Hama Sushi in Venice is where you come for solid rolls and a casual party vibe.
The food was very delicious. But it took over 30 minutes to get sashimi. Service was very very slow.
We've been going to Hama for years...it's a comfort-food kind of place. The outside room can get really loud, though, and the tables out there are way too close together, so expect to be making friends with the people squeezing by, or trying to. Not for anyone grumpy or in a hurry, and not for an intimate conversation. But local color and excellent food for sure.
really fantastic and fresh sushi. vibrant atmosphere and great service
Amazing food- never disappoints
Great restaurant with solid service and very tasty Japanese food. Great to hangout with friends, not the ideal location for a cozy date.
Went with my 2 teenagers and we were all excited to eat sushi. The restaurant was highly recommended and it did not disappoint. The flavors were creative and the recommendations were on point.
This place has been the bomb since the 1980s. It STILL has it going on. Excellent food.
Great sushi institution in Venice. Great service, great food, great place to hang out with friends or work mates.
Great sushi and good price for Venice. I'd recommend for sure.
A blind made the experience horrible. She was out of line and had really poor choice of manners and words there was theee of us. I would not go there again. Expensive and small portions. 20-25 $ per roll
I made a reservation via Round Table and the host said I did NOT have a reservation. I asked for her to check again and she was able to see it. I was sat at a table for three, which it was for myself only, I asked to be seated in the main dining area and was not, and was asked to move my seat three times within the dining area so others could sit. NOT a great experience and unable to enjoy my food when moving around so often.
Great fun sushi spot
The best I’ve tried in a long time
Hama Sushi was excellent. Conveniently located to the Venice Boardwalk. Great Food, Service, and Prices!
It was okay but nothing special as we had remembered it. Good for local & quick solution neighborhood restaurant.
Hostess wasn’t friendly otherwise great!
The food at Hama is fine -- not exceptional but good and reasonably priced sushi. It can get a little loud as it is a popular spot. Our server was very nice and the food came at a good pace. The only thing I did not like was the $10 valet parking charge. Parking can be a little tough in the area so if you are a local I recommend an Uber or Lyft as it probably would have been cheaper than parking at the restaurant.
Always solid, great food, good service.
Great place to get together with friends.
It’s the best sushi in Venice beach.
Great happy hour; from 4-7 daily with a good selection of discounted food items (like a hand roll for $6)
The restaurant was very accommodating. Due to traffic, we were going to be late. We called and they held our reservation for us! Food and service was great!
Fantastic food and service, fun athmpsphere and great service. Incredible sushi!!
Hannah is a great --friendly and efficient and offered great recommendations!
Based on a recommendation from one of us, we booked this on Open Table. Happy to find Valet parking and the people seating us were accommodating when we asked to change tables. Unfortunately both halves of the restaurant were extremely noisy (loud voices at table behind us made it hard to hear one another. We ordered drinks - two were missing. Hot tea was never refilled and never offered more water after first two bottles delivered at same time. Dinner from sushi bar took forever. Three diners finished their sashimi platters while two of us waited 20 minutes for two special rolls and I waited more than 30 minutes total for my sushi deluxe.
I've eaten a lot of sushi and this meal was in the high price side ($34 for my order), was good but not special - and the service was the absolute worst I've ever had at a sushi restaurant. I didn't buy the idea that the sushi came out as it was ready - it was an obvious mistake that soured the evening and was a big disappointment for for me and my family on our last night of vacation. Not recommended at all.
Not my first time here, and not my last.
Always solid, friendly service, good food, and cool vibes.
We ordered about a dozen dishes except sushi and sashimi....the Tuna tartare was by far the worst I've ever had, eggplant dish was too sweet, chicken yakitori was ok and salmon teriyaki was edible but the vegetable were completely undercooked. All portions were incredibly small. While Japanese food is my favorite, I would never recommend this place to anyone based on this first experience.
Always a great evening here. Friendly staff and top sushi/seafood
A neighborhood place with good food but nothing exceptional
Great neighborhood place. Bathroom (a good indicator of cleanliness throughout the restaurant) was VERY clean as are the refrigeration cases at the sushi bar. Excellent mackerel and whitefish and some of the best tamago I've had anywhere. We visit LA and stay in Marina Del Rey and this will be our go-to sushi spot!
Excellent sushi rolls and blue crab at happy hour. Service was quick and bar patrons are local and friendly. Arrived around 4pm and beat the 5pm rush for bar stools. Valet parking at 5:30pm.
We loved our time at Hama!! We highly recommend the Hama Roll. Enjoy!!
Jalapeno Yellow Tail....
Ridiculously expensive. Service was ok, food was ok, unique choices but would not recommend.
I hadn't been to Hama Sushi in some time. The food wasn't as great as I remembered...
I always love Hama Sushi. We celebrated a birthday and they did a fantastic job making the bday girl feel special.
I've been going here for 29 years! I still love it. Our waitress was fantastic and made my daughter's birthday extra special.
Sushi rolls are just so-so.
Hama is a Venice Staple and is always fantastic for Sushi! When in Venice a must Visit!
