One of the very best sushi restaurants in L.A. Outstanding.
This was a really disappointing restaurant, especially for the price. Went for a nice birthday meal. Ordered the Japanese fried chicken, the steak, the toro salmon roll and the king salmon nigiri. The food was completely inauthentic - the chicken was dry and weirdly seasoned, the steak was tiny and tough, the “toro” salmon was barely sushi grade salmon that tasted like the salmon chunks they sell at Ralph’s, and same with the “king salmon”. The rice was cooked and seasoned incorrectly, falling apart. Our waitress disappeared halfway through our meal without warning, so we were left waiting for the bill for 25 minutes until someone else finally walked over. Would have much rather spent this money and night at any of the other dozens of highly rated Japanese restaurants in LA. No idea why this place has such a good rating.
I haven't been there in a long time and remember it being much better. Everything was good, but nothing was special. It was also quite pricy ($150 for two which included one $30 carafe of saki). The rolls had minimal flavor, was light on fish, and small for the price (6 pieces rather than 8).
Always outstanding food! Love your rolls! Elizabeth, our server, is fabulous...caring, personable, and sweet. Another fantastic dinner at Hamasaku!!!! THANK YOU!
Anniversary celebration !
Visited with my daughter, both of us always compare to Tokyo sushi - this was as close as you can get. Service was impecable!
This is close to my work and it is always consistently great with in all categories. We had a business meeting and some only ate veggie options and they had plenty of options. The sushi is always fresh and the servers are attentive as well. Great for lunch or dinner.
Waitresses were very nice and attentive.
We al had Omakase, it was full of “filler” white fish. Maybe 4 pieces of 14 were “omakase worthy” in my opinion. They would serve themselves and customers much better by offering less and higher quality fish for this meal.
Omakase generally is a guided flavor experience, this was quantity over quality which we found very off-putting. It was a very strange experience, though pockets of it were nice. If we went again, we would definitely not recommend the omakase and would approach the menu very differently.
We had a great night with lots of great food we shared among a group of 9 people. Service was welcoming and the quality of food exceeded our expectations. Also very very reasonable pricing for the quality of the food.
Took a friend from Jersey out for dinner. Had to choose the amazing omakase. It blew my friend away so much he wanted to try Umi in El Segundo for another meal. Hamasaku never disappoints.
Great sushi, nice quiet ambiance.
Hamasaku is one of my go-to sushi restaurants. You can find both traditional sushi and more fusion-type sushi such as soy paper varieties. It's not the cheapest but won't break the bank either. The food is always good.
Always creative, delicious food! Fabulous restaurant and everyone is thoughtful and friendly!!!!
We had the $65 Omakase dinner with $20 sashimi add-on...I think overall it was a good value but not great...all the fish tasted very good but the only real stand out was the Uni...which was super fresh...I would definitely go there again and perhaps order off the ala carte menu...
Outstanding and unique sushi! Everything on the menu is delicious...you can’t go wrong.
the best sushi ever! wish it weren't so expensive but love this restaurant !!
This restaurant has high quality sushi and sashimi served by efficient and friendly servers. We got one sushi omakase and one sushi plus sashimi omakase meal - delicious! We also shared a dessert and had Japanese beer (my husband) and two different Sauvignon Blancs (me). The location is classic SoCal: an unassuming strip mall in west LA. We will definitely be back!
One of the best Sushi places in Los Angeles. Always fresh. Beautifully prepared.
Delicious and creative food...my favorite sushi restaurant! Our waitress, Elizabeth, is fantastic!!!!!
This was by far the absolute best sushi I have ever had. We sat at the sushi bar and had the most exquisite and fresh pieces- the best uni, scallops, and ama ebi. Perfect.
Authentic and extremely fresh sushi in an unsuspecting location! Try the omakase menu for a special treat. 14 unique pieces of sushi, plus seasonal miso soup, appetizer and dessert. You will leave full! Every dish was beautifully presented and if you sit at the bar, the sushi chef will "introduce" each bite. The restaurant is quite large with plenty of seats at the sushi bar. For sushi, I prefer a more intimate setting, but I suppose a larger space makes it easier to get a last-minute reservation, or to come in a large group. Highly recommend!
It took 45 min waiting at the table for the first App to show up. Service was really bad. The food is always good.
Good quality food and attentive service. Food was a bit small in proportion but overall very good.
I used to dine at Hamasaku all the time, but moved on after Toshi left. This was my first time back in awhile, and I and my friend found the food and service to be superb.
food was delicious!! i would come here for lunch or dinner!
One of my favorite sushi restaurants in LA. Always great food, nice atmosphere, and excellent service. Definitely expensive but never disappointed.
The sushi was excellent. The appetizers were also great and innovative. I will say that i wish i could get more dessert though in the omakase.
Amazing service and food
This is a gem of a restaurant, beautiful food, elegant without being fussy, reliably high standard every time.
Hamasaku never disappoints. The fish is always fresh and great quality, the service is polite, non-intrusive, and always good. One of my favorite sushi places for every day dining and great sushi experiences
One of the best sushi restaurants I've been to. Excellent quality fish, and many very unique rolls that are delicious. The interior is appealing and contemporary. I think they have a good beer menu, but I don't drink beer. Saki and wine selections are good.
Best sushi in LA!
food is fantastic. never been disappointed. incredible sushi
Absolutely excellent sushi and everything else is wonderful, too! Great for conversation, too.
1st time there. Great food and service. It was very crowded for a Monday lunch hour and the restaurant quite noisy. However, we were pleasantly surprised and had a lovely meal. We chose this restaurant because it had participated in the PPLA Food Fare and the samples given of yellowtail sushi were terrific. Would definitely go back.
Great food as always however the portions for the price weren’t what I remembered. Great service too. Thank you very much
Food was good but expensive.
Faded jewel of the la fine sushi strip mall experience. Long surpassed by hiko and sasabune.
Great service along with fresh sushi!!
