Available in front of and to the side of Halyards is a secure, large, well lit parking lot. If you would like to drop off your guests at the front door, pull up under our porte-cochere to keep them warm and dry.

It was Valentines Day, so there were a few extra tables set to handle the number of guests. Because of the extra guests, it was a little louder than normal, but not an issue. Our server, Jamie, treated us like we were her only table. Great service, great food, and a very nice "datenight" for two that have been married 42 years. Thanks, Halyards, Jamie, and Chef Dave and his staff!
Halyards was recommended by Debi, from the Grey Owl Inn, as one of three local restaurants on Saint Simons Island. After reviewing the menus of each restaurant, I selected Halyards based on the very discrimenent and select menu provided. The choices off the menu we chose were nothing short of outstanding, prepared perfectly and delicious to our palettes.
The buttermilk fried chicken and the salmon, especially the salmon, was the just one of the highlights of the evening. However, the Chocolate Moouse cake should be illegal.
We will definitely return to Halyards on our next visit to Saint Simons Island.
Emily, the hostess, was excellent! We had to call due to an illness in our party. She took care of us and made us feel welcomed. She greeted us like we were friends when we arrived. The food was delicious. Our server was attentive and knowledgeable. Can’t wait to return on our next visit to the area.
We have ALWAYS enjoyed dining here, however, this occasion was a disappointment. After 18 minutes we finally had to signal a waitress who came over and poured our water, spilling it on the table and held menu. Not acknowledging this, she took our order, said she would return with bread. Our chowder came and she was leaving when we reminded her of the bread. Two of us ordered the dumpling w/ LUMP crabmeat. There was not a smidgen of crabmeat in that dish. The next evening I took my guests to Barbara Jeans and the service, food and price was excellent. Need I say more.
Everything worked well. The waiter was attentive, informative and friendly. The menu was excellent with a really good selection that would suit most tastes.
The food was very good, served hot ~ one of the things we find difficult to understand is that many restaurants serve food that is tepid, luke warm and has obviously been waiting for other dishes to be prepared before being served!
A good choice of wine either by the glass or bottle, prices reasonable.
We were not rushed nor were we left waiting.
Very nice evening and will certainly be returning.
Food is creative yet simple. It’s fresh perfectly seasoned and delicious. The fish is incredible. Cooked to perfection accompanied with shaved Brussel Sprouts and Parmesan with a nut I can’t place. Service was attentive not rushed.

I gave Halyards one star after rating all categories high. The reason for this was an interaction we had with the General Manager of the restaurant. Our party of three arrived for Halyard's happy hour, advertised from five until six pm. We ordered a drink at the bar at the happy hour prices. The bartender, Ricky, was outstanding. Great mixologist and conversationalist. We were seated in the dining room at 5:30 pm. We had a great waiter named Al. He asked if we would like another round of drinks. He stated that we could still get happy hour prices at the bar. I ordered at the bar and the bartender proceeded to fill our order. At this point, the general manager intervened and angrily stated that happy hour prices were for the bar only. This was contrary to what our waiter had told us. The general manager then proceeded to dress down the waiter and bartender in front of me and the guests at the bar. I told the manager that I would be happy to pay full price but he continued to embarrass me, the waiter and the bartender. Where I come from, happy hour pricing extends to the restaurant in general. Those that don't extend that offer clearly state that happy hour pricing only applies in the bar area. Halyards has no such policy stated anywhere. The waiter and bartender apparently didn't know the supposed policy either. I consider the general manager's handling of this situation as being unprofessional and uncalled for. A correct approach would be to speak to the staff privately and not berate them in public. He also made me feel as if I were trying to 'cheat' the establishment. I hope the owner, Mr. Dave S. reads this and has a discussion with his manager. Other than this bad experience, the food was excellent as was the service. I tipped the waiter 30% as I felt badly he had to endure that kind of treatment from a manager. Minimally, the establishment needs to define what their 'happy hour' rules mean. Our 'happy hour' wasn't all that 'happy'.
