Half Note Lounge Ratings and Reviews
My husband and I was celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary. We were greeted at the door and allowed to choose our seat at the open table. The waitress was very attentive to our needs and the food arrived in a timely manner. The food was very good. I enjoyed the barbecue ribs, mash potatoes and broccoli dinner. We had a great time listening to the music and entertainment. It was Karaoke night and we enjoyed it very much. We definitely will return in the future.
Took my hubby to the Half Note on a Wednesday evening to celebrate his birthday. Dinner was delicious; we started with the teriyaki chicken wings, he had the (colossal) fried shrimp, i had the crab cakes (w/ mac-n-cheese & collard greens). We also shared an order of corn bread. All of our food was hot and well seasoned.
The DJ was spinning until Be'la Dona Band too the stage @ 8 PM and rocked the house! They took old &neo sould and made nice mid-tempo danceable tunes out of em. We has a ball!
2 bottles of wine, 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, desert and great music for less than $120!
WE ENJOYED IT ALL!
For our first time going it was frustrating to be seated and not greeted again till about 10mins later. We we're somewhat lost as to what to expect and when someone finally came she was rude and they ended up switching her. It took for ever for the food to arrive and it was basically empty at the time we were there. It seems like a nice place but could be more customer oriented.
This is a nice local place to hear good jazz. The service was great. The food was delicious; my husband is still raving about the fried chicken five days later. Lol. He wants to go back just for the chicken alone. It was our anniversary and from the door, the hostess, our server and even the band recognized our special day. They even dedicated a song to us. They went out of their way to make it a memorable night. We will go back!
The experience was enlightening with great atmosphere along with old classic songs to sing along to for a nice Sunday afternoon, food was surprisingly good , macaroni and cheese, collard greens and fish ; as well as the delicous crab legs. to top it off with some desert; assortment of cakes, from carrot to banana; as well as some good fresh fruit.
Great food, wide selection included crab legs, fried chicken, shrimp, jambalaya, mac and cheese, cheese grits and much, much more. Oh and did I mention the complimentary mimosa that's included when you arrive at your table? I only wish it were a little less cramped. It makes it difficult for the servers and people to go to the buffet to be served. I've partied there many nights for their live band, but have NEVER eaten a full meal there. I will definitely be back and have recommended it do friends as well.
Wanted a nice, quiet place to have dinner and some good music. Got there around 6:00 on Jazz Wednesday. Had dinner and some great conversation. Was a little disappointed with the food. It wasn't bad, just nothing special. When live music started it got a little noisy but not to the point where it was unbearable. Overall experience was positive and I would definitely go back again.
I always enjoy brunch and Half Note. I've been to Happy Hour once.. and it was nice as well. The waitress was very friendly- but did disappear a few times on us.. but no biggie. She more than made up for that with her warm hospitality. The Omelet and Waffle guys were great- very pleasant. If Half Note insists that their staff portion out the buffet food ( which I hate), then the staff should try to smile more. Nonetheless- the food was great and the portions were plentiful.. and the staff was more than willing to offer and extra serving. Nice job! I would rate this place a 9.5 ... only because the customer service is 99%.. ( I was really impressed how the hostess offered me a mimosa upon showing me to my seat- but when my cousin arrived- she didn't get the same service. I'm certain it was an oversight- but love is in the details and this place certainly has what it takes.
On Nov.13, 2014 my wife and I took a family member to the Half-Note Lounge to celebrate her birthday and she loved it. They did NOT HAVE THE RESERVATION we made through Open Table but seated us with no problem. The female group performing did a great job and entertained the packed house. The waitress gave us great service and brought our drinks in a timely fashion. The food was a generous amount and prepared according to our tastes. Overall a GOOD NIGHT on the town in Bowie, Md.
I was quite impressed with this restaurant. The servers were professional and friendly and the food was very tasty. My friend was visiting from out of town and wanted to meet for brunch so I googled and found the Half Note Lounge. It was a pleasant find. I was impressed when the server presented us with an additional Mimosa at no extra charge because the previous one served to my friend had been poured in the "wrong glass for a Mimosa." My friend and I would never have known the difference, lol! When my friend and I asked another staffer to take our picture, she took several for us willingly and cheerfully. Will definitely visit again!
I came here for brunch with a few friends. The food was very good and the ambiance was nice. They offered a variety of food for brunch (breakfast as well as dinner selections). I especially liked the omelet and waffle station. I will return for brunch and would to check out the jazz/happy hour..
We attended brunch at the Half Note Lounge and the food was really good and the selection was desirable. However, the wait staff was very inattentive. Although it was buffet style, when you needed a drink or anything else the entire wait staff just seemed to be standing around socializing. Also, with the cost of the brunch, unlimited mimosas should be included. Getting one "complimentary" and paying $8.00 for each additional is a bit ridiculous.
I requested to be placed in one of the areas up front of the lounge two weeks prior to my party but was placed in the back...however, the food was fantastic and the server was very accommodating. Overall, my experience was pleasant and I would recommend The Half Note Lounge.
A small group went there for birthday brunch celebration. The food was rationed out by unconcerned and robotic servers. Food was, in many cases. cold and not seasoned very well. Southern style breakfast food included all the usual fare, but nothing special The organization of the buffet was confusing and not customer friendly. Free Mimosas were poured and just sitting on a shelf in the window getting warm and flat. The place is not bad in terms of decor, but it is badly in need of someone who knows the food service industry and how to make dishes interesting. Also the place is called the Half Note, but no music was played during the brunch time frame. I will not go again.
I've visited Half Note on Friday for happy hour and the food, drinks and ambiance was very nice.
This was my first time attending the "Brunch". The food was ok, it wasn't hot/just room temperature. The Omelet station needs improvement ( the eggs were watered down to stretch them). All in all it was nice for my first time, and I do plan on trying it again.
I think the food was seasoned very well, it tasted Great. I ordered Ribs (pork), macaroni and cheese, fried chicken and collard greens. Everything was excellent. I mean this food was soooooooo good, I was impressed. This location gets 5 stars from me, from the sevice to the music to that amazing food. That was my first time going and I will be back again soon with family and friends. I love, love, love this place.
My husband and I went for brunch this past Sunday for the first time and had a pleasant experience. The hostesses and server were welcoming. The variety of food was well seasoned and cooked - very tasty. Would definitely go back for Sunday brunch. Looks like it could also be a fun place in the evening with the live music.
My brunch experience was a little disappointing. The food was good but the servers seemed so aloof. I had to keep repeating myself as to what I wanted and the portion size was so small you had to keep coming back to the line. The waiter came to the table after about 15 min and after I had asked where was I waiter to take our drink orders.
I wanted to take my mom out for an enjoyable dinner/evening and found this place on the web when looking up Jazz Clubs. Upon arriving I realized that years before I had been to this place before, I must say I had a good time on that visit as well. So it was Tuesday evening & people were getting on stage and singing (karaoke night) and most of those sung very well...:). We had a good evening, food was great tho I felt we had to wait longer than needed considering there were very few people eating dinner at 7:00. I recommended this place to co-workers as I found out Wednesday night is the "jazz nite"
