Hall Street Grill - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
My wife and I have been to Hall Street a number of times and have always enjoyed the experience. Sadly this time we were let down. We had reservations for 7:00 pm and when we arrived we were told they were running late and it would be 10 or 15 minutes. Okay, no big deal. After 10 or 15 minutes they told us every few minutes that it would be just a couple more minutes. We were finally seated a little after 7:35 pm. Our waiter took a little longer than he should to come by the table and when he did he saw we were dining with a Groupon and was going to be "right back" with the Groupon (Chef's Special) menu. That took another 10 minutes or so. While we were waiting for the menus we ordered a bottle of wine, which it turned out they were out of, but of course they had plenty of (more expensive) options available. When the appetizer was delivered the waiter asked if we wanted bread and butter to go along with the next (salad) course. We said yes, but it never arrived. Shortly after receiving the appetizer the waiter came back to inform my wife that they were out of the Mahi Mahi but they had another seafood dish they could substitute, to which she agreed. When we got our meals they were delicious, but the service and organization that evening could have been much better.
We were there for Valentines Day. When we mentioned that our waiter wasn't very attentive, the restaurant manager went above-and-beyond to make our special night exceed expectations. We enjoyed a memorable dinner and would definitely recommend this restaurant. We will return ourselves.
Service was outstanding. The food was good- pea salad and wedge salad great. The raviolis were delicious, the sole was okay- mainly deep fried and sad to say a bit greasy for such a good piece of fish, but all in all the meals were enjoyable. The bread pudding was excellent. It is a bit pricey- but the ambiance for a special occasion was worth it.
The dinner was excellent believe it not the mashed potatoes actually tasted liked they should and the veggies were great my prime rib was very tasty and tender.
However your draft beer selection needs some additions how about some really good Oregon draft beers, (IE) widmere Hefe the wine selection needs some work too, Oregon has some work class Pinior Noir wines .!!!!!
all in all it was an excellent experience and great food.
This has always been one of our go to restaurants for special occasions. We have always had the most wonderful service and the food is something that was fabulous. I am not sure what happened to this place between last May and this February but something has changed and not for the better. We were given a table that was right next to a busing station and within 15 feet of the Kitchen. The noise level was incredible. Our waiter was inattentive and slow. The food however was the biggest disappointment. There was no seasoning to anything. I do not think that the chef has ever heard of salt and pepper. If they think that putting truffle butter on the steak will make an unseasoned piece of meat taste fabulous, then they are wrong.. Very overpriced for what we got. We will sadly have to find another place to go for celebrations on the Westside now that this restaurant is off our radar permanently.
We had the 4 Course Meal Deal, I would not recommend it. Our appetizers not on deal were outstanding, "mushroom chèvre strudel"and our favorite "pea salad" . The coconut prawns were soaking in sweet chili sauce, the caesar was bland and the mahi-mahi was too sweet with mango salsa and sugary puree. The steak was cooked perfectly with fingerling potatoes . The creme brûlée was excellent with a yummy brittle on the side.
Horrible service. Our table was not ready at the time of our reservation. After our server introduced himself, it took so long for him to return that a manager who stopped by to see how everything was, then offered to take our order. In fact, only twice through the entire night did the same person stop by our table. Food was good. Not great though. Menu says all meats are "prime" but were obviously not. Not bad, but I often buy prime for special occasions at home, and this was "choice" at best. Prices were WAY out of line. Maybe if service and food was better, but $38 for a 10 oz prime rib is a bit much for a lesser class of meat that was obviously not a full 10 oz. Lots of other area restaurants are just as nice and just as good for far less than half the price!
We were a party of six. Four had sole and two had chicken. The sole was basically tasteless. The sauce was non-existent. The chicken was good, but lacked savoriness. A little seasoning would have gone a long way. The chicken was billed with Brussel sprouts and saffron potatoes. If there was any saffron, one of the most easily recognizable and tasty spices, on the dish I didn't find it. The Brussel sprouts however were exceptionally good. The chicken itself was cooked to perfection and very, very tender. Just no revealing taste.
Had a wonderful experience and meal. Reservations were easy. Waitress was very attentive, friendly and professional. Handicap access was problematic; limited signed parking spaces and several stairs to navigate. Even with that, the dining experience was outstanding.
First night had great sweet onion soup, salmon and creme brulee. Second night ordered filet mignon but got sliced tenderloin mixed with fingerling potatoes in a jumble, not what was expected. Extremely slow service; sat for 45 min. with nothing. Pacing bad both nights. Food generally good and nice surroundings.
The bad part of our experience dealt with the reservation. We made a reservation for 5:00 pm. We arrived at 5:00 pm and sat there as other people were seated. After 20 minutes I asked the receptionists if there was a problem with our reservation and she said no; however they seated someone else in our place. We were not happen about this since the dinning area was mostly empty.
The food was good. My wife ordered beef tenderloin. She thought it would be just a single piece tenderloin; however it came sliced in individual pieces and she made the mistake of ordering it "medium well". I ordered the prime rib "medium rare" and it was great, very tender. We ordered the bread pudding dessert which was very good.
We love this restaurant, but encountered a strange situation on this visit. We were out shopping and decided to make a quick reservation for 5 pm. We got there earlier than we expected so we checked in with the hostess and got a drink from the bar. The bar was completely full so we sat in the waiting room and were the only ones there. Over the next half hour the waiting area filled up. At 5, I checked in with the hostess to remind her that we had the 5 pm reservation. She acknowledged that. After a few minutes she started seating people that had just arrived. After about 4 couples went ahead of us, I asked the hostess if we were still on the list and she said yes. Then she proceeded to seat 2 more parties. I then asked if we were still on the list and even though I was frustrated, I was polite. She responded that we would be next. Immediately after the conversation, she seated another party. I couldn't believe that this was happening and made direct eye contact without saying anything. She finally took us to our seats. So, was it because our reservation was through open table? Seriously, what was wrong with her?
We had a great meal and great service, so her rude behavior will not ruin my review, but it makes you wonder...
Food was average. Over priced for the quality. Too salty, steak was tough. Wine way over the top. I don't mind payable a large buck but not well spent here. Please note we had paid 55 for a 100 groupon and a limited menu but not like those foods weren't on the menu. Food wasn't bad mind you, just average. Service was great.
The food was wonderful, our waitress provided excellent service, and we were seated at a nice table in the back where it was more private feeling. This is definitely a spendy place for dinner, but great for a special occasion. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was because even though I had made a reservation, we weren't seated until almost 20 minutes after the reservation time because they were backed up.
Hall Street is our favorite restaurant in the Beaverton area: servers are personable, friendly and efficiently professional. The food is excellent. The only issue was the New Year's Eve special: steak and lobster steak was cooked perfectly, but the lobster portion was so tiny I could barely tell I had any. Maybe they were running out of lonster Nevertheless, the dish was delicious. I would probably choose a different entree next time.
The waiter was outstanding. My steak was great but the Mahi Mahi had too much going on for it to be enjoyable. It was hard to define the macadamia nut nut crust with the mixed relish on top. Add that with the root compote which seemed overly sweet with the parsley. Dessert and our company was awesome too.
We had two staff members that seemed overworked or inconvenienced by our party. I had noted that we were celebrating a 76th birthday yet nothing was said to express that it was noted. Had to ask for bread. The birthday joys steak was seriously under cooked. We hesitated to tell our waitress, but did. Her response was a flat "oh I'll tell the cook". The hostess allowed us to sit with coats draped over the seat. It wa ls the young man with water that offered to hang them. I seldom if ever write complaints--but I was disappointed. Only positive was an excellent salmon dinner.
