Absolutely loved out editor Marco. We always request him when we go here.
Service outside is always a little slow but they have a nice outside area and the food is good.
We were seated right away. Service was good and the food was really good.
Have wanted to visit Half Day Brewery eversince they took over for the previous occupant, unfortunately our visit was nothing special. Made our reservation via Open Table with a patio seating request. Upon arrival the hostess informed us that they don’t accommodate patio requests via Open Table. Not sure what the point of using Open Table if requests can not be honored. We relocated to the bar area until an outside table opened up. Immediately we were informed of a new policy that the use of a credit card will result in a 4 per cent surcharge. This was a major turn off for both of us, we always pay with credit cards and usually don’t carry much cash. The acceptance of credit cards and associated costs are a part of doing business. Many businesses are going the opposite way and not accepting cash. At least we were informed prior to ordering. Once we got out outside table we found the area open and relaxing with nice spacing. The service was slow and spotty and food sounded good but did not result in anything special. The food and beverage prices were acceptable but given everything else we probably won’t be back. Rethink that credit card surcharge.
We were shocked to see an added fee for using our charge card! We were not told ahead of time, although the manager said there was a sign somewhere in the entrance area that all four of us missed.
We will not return nor will we recommend this place. The added fee is quite outrageous. There are too many restaurants around without this cheap shot.
There was no upfront disclosure that they are now charging an extra 4% for using a credit or debit card. Only found out about the extra charge when we paid with a credit card.
Fantastic as always. Love the patio.
First time to venue since opening. Wide variety of brews. Pleasant outdoor seating except for smokers nearby. Not sure what Lincolnshire code is on smoking at/near restaurants. Left sooner than planned due to smoke. Also was surprised by what our server called a recent 4% charge automatically added to bill when paying by credit card. This had not been disclosed or posted anywhere prior to receiving bill at end of meal. Not sure if this is a trend. If so, really think establishment needs to apprise patrons before being presented with bill.
Not the best food for the price.
Food and beer are good. Great patio option. Service was good.
All the menu items are "as advertised" ... no bad surprises
Food was poor bat food, over cooked burger, lame salad
I really enjoyed the Craft brew list that were home made as well as a great list of local Breweries. Great choice of food items including Burgers, salads and appetizers. The wings are one of the best in the area! Great for families as well as get togethers with friends! Also I had excellent service from Brian.
It was very crowded at lunch time as the weather was good. I think this restaurant needs more staff during Summer lunch time.
We had been there last year and our meals had been pretty good. The four of us all had different items and no one's food was good. Don't know what's going on there, but they won't be around long if they don't fix it.
Curtis our waiter was very good!! However the burgers were bland, no flavor at all, the bun was toasted so much we had to peal off the hard parts. It's almost like the cook tried to over toast the bun because it wasn't fresh - we all know that trick.
The menu is not creative, need a bit more choices. This is our third time at Half Day Brewing Company. The first time was when it was newly opened and they were going thru growing pains, very slow service, but we gave it a second chance and the 2nd time we ate outside and it was like there were no servers outside at all, we had theatre tickets and it was unnerving how hard it was to get served. This was our third and final visit - albeit Curtis is great at what he does, he can't help that the food is just subpar. This was a great place as Flatlanders, but unfortunately we can't give Half Day another try.
Food was mediocre at best. Service was slow.
The place was over crowded and loud. Also the bathrooms were disgusting
Bartender is so attentive and hsa good memory what we normally order.
Didn't see our waitress much. Took our order but didn't deliver the food or come back to see how things were. Had to track her down to order dessert and get our check. Tacos my husband and I ordered had very little meat in them. Won't order those again.
The food was good. Our waitress was not attentive and seemed annoyed to be working on St. Patrick’s Day. We normally have great service in the bar area when we go for lunch
We decided to try the Half Day Brewing Company for a friends' get together on a Saturday evening. The waiter was very knowledgeable about the beers and the menu and he had some great suggestions! The food was amazing, especially the lamb burger. The chocolate martinis were also amazing!
second visit and the mac n cheese was mac soup. totally gross and my lunch mates burger was barely warm. too inconsistent to want to got back. waiter didnt even care.
Server had no personality and could care less about the customer.
Came for lunch around noon on a weekday, not many people there, food was great, service was excellent.
It was an enjoyable evening with friends.
Beer good. Service excellent! Food was ok, not great. Sweet potato fries were good, Ruben and wings ok, flat bread pizza... inedible. The crust was crispy but everything on top had non/discript flavor.
Everyone in the group enjoyed their meal.
For the beer lover, their beers are outstanding. The food is very good with a different twist. Not just a standard Burger!
The lentil soup was delicious but the bbq chicken salad with the ranch had too much chicken oddly enough and the ranch paired with it was too buttermilky. My husband enjoyed his gumbo but the chicken tacos were unders-easoned.
Great place for my group of friends to get together on a Friday night after work. We were not rushed and our waiter was absolutely wonderful and let us take our time to order and just sit and enjoy the evening.
Good lighting, music was fine. TV’s in dining room a plus. Menu choices are great. New items on the menu. Burgers are fantastic, one of the best things on the menu. Server was great, dropped back to check on us several times. Will definitely come back soon.
Good choice of beers makes a change from the usual American rubbish! Definitely recommend it!
Extensive beer menu; good food; spotty dishes, glasses and flatware
My favorite place in the area—excellent beer (Half Day Brewing beer is solid, impressive large selection of guest beers), very good food (burger, sandwich, pizza, wings, salad, etc), TVs all over (lots in bar area, some in separate dinning area). Best value around.
Very good food, beer and service. Had the jalapeño poppers, big and good. Had a bacon and cheeseburger, excellent.
Met some of Half Day's brewers at a brew festival up north and thought the beers were note worthy, particularly there Porter's. With that being said, and after checking out online reviews of the restaurant food and menu, we had a family get together with family members in from Colorado. I wanted to show the Coloradan's that Chicago has some great brew's as well and Half Day delivered! Beautiful building with a great atmosphere. Wood fired pizza was fantastic and our server for the evening was very personable and had a happy disposition unlike the brewery's bartender behind the bar that evening (attractive but seemingly had an attitude). Overall, I would highly recommend an evening out to Half Day. We are an hour away from there Lincolnshire location but would make the trip out again. Cheers Half Day!
Food was OK, service was not.
My wife & I tried the restaurant for the 1st time last Friday night around 6:30PM. The bar was fairly crowded but not the restaurant. Only about ⅓ of the tables were filled.
We were seated immediately but it was a good 5+ minutes until our waitress greeted us. This being a Brew Pub I decided to try one of their house beers. I asked for a recommendation based on my usual widely available brew. The waitress was unable to make a recommendation and seemed to not be very knowledgeable about the different beers. I picked one and enjoyed it.
It went downhill from there. I had to ask for silverware as there was only 1 set at the table of 4. We ordered an appetizer and it was plopped down unceremoniously on the table without a word from the server. Repeated requests for some lemon, nobody coming by during our meal to see if everything was ok, nobody coming by to refill our water glasses etc. After we had finished our dinner we sat there for 10+ minutes waiting for someone to come by to clear the dirty dishes and to ask for a box for the leftovers. We finally saw the host and asked him for a box and the check. Two minutes later the waitress showed up with the check only to have the host show up seconds later also with the check.
Poor service made an otherwise decent meal disappointing. Likely would not return.
Did not appreciate being seated by the kitchen when there was seating away from the kitchen. Otherwise server was great and attentive.
Came back again but the great waitress we had last time, Lori, wasn’t working unfortunately. We were seated and after 10 minutes had to ask who our server was. She started out with an attitude and ended with an attitude- never even introduced herself (her name is Shelley by the way). Too busy taking care of a big table right next to us to even acknowledge that she’d be with us shortly.
Food was mediocre-not much that isn’t fried for someone trying to be health-conscious in appetizers. Burgers are good but the waitress and the lack of service ruined the evening for us. Don’t know if it’s worth going back.
Talked to the manager & he wants us to write an email. Didn’t want to deal with it right then and there. Too busy dealing with all the business in the bar. Sad- we wanted to make this our before theater and neighborhood hang out. Half Day Brewing- Half The Service!
