Great experience. They took us in early since we arrived 45 mins early. Staff and service was great; service staff met every need and were so personable and a delight.
Unbelievable food, service, and attention to detail.
Hals is a classic but my manager was not impressed and well neither was I. It’s WAY too dark, and you feel like you’re in a mob hangout. Of course, everything is pricey.
Our waiter was...not the best and once it started getting busy, he couldn’t handle his section. Was an alright dinner, don’t plan on going back anytime soon though.
After not living in the US several years, I had to go back to Hal's to have the duck that I remembered. It was just as good as it had ever been.
I had heard that Hal’s was the best steakhouse in town.
My wife and my experience was not that great.
The ambiance was very good-quite cozy, and the prices for a top notch restaurant were not as outrageous as I was expecting.
Our issue was the service and the some issues with the food.
We had a 9 pm appointment and had to wait at the bar and then after having drinks, we waited some more to get our orders taken.
Our waiter appeared to be frenetic and somewhat ADD, but he was fine overall.
The food was mixed—-
The garlic bread, oyster appetizers, and salad were very good. My wife’s trout almondine was excellent!
My $58 steak was very charred on the outside and a bit salty; whereas the spinach was very salty. The lobster Mac ‘N Cheese was good but very liquidy?
Overall, a good dining experience, but nowhere near what I had expected based on my friend’s recommendations.
I chalk it up to late night dining with the second shift chefs?
As usual the food was excellent. We felt rushed by our server and didn’t enjoy that part of the experience. This was my third time at Hal’s. Not sure I would go back. When I pay that much for a meal I don’t want to be rushed
Food was excellent. Service was great. Noise level was so uncomfortably loud that it is doubtful we’ll be returning. Literally spent the meal shouting to hear each other.
Hal’s was highly recommended. Celebrated my wife’s birthday. Food and service were superb. Expected noise/ conversation level to be elevated. Steaks and sides were wonderfully prepared. Lobster bisque was tasteful and enjoyable. Celebration slice of freshly cut strawberry cheesecake tasted homemade and was more than enough for two to share. Our Server Alberto was excellent and attentive. Valet parking was convenient and the two young men work quickly and purposeful. Pianists was good, but the music faded into conversations. Hostesses were polite and we were seated immediately although we arrived early for our 715 PM Reservation. Make Reservations. Hal’s is very crowded on Saturday evening.
Strong cocktails, delicious steak, and excellent service. Will be back again.
Hal's continues to be a favorite restaurant of ours. By far the best steak I have ever had. The sautéed mushrooms, roasted Brussel sprouts, truffle mac and cheese and chocolate cake dessert are all absolutely amazing! Expensive, but a meal to remember!
Had a fabulous experience, my husband’s birthday and they came out with his favorite!! Cheesecake. We did bring a bottle
Of wine from our cellar because it was his 50th but they would not allow us to open😢 because of new policy other than that dinner was fabulous!
Good atmosphere and food was excellent. The servers were knowledgeable. Only issue would be more side options.
have eaten here before so it was a deliberate pick for a birthday celebration. Drinks were nice if not overwhelming. Food was excellent (swordfish and bass). Desserts were tasty. Service was spot on. Only downer was that it was quite loud for middle of the week and in fact we were happy to be seated in a back room by ourselves. Unfortunately a party of 6 young men were seated and they were LOUD and CRASS and UNDERdressed. We'll return and give it another try. The food is worth returning for.
Dinner was amazing and the staff was superb!!! Definitely worth it.
We have never had a bad meal a Hal's. This past Saturday night was exceptional. Our Server, Michael, was on point. The food was absolutely delicious. We will be back soon as we live nearby!
Delicious food, great service, Strong wine list. I could do without the cigars and smoke. Very loud. But I would go back and recommend.
Love the fact this is a no kids environment, but that is where the love stops.
The atmosphere is nice but the noise level is horrible. The food was not prepared properly and there were several mistakes. Over cooked rare steak, waiter just brought the wrong deserts, and did not hear out desert order at first. $500+ dinner for for four. I expect better.
Maybe if it was a slow night it would have been better. However not a busy one. We will not be back.
Maybe the BEST steak in ATL. Excellent service. Noisy. If you are concerned about cigarette. Smoke, ask for upstairs dining.
Always top notch. Stellar steaks, sides, and service
We had a table upstairs. Service was fantastic. We enjoyed (me) a bone in filet with bearnaise sauce and (husband) a bone in ribeye with cajun seasoning and shared sides of brussel sprouts and mac and cheese - this is the best steak I can remember in recent years. We have heard about this place many times over and took advantage of a birthday to try it out. A "must eat" in Atlanta for sure!
Was disappointed in the service this time around! It’s always a great place to eat. Me and my wife got bone in rib eyes and when done asked them to box up both steaks! We opened the box and they only boxed one😕 brought it to our servers attention and all he could say is sorry! Bad service for a $67 something steak! We did not press the issue but a credit back or re-placement would of been nice. We will consider Kevin Rathbuns next time!
One of the Best steak you will ever eat! Always great food and SCOTT rocked!!! Date night for my wife and I.
Hals always has stellar service and great food. Every waiter we've had has been super knowledgeable and helpful.
Service was A++. Food was A+. Pricey but worth the money.
Very very loud. Too many tables in too small a space. Steak was below average at best.
When I am in Atlanta for business, I always try to include Hal's for one dinner. They never disappoint and I like introducing others to this great spot.
Outstanding food. Appetizers were amazing-mussels were my favorite. Entrees were all perfect-lamb, snapper and steaks (fillets and ribeyes) all cooked to perfection. This was my first visit to Hal’s. It was crowded and noisy but food quality was worth it-will definitely be back.
We love this place but the exhaust from the kitchen, added to people smoking, makes this place a little too much to deal with at times. The food is always delicious and does keep us coming back .
Food and service were outstanding; the atmosphere is fun and lively. The only negative was we had a reservation, but had to wait 15-20 minutes in a very crowded area to be seated.
Bradley, the manager, introduced himself and made us feel very welcomed. Food was delicious.
Michael was our server and he was amazing!!! Great recommendations for dinner and wine.
As always Hal's was a great dining experience!! I have yet to find a steak anywhere better than Hal's Signature Filet.
The restaurant is too dark inside , difficult to read the menu. I felt the tables are too small and too close together. Very hard to walk between the tables when leaving.
Food and service is outstanding. Had the best steak, maybe ever.
Love Hal's-consistent great foood and great service. It is loud but the upstairs is better for carrying on conversation.
Alberto was awesome. Can’t believe we’ve waited this many years. Can’t wait to get back.
Best gumbo I've ever had by far and the best steak I've ever had! And trust me, it hurts to say that cause Chops in Atlanta, Berns in Tampa and the Chophouse in Chicago were my favorites until now. I had the NY Strip Oscar style but couldn't put the bearnaise sauce on it cuz it didn't need it. Absolutely amazing experience. And the cherry on top is the ability to smoke a stogie at the bar. The ventilation was excellent!
Although, we had great experience the only downer was that smoking was allowed in the bar area
