So happy that HGS has reopened. Fried Chicken sandwich and Guava lemonade were fantastic as always!

We went to HGS twice, the first time just to experience the food. We loved it! Bev’s crab pizza and onion soup to start. My husband rated the onion soup as the best he’s ever had. Bev’s pizza is smooth and delicious- I would have liked it a little “crabbier”, but it was delicious as is. Then the ahi poke bowl for me. This combo is truly ono- the sauce on the ahi perfectly complements the tender fish. My husband had the burger, done just right.

We came back for lunch after a drive to Haleakala. Fish tacos for me with a pineapple and crunchy veg salsa on top. The fish was perfectly seasoned mahi-mahi. My husband had the barbecued ribs- falling off the bone tender.

The crowning touch was the chocolate macadamia nut pie. Decadent dark chocolate, lots of whole macadamias inside and a chocolate crust with a caramel coating. Heaven!

We loved the laid back atmosphere here and the friendly servers.

Always special. They are doing their best to accommodate the Covid restrictions and provide a positive guest experience. The food as usual is outstanding . . . fish tacos and chicken cobb we delightful! One of Hawaii's best!

Food was prepared well and very tasty. Great service and worth the drive from Kaanapali.

We dined in their outside seating area and loved it! Food quality was amazing as usual, service and staff are very nice and accommodating. I missed the Crab Pizza & Sashimi Napoleon so much while they were closed last year!

Friday night out for dinner is not the same when restaurants can only have 30% capacity now. Luckily that doesn’t affect the friendly and attentive staff and delicious menu.

Exquisite food and service. Highly recommend for well crafted, locally sourced, farm-fresh cuisine.

We love this spot! We had Dale as our server- he’s incredible professional and friendly - he’s an institution! My partner had the best onion soup he’s ever had, and my salad was absolutely delicious as usual. Highly recommend this place!

The male manager was amazing. My fiancé had ordered a cocktail that was just not up to par and the manager came over because he noticed I wasn’t doing so great and took it off our tab (you were amazing). The waitresses were nice but the hostess was very unprofessional. The food was edible but nothing spectacular for the price point. It was just a bit disappointing that the ribs tasted just like the ones from Costco slathered in ketchup. I once order the crab pizza and soon found out they actually use the crab mix from Costco and put it on a piece of bread and call it pizza. I gave the place a chance because of the cute atmosphere but that was overwhelmed by my disappointment in the menu. I had signified that I was there on a special occasion but no such treatment was prepared. this is not the place to come for a special occasion

This is one of my favorite restaurants! Excellent food and excellent service!

We accidentally drove by and discovered Hali’imaile General Store about 25 years ago-and make it a point to eat here once or twice every trip to Maui-15 trips and counting!!

A $42 fish plate advertised as “the fresh catch of the day” was not accurate nor was it macadamia nut crusted. It was just Panko crusted unseasoned frozen mahi mahi.

Blacked Tofu was just seared unseasoned tofu... for $26 with giant chunks of carrots, green beans a s peppers. Could have been more carefully julienned.
Beer was room temp in a warm glass.

High end prices.. low end quality.
Bill $125 with tip for 2 people and I get better food everytime at Paia Fish Market or Whole Foods.

Won’t return.

Wanna support local but its hard to justify going back for that.

Absolutely fantastic. Loved the vegetarian menu!! Especially the Mushroom steam buns. The waiter was awesome! Sorry but I forgot his name.

As always the food was fantastic. Well worth the drive. Everyone needs to go here

My husband and I heard great things about this place and they definitely did not disappoint. The ribs were falling off the bone, the poke bowl was to die for and the Maui mule was delicious! Highly recommend

Fabulous new outdoor dining - tables spaced apart, nice breeze. Excellent food and service. Thanks to Bev for reopening - one of our favorite local dining spots.

It was alright. Service kind of messed up our order through the night giving our order to the wrong person in our table. The flow of appetizers to our main entree and dessert was to long of a wait. Food was alright, the only 2 dishes that highlighted the night was their duck bun and korean braised short ribs. We had multiple food on the table but those 2 were the most memorable. It was our first experience for all of us dining there but I think we'll stick to our usual spots. It was cool trying someplace new though 🤷🏽‍♀️

We opt to sit outside bad mistake. It was cold, raining, crazy wind. It made for a very uncomfortable dining experience since we out in a tent. People were covered in blankets and freezing.
The food was mediocre. While I’ve eaten here several times since I live right down the street the food was nothing to write home about. We had the seafood pizza. Can someone please tell me what was on that? It tasted like cream cheese with some crab and other chopped seafood. It’s not a good mix. Why not try something like shrimp, crab and lobster with mixed greens baked on the crust. It taste way better without all the cheese.
The coconut curry was the other dish we had. If you were trying for a Thai twist maybe a little lemongrass and lime would work. We also had the ahi salad, ok it was decent but not great. There was no dressing to speak of on it so I had to ask for some more. The only really good thing was our waitress. She was attentive, sweet and very obliging.
While we are desperately in need of good restaurants here on Maui we went to HM general store because in the pass we have been given great food and a great service. It really bums me out when I spend that kind of money and know I can do better at home.
Better luck next time I guess!

Our experience is generally excellent at HGS. This time, though, they did not have fish during the lunch period. Disappointing.

We ate there 2 times in the last week. While the dinner menu and food is good, it is a bit pricey compared to other good restaurants in the area. It was for a special occasion, but if not, I would recommend going at lunch for a better value.

Long time great restaurant. Now working hard to delivery a wonderful experience though very challenging. Spacing, service, ambience alL nicely done. Reduced menu is good, but down a notch from pre pandemic times. More fresh fish options is probably beyond already heroic performance. Thanks for coming back. Highly recommended as part of the heart and sole - pono - of Maui

Was disappointing compared to many prior visits. Seated in back room which seemed like a storage closet. Food and drink were no where near the previous quality. 4 people $300 with a tip and never once did a manager even ask if all was well. This was our 2nd recent visit last week we ate with friends and had an even worse experience so I felt it was time to say something! We live nearby and want to return so please put someone on the floor to get the previous quality back!

We so enjoyed eating "outside" in the large tent with the very tall Christmas tree. We hope you will maintain this tent for the future.
As always, the food was so very good. The staff were superb, remembering me by name and singing Happy Birthday to me.

My husband and I went to this restaurant for the first time. We’ve been to Maui multiples for vacation (from Seattle) and wish we had discovered this gem of a restaurant much sooner. We sat in the tent outside, and it was lovely. The string lights, Christmas tree and soft music was a magical way to soak in the holiday spirit. The service was amazing and food was spectacular. We will be coming back, and highly recommend.

COVID note - we felt safe the entire time. They called us ahead of time to confirm our reservation and explain their Covid protocols.

The service and the food were excellent. I had the macadamia nut crusted fresh catch and my son had the coconut seafood curry. Both were excellent.

Everything was excellent. Sandy our server is always excellent, friendly and attentive. Menu is limited from pre Covid but we hope it’ll expand soon. We always go back, it’s the best in UpCountry.
