, but that eliminates sauces, for example, that come with many of the main dishes, including soup. I think the menu could be improved for those people who are allergic to foods such as wine, vinegar, sugar, dairy butter, by serving some dish with alternatives, such as lemon, nut butter, honey.

    Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, professional and pleasant. The food was delicious. The scallops as an appetizer were perfectly seasoned and cooked. As entrees, we ordered the shrimp and grits, crab cakes dinner, and rainbow trout. All ingredients were fresh and complimented each other well. Our favorite dessert was the flourless chocolate cake.     We had a delicious dinner; everyone was pleased with their entrees. Two negatives that have never been an issue at this restaurant before: the service was very slow, including our main courses which we could see sitting under the heat lamps. Also, the noise level was distractingly high. Nevertheless, we have a pleasant preshow dinner before the Paramount and I would recommend this restaurant again.

    Food was excellent. Wait staff seemed to be in a huge rush even though it was at 5:15 and hardly anyone in the restaurant. The chair was old, wobbly, and extremely hard. Very uncomfortable. For an upscale establishment, I'm surprised there are so many old uncomfortable chairs.
