About

This restaurant is permanently closed. Haldi presents Indian regional cuisine featuring kababs, biryanis, and Indo-Chinese preparations with the emphasis being on fresh and satisfying meals. Cuisine from Calcutta is also showcased in the menu alongside perennial Indian favorites.

The 60-seat restaurant has decor that is playfully themed after the restaurant's namesake-- the Indian spice turmeric or haldi. Mustard yellow walls and whimsical murals depicting Old World Calcutta serve as a perfect backdrop to the traditional dishes served with a contemporary spin.

Food was outstanding - but we felt like we were in a cafeteria.

The small plate of cauliflower was excellent as was the chicken tandoori. If you like Indian food you should most definetly try them out.

My wife and I loved Haldi ! Such a great lunch. We opted for the $11.95 unlimited, and there was no shortage of great Indian food! One of those places we walked away wishing something in our city had. Inexpensive, fast, GREAT food, personable waiter....etc. Will definitely go again when in NYC.

Delicious out-of-the-ordinary Indian fare from chef Hemant Manthur. Excellent, efficient service and lovely, fun decor . Varied menu. Wonderful lamb chops, cauliflower and okra. Great experience worth repeat visits for lunch and dinner.

Very sold and thoughtful meal, with some really interesting Indian/Asian fusion, while remaining authentically Indian in character

We had gone in with high hopes for Haldi, but were disappointed to find that they had changed the menu. They had gotten rid off most of the Kolkata speciality dishes and were just back to the same North Indian typical dishes. Guess it takes a lot of guts to stand out from the herd.

Upon hearing that we wanted luchi, they did serve us some, but the luchis were not how they are supposed to be. The Aloo dum was good, although curry leaves are a no-no in Aloo dum. The dak bungalow chicken and Kosha mangsho were quite okay.

The waiter was over insistent, although we were a big group and kept ordering stuff. The restaurant was empty except for us. They had some cocktails with interesting names, but none of the drinks stood out. The dessert was equally forgettable. I appreciate Haldi's hospitality but I don't think I am going back any time soon.

Food was fine but expensive for what it was - $25 Defoe chicken tikka masala with rice and naan is a bit steep.

Decent food but very expensive for what you get--the shrimp curry dish for $19 came with 5 small shrimp. Rice is also extra. The food is definitely a cut above most Curry Hill establishments but you pay the extra price.
