Half Day Brewing Co.
Half Day Brewing Company Local. Inspired. Distinctive. Spirited
The food sounds good on the menu but continues to disappoint. Out of their best beer the Frozen Tundra which was disappointing. Service was very good and the crowd was lively.
We’re shocked they sat us. Every other time we went there for dinner they wouldn’t even seat us without having a reservation even though their dining area was empty. Food is average at best. We’ll only go there again if we’re desperate. We only went there this time cause I was late getting a reservation at one of our favorite places.
First time there. Great food. We definitely would go back again. They had a race that day but still got a seat.
Food was not good. Service and ambiance is great. Need to rethink menu.
Very mixed results continue with Half Day Brewing. The food and service are inconsistent. Initially service was very slow at taking and serving drink orders. Service did improve as the evening went on. Had the jalapeño poppers which had no flavor at all should have sent them back. The Tito’s drink specials were good though. Our entree’s were mixed one good one not. The bar area was lively and loud but the remainder of the restaurant was dead. Maybe we will visit again in the summer to enjoy the nice outdoor area. Maybe.
Service was just ok considering there were only a few tables occupied. Regarding the food, it was simply just really mediocre bar food; bland and pre-made. BBQ chicken salad was wilted and tasteless, the lamb burgers were over-cooked.
On the bright side, their beers are quite good. Go for the beer.
Practically empty in the restaurant at 7pm on a Saturday night. Even with a reservation, hostess tried to seat us in the loud bar — so many empty tables in restaurant section. Very odd. Beer was cold and delicious. However my chicken breast sandwich was cold- almost as if it came from the fridge to my plate. We had to get our own silverware and napkins from another table as waitstaff disappeared. Yet when our server came to our table we couldn’t get rid of her. She’d just oddly and uncomfortably stand there either saying nothing or speaking so quietly that we couldn’t hear her. Overall entire experience was uncomfortable and not good.
The menu looks great but the food was just average
Our app came out and 5 minutes later our food arrived. Then our food order was wrong.
At first air temp was cold until we said something. Food came out cold and not all items were correct. When we got food we had to wait for utensils. First time there and will be last
Stood & waited 15 minutes to be seated for my reservation for 4 people as we saw 7 open booths & several tables open in the dining area. Spoke to another "host" & was told they were getting our table set up. The one we saw were all set up. Original host never returned to the greeting area. We had theater tickets and told host we were on a tight schedule. Once seated, our waitress supplied 2 menus for 4 people. We immediately informed her of our time schedule. She assured us it would not be a problem. I asked for the cole slaw to be served on the side and not on my sandwich. It arrived loaded on my sandwich. They offered to remake but because of our schedule, I opted to scrape the slaw off. One of our party spilled her glass of wine & rather than come to help, waitress asked if we need more napkins to sop up the spill. We had to ask for replacement napkins for each of us since that's what we used to clean up the table. No offer to replace wine or if diner wanted something else to drink. I requested separate checks which was no problem, but we had to flag our waitress over to get our bills even though we asked for them as we ordered . It was so loud in the place, we had a difficult time hearing each other talk . Not happy with this experience. Had been there before, but maybe not the place for pre-theater dinner for middle aged women who like to catch up on one another's lives.
Our overall experience was very good. Good food, but a little pricey. Our server, Ashley, was a gem. Fun, attentive, and accurate.
We ate at Halfday Brewing Co. both Saturday night and Sunday. Our Saturday meal was accurate but Sunday evening we were way overcharged. We thought the charges had been straightened out but upon further investigating the price on the menu I discovered we were still charged more than listed on the menu. We just gave up and paid the wrong price!
Food was great. Beer was not impressive. Wine list was limited.
Great dark beer selection
Service is slow when there are events/groups. Food quantity is good but quality/taste/value is fair.
Would have been better if the food was hot. Had the steak with cheese potatoes & Brussels sprouts. Everything was luke warm. My friend had the Truffle burger bowl & sweat potato fries. The burger & fries were cold. It could have been a good meal, if it was hot.
Our bartender is always so good!!
Fun vibe-the bar area was very vibrant! Food was good too!
Absolutely loved out editor Marco. We always request him when we go here.
Service outside is always a little slow but they have a nice outside area and the food is good.
We were seated right away. Service was good and the food was really good.
Have wanted to visit Half Day Brewery eversince they took over for the previous occupant, unfortunately our visit was nothing special. Made our reservation via Open Table with a patio seating request. Upon arrival the hostess informed us that they don’t accommodate patio requests via Open Table. Not sure what the point of using Open Table if requests can not be honored. We relocated to the bar area until an outside table opened up. Immediately we were informed of a new policy that the use of a credit card will result in a 4 per cent surcharge. This was a major turn off for both of us, we always pay with credit cards and usually don’t carry much cash. The acceptance of credit cards and associated costs are a part of doing business. Many businesses are going the opposite way and not accepting cash. At least we were informed prior to ordering. Once we got out outside table we found the area open and relaxing with nice spacing. The service was slow and spotty and food sounded good but did not result in anything special. The food and beverage prices were acceptable but given everything else we probably won’t be back. Rethink that credit card surcharge.
We were shocked to see an added fee for using our charge card! We were not told ahead of time, although the manager said there was a sign somewhere in the entrance area that all four of us missed.
We will not return nor will we recommend this place. The added fee is quite outrageous. There are too many restaurants around without this cheap shot.
There was no upfront disclosure that they are now charging an extra 4% for using a credit or debit card. Only found out about the extra charge when we paid with a credit card.
Fantastic as always. Love the patio.
First time to venue since opening. Wide variety of brews. Pleasant outdoor seating except for smokers nearby. Not sure what Lincolnshire code is on smoking at/near restaurants. Left sooner than planned due to smoke. Also was surprised by what our server called a recent 4% charge automatically added to bill when paying by credit card. This had not been disclosed or posted anywhere prior to receiving bill at end of meal. Not sure if this is a trend. If so, really think establishment needs to apprise patrons before being presented with bill.
Not the best food for the price.
Food and beer are good. Great patio option. Service was good.
All the menu items are "as advertised" ... no bad surprises
Food was poor bat food, over cooked burger, lame salad
I really enjoyed the Craft brew list that were home made as well as a great list of local Breweries. Great choice of food items including Burgers, salads and appetizers. The wings are one of the best in the area! Great for families as well as get togethers with friends! Also I had excellent service from Brian.
It was very crowded at lunch time as the weather was good. I think this restaurant needs more staff during Summer lunch time.
We had been there last year and our meals had been pretty good. The four of us all had different items and no one's food was good. Don't know what's going on there, but they won't be around long if they don't fix it.
Curtis our waiter was very good!! However the burgers were bland, no flavor at all, the bun was toasted so much we had to peal off the hard parts. It's almost like the cook tried to over toast the bun because it wasn't fresh - we all know that trick.
The menu is not creative, need a bit more choices. This is our third time at Half Day Brewing Company. The first time was when it was newly opened and they were going thru growing pains, very slow service, but we gave it a second chance and the 2nd time we ate outside and it was like there were no servers outside at all, we had theatre tickets and it was unnerving how hard it was to get served. This was our third and final visit - albeit Curtis is great at what he does, he can't help that the food is just subpar. This was a great place as Flatlanders, but unfortunately we can't give Half Day another try.
Food was mediocre at best. Service was slow.
The place was over crowded and loud. Also the bathrooms were disgusting
Bartender is so attentive and hsa good memory what we normally order.
Didn't see our waitress much. Took our order but didn't deliver the food or come back to see how things were. Had to track her down to order dessert and get our check. Tacos my husband and I ordered had very little meat in them. Won't order those again.
The food was good. Our waitress was not attentive and seemed annoyed to be working on St. Patrick’s Day. We normally have great service in the bar area when we go for lunch
