Disappointed to find that the vegetarian options have become more limited due to a changed menu.
Joli is awesome!
Food was good but not great.
Ambiance and decor was excellent.
Drinks were great.
Our server and nice and charismatic, but we called ahead about a specific request for our reservation, and the host did not relay this information to our server. No one seemed to care to accommodate our request, despite the fact that the host assured us it would be 100% possible.
I was looking for a sushi restaurant near Century City for a business lunch. I wanted something not too expensive or crazy like some sushi restaurants can be. I read the reviews and scores on Opentable and chose this place. It was exactly what I was looking for, the food was great, atmosphere was casual but cool. I will definitely go here again.
The staff was very accommodating for our party of 11. Wonderful service, helpful food suggestions, the kitchen coursed out the food at a perfect pace to keep us engaged - but not pressured to turn the table.
The food was very enjoyable. Great sushi, appetizers and black cod! The complimentary birthday dessert was a very nice touch!
Food was very good...for the most part. My husband and I are pretty good at navigating menus and made some good selections on our own. This includes the ceviche roll which was so good that I would return just for that and order two the next time. The only bad (as in I would never order again nor recommend) was the pork belly dish which our server absolutely INSISTED was the best thing on the menu and was a must have. Typically, we would not give in, but the server said it not once (we passed on it the first time) but once again we he returned specifically to push this dish as the best thing on the menu. Okay...we caved. Not only was it the most disappointing dish we had all night, and was the last dish of our meal. So not a great way to end what was otherwise a really great meal. I would definitely go back but I would not take any recommendations from the servers.
As always, the understated HAMASAKU scores with its sublime food, thoughtful and personal service and one of the prettiest rooms you will ever find in a strip mall restaurant
I'll use my wife's words - "There is sushi and there is Hamasaku sushi". My kids (sushi aficionados as well) liked it very much during our previous visit.
Fun, casual, great food - on the pricey side but worth it!
Awesome, as usual the quality and experience is one of a kind, highly recommend.
Great quality sushi and great service but very expensive. Definitely will come back.
Always amazing! One of our favorites
great food. took some out of towners and they loved it.
Excellent sushi and service was right on top of it. You ask and you shall receive. Good fresh sushi. Fun rolls. Good wine and saki choices. Tiny little venue tucked in the corner of a strip mall. Well worth finding.
great experience all around!
Great food & great service - always
Good food.We has Sushi Omakase and it was very good.
Recommend this restaurant
I’m sorry to say that our experience here was ‘meh’. We were especially disappointed as we flew in from New Hampshire and wanted to re-visit an amazing sushi experience we had at this s spot several years ago. The food was sadly mediocre. This was no fault of the staff.
We had a great lunch here - the sushi was excellent and we had good service.
Stay away - incomprehensible service at these prices. Too many sushi options in this city for arrogance from a sushi chef
We always enjoy this Japanese restaurant. We liked our waitress, Kaitin.
We plan to return soon.
Service was courteous and prompt. The variety of nigiri and sashimi was overlapped. Overall the lunch tasting menu was good.
This was one of the worst dining experiences I have had in quite sometime. I had gone to Hamasuku two weeks ago and it was very good. However, this time when I returned with my girlfriend it was simply awful. We always sit at the bar when going to sushi restaurants. It's a great way to see how chef's prepare their dishes and to make a human connection with them. On this occasion, we were starving and looking forward to eating a LOT of sushi. However, the bar staff were all so busy doing prep-work, they wouldn't even make eye contact with us. We got two orders...then they went back to prepping. After 20 minutes of being ignored, we paid for our bottle of sake and went to another sushi restaurant. I don't think I will ever go back. They do good work, but there are too many places in LA that treat you better.
We had a delightful experience and our server, Abraham was incredible. He helped guide us through the menu and it was a delicious evening with our visiting NYC friend.....amazing.
This is our favorite Japanese/Sushi restaurant.
The cut rolls are amazing and so delicious.
We have spent special evenings there and we've been dining there for years.
The omakase was okay. The server warned us against ordering it if we wanted to eat sushi but we went ahead and ordered it anyway. It was alright but definitely not worth $75 plus taxes. The server was also kind of sassy and annoying.
Good value considering the quality of the food. Make sure you have a reservation. Only draw back is the noise environment.
From start to finish the service was incredibly rushed, even thought the restaurant was not busy. We had hardly put the last bite of food in our mouths before one of 3 different people appeared to whisk away the plate, whether or not the other person was finished. Food was delicious and imaginative, but no time to savor it.
We love this place , the food is very good . Tasty , fresh and always a good service.
Great find. Quality and freshness of ingredients are key. Excellent combinations!
Interior could use better layout. Food is good and well prepared. I
We love this place the food is amazing, we never were disappointed always outstanding.
We literally had to ask for water 4 times over the course of an hour before receiving any.
Phenomenal service and exceptional quality.
Some of the best sushi in LA. Everything was fantastic and really enjoyed the experience.
Food was fantastic. Sushi chef was sttentive and helpful until his part was done. Then they all forgot about us, leaving us without refilled water, included dessert, or even the bill. It took a half hour and several requests before our omakase meal could be finalized
I love Hamasaku, although I confess that I kind of miss the way it was before the remodel. The Charlize Tacos are still my favorite. Last time there, Abraham took such great care of us and got me to expand my sushi repertoire. Highly recommend this spot.
Service was exceptionally friendly and attentive. Food was good for the most part although I felt the sushi rice was a little gluey. Still--fish was fresh, flavors were on point, and servers were lovely. I would definitely go a second time.
Hamasaku is one of my favorite sushi restaurants. It is in a mini mall, so the location can fool you - The food is really delicious and innovative and they have great service. It is an exceptional restaurant!
