Hal's - Buckhead Ratings and Reviews
The food is unbelievably good and the service was fantastic! Only complaint was an obnoxiously loud woman at the table next to us while we were trying to enjoy date night, not much the restaurant can do about that, it was just the luck of the table draw. Valet was a complete nightmare outside and it took over 15 minutes to get someone to come take our car.
Celebrated my birthday at Hals and I had a fantastic time and the food was amazing! Good wine, good after dinner drinks and top of the line service! Best steak in Atlanta hands down! Can't go wrong with Hals!
Thanks to the Hals team, my birthday was definitely one to remember!
Impressive presentation and very knowledgeable server for food as well as wine pairing. Of course the food was out of this world as it always is. It was very crowded and so hard to hear but price you pay for going somewhere so popular. And popular for good reason!
Food was superb as always. Appetizers took awhile and server comped without us asking. Beyond that service was excellent. Perfectly cooked steaks, Delicious Burbant potatoes with carmelized onions, special app of flash fried oysters with crab were the highlights. If you have room for dessert, the bread pudding is a perfect ending. Loved the pianist; when we left patrons were surrounding the piano singing along.
We went after The Big Bulldogs SEC championship victory, the place was very crowded. The staff did all they could to keep us informed, just a busy night, and well worth the wait. Reservation was made on open table, and we had to wait due to the oversized crowd. We were about 45 minutes late on being seated, just have to understand the situation and this huge holiday crowd.
Hal's on Old Ivy is as sharp as a new suit, yet as comfortable as an old shoe. Returning to dine is a return to service, and outstanding drinks, appetizers, steaks, and desserts.
While the beef on the menu is the main attraction to Hal's, the seafood is legend-worthy as well. Oyster appetizers were delicious, prepared ala Drago's in New Orleans, over an open fire grill.
I've eaten before, and I'll be sure to return - I've said it before, and I'll say it again - Hal's is such a fun place to dine. Try it!
The waiter we had at the beginning of the evening wasn’t very attentive and the overall service was horrible. The manager came over and made things better but it definitely made the evening one to forgot. We had problems with the food and how it was ordered. Not sure what the problem was but it’s not something that I’ve been accustomed to at Hal’s. There are so many decent steakhouses in Atlanta that I would hesitate before I go back.
I had reservations at 7 pm pm a Friday night. We were 10 minutes late but were promptly seated upstairs at a cozy table in a corner away from the hustle and bustle of waiter traffic. This was not my first trip to Hal's. I've been going there for 25 years. The ambiance and noise level can sometimes be very loud but it was just right on this trip. After hearing about the specials I ordered the lobster tempura and crabmeat appetizer and the red snapper franchese which is always on the menu. My girlfriend ordered trout. All of it was excellent and the piece of snapper that I had was the best snapper that I've had in 15 years. Service was on point and we never felt rushed but were in and out in 1 hour. Very good experience overall!!
My wife and I, travel quite often and have been to several restaurants from California to Georgia. Although the food tasting was good it was way over priced where as I can get the same quality of food and Longhorn. I know and understand a high-end restaurant quality but for the price of my bone in ribeye and the ounce size I could have went to Longhorn maybe that's something you guys should look at thank you.
Awful service. We had a reservation for 5 and we when got to the table, there were only 4 chairs and 4 place settings. We had to ask more than 3 separate times for silverware. When we finally got our meal, 4 of the 5 steaks came out together and the final steak took an additional 5 minutes. Finally, one of the steaks was extremely rare - still moo-ing. I love Hal’ but this was not a good experience
My bf has never been to Hal's so I decided to take him for date night. Unfortunately, our server was not attentive and took his time with everything. I literally watched him as he watched a football game as we waited for oh check. I've been to Hal's many times but this is, by far, the worst experiences I've had.
