Hal’s is an Atlanta gem. It’s a cozy but lively place! The food is exceptional...especially the steak. The service is quite impeccable. Does not disappoint for a special occasion!
Not very comfortable in regards to social distancing. Food was great as always. Also, not sure if it is due to covid but the crowd is different than it use to be. Used to be a sport coat and nice dressy type place but had several t shirts + jeans type patrons which was surprising. Hopefully the world (including Hal’s) gets back to normal soon..
Food and service was excellent as always. The restaurant was very crowded and occupied tables were in close proximity. It was an uncomfortable situation during the current situation with a pandemic.
Amazing food and excellent service !!
Nice place, good food , lighting too low. The worse was the noise level was extremely loud. Perhaps consider putting large groups in a separate section.
Had an early reservation, 7pm, while seated they kept packing the restaurant just like normal times, with no consideration of Covid-19.
Great service, atmosphere and food, as always. Hal's has been on my top 3 list of best restaurants in Atlanta for several years.
We chose to take seats at the bar to enjoy dinner. Love the bartenders, Lindsay was very attentive & made a mean dirty martini. The steak was perfectly cooked, love the creamed spinach. We opted to start with the raw oysters, amazing mignonette accompanies the oysters. We chose to add the lobster bite appetizer as an additional side dish to our steak. They were little bites of fried heaven. So tasty!!!
One thing I forgot is they allow smoking downstairs at Hal’s, cigarettes can ruin a meal for those not smoking. The music was a mood killer, wish they had better entertainment.
The scene is part of the experience, love to chat w/the people sitting next to us or overhear the crazy pickup lines happening all around us.
Another interesting date night at Hal’s.
Always a treat. Even got to speak to Hal!
Great spot. Very pricey but good. Steaks are a must. Fabulous wine list.
VERY Disappointed ... next time we'll go to Bones or The Palm. ---- This was a BIG birthday for my wife. I noted that on the reservation, and even called and spoke to the hostess. All said "we got it!" I specifically asked that they acknowledge her birthday. .... All evening NO ONE person said anything to her about her special day and special evening. NO ONE! When we were leaving she said sadly "You know, it was odd - no one said a thing about my birthday. I was surprised." I personally was not surprised, I was both disappointed and angered. At $100+ per person I would have expected much more. Hal's may be a great place for people who like to look at themselves in the mirror, but I cannot recommend it for personal attention - that was my experience. Food is good, but hey I can get a good steak at many other places. We did a birthday meal at Bones recently and had multiple greetings, confetti/glitter on the table, balloons, the proverbial whole nine yards. In sum, Hal's YOU BLEW IT!!!
Great place, terrific food, waiters are top notch. While it’s crowded in spite of being enlarged several times it iscomfortable. I’ve eaten at Hal’s for the last 33 years and, while not cheap, it’s consistent and worth it.
I looooooove this restaurant ! I went to celebrate my 1 anniversary and it was worth it . Security was at the door so I felt really safe . Appetizer & food came out at a good time . The food was hot and the STEAK WAAAAAAAS DELICIOUS . Server was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave great suggestions since it was my first time . A+ for me
Overall great. The server was not very friendly but food was great and the rest of the staff was amazing!!
Once again great experience!
Great food and superior service !
It was not covid compliant. There were too many people sat close together which ruined my experience.
Discrimination is evident. Dress code is enforced based on who you are and what you look like. They judged wrong with us. We were made to put on a jacket with collar in Covid times, yet many others were inside with no collar or jacket. Will not visit again. No social distancing at tables or at the bar. Shared my concern with the doorman and he said some people are allowed in and some are not. Is it the dress code or the African American code.m? Not fair or consistent. Mission accomplished.
It was absolutely amazing! It was my first time dining at Hal’s and it was an excellent choice to celebrate my birthday! I’ll give it 5 stars.
Hal's never disappoints on food, ambiance, or service!
Excellent atmosphere the drinks and steaks were amazing!
We had a delicious meal with good friends. It was a great evening
It was amazing as always
Our waiter Hakan sp? was amazing! He took excellent care of us and made our first visit and my birthday experience all the best. Enough about him lol the food was great!! Everyone enjoyed their food. No complaints. Will definitely be back to this hidden gem!
The food at Hal's, as always, was outstanding. My wife and I, however, were uncomfortable with the lack of coronavirus precautions being taken. Although the staff wore masks, the place was absolutely packed -- especially around the bar area. It certainly did not appear to us that social distancing was in play at all as the tables were right up next to each other (in their ordinary configuration). Needless to say, we won't be back until the pandemic ends.
4 of us had steaks all excellence cooked exactly as we requested. Superb experience from start to finish
Concerned with how close tables were placed together.
The food was great and good on the palate, but a little bit more butter than I like. I really love the service. I don’t think I’ve ever had such great service in my 53 years of living. Not even at home.
Everything was fine except that
Quality of food is great but the slightly better than ordinary taste and lack of originality take from this. High end restaurants need to constantly be improving and I feel like I could have received the exact same meal from them 15 years ago. Sides need a complete re-do and refresh. Not even the best to begin with.
Service is less intimate than most places as we literally had 4 people visiting us every 5 minutes - which meant we were constantly interrupted by people asking the same exact questions. Very annoying.
Food was great. Staff was great.
Bone in filet was great as was the service and wine selection. Would highly recommend
Another excellent meal.....total experience was wonderful
Had a great time at Hals. We opted to have a private room as it was Saturday and we preferred to be as socially distant as possible.
Excellent, we always come back because of the service and ambiance
Birthday, it was fabulous except fir the table next to us with a bunch of women who kept their flashlights on their cameras the entire evening. Very rude
Every time I come here I have an Amazing time this is my Favorite restaurant Great atmosphere food and service Thanks again Hal’s
I’m not from the area, and did not expect the “expensive” ambiance. Valet parking (because we weren’t able to find any anywhere else), dim lighting & candles for every table. I had the rack of lamb which was DELICIOUS! My friend had the fish & crab meat, but felt that the fish was way too oily. Other than that, it was a great stop!
The service was outstanding. Our waiter had a great personality too. Drinks were great and the food, as always, outstanding.
