I've eaten here before when it was not restaurant week and had a lovely time, so I decided to return for queens feast. I was not disappointed! Each dish was thoughtfully prepared, portions the right size, and not an overload of salt. The goat cheese cheesecake was the best thing. You also can't beat the ambiance. Our server was great as well. I didn't catch her name, but tall and blond.
The brunch was delicious. I had a faro and kale salad with shrimp that was super fresh and was wonderful. The husband had biscuits and gravy which while delicious was so bare on the plate it looked forlorn. Not a shred of garnish or color. Just white biscuits with white gravy in on white plate. Felt very lacking in presentation.
My date and I took advantage of Charlotte's Restaurant week. Although our table was not ready when we arrived for our reservation, we were treated very generously during our visit. The food was amazing and it was a wonderful dining experience!
Wonderful date night restaurant. Fun Queen Feast menu. Staff was helpful and friendly. Food was plentiful and delicious. The shrimp and grits was something I will go back for.
Great food during restaurant week and Bechtler visit. The oysters were superb, with mango and tomatoes. I’m glad the fried oysters are a regular item on their menu!
Service wasn’t great. Server wasn’t very interested in working that day and came off as unhappy. Food took forever to come out.
Always a great experience.
Great restaurant. Atmosphere and ambience were wonderful. Mary S our server was ssd's superb. Very helpful with some requests we had. Very nice to speak with. Charcuterie was excellent. Mustard was good with a kick. A little went a long way. Shrimp and sausage was excellent. Lots of different tastes. Wife enjoyed her salad with blackened shrimp.
Very nice restaurant. Casual but kicked up a bit for special occassions.
We were celebrating my sister becoming a US citizen. We had a great evening with excellent food, wine and service.
Overall good experience. Great staff, good food, nice ambiance -a bit pricey. Certainly worth trying!
Made reservations for New Years Eve for 4 people at 8:45 PM. When we arrived no tables were available and we were told that people were lingering and we would have a wait for a table. We waited and no tables came available for about 45 minutes. Other people were coming in with reservations and were given the same story. We observed no one leaving so either there was a lot of "lingering" or the restaurant overbooked!! We finally were given a table for 6 next to the door (opening and closing on a cold night). For our inconvenience the restaurant graciously didn't charge us for the 2 orders of really thin slices of French bread (5 slices per order) brought to the table!!! The food and service were ok. We've all been here before and have had good experiences, but NYE welcoming in 2020 wasn't one of them!
The atmosphere and ambiance were the right blend of welcoming/fun and private/intimate. Our server was attentive, yet not overbearing - just right. The food was well-prepared, with just the right amount/type of seasonings. BUT - since it's a farm-to-table restaurant, you're somewhat at the mercy of what's available at the moment. For example, my entree consisted of several ingredients, all listed on the menu, except one. The menu didn't mention broccoli, but broccoli was truly the primary ingredient in my entree. I hate broccoli. The waiter kindly allowed me to remove all the broccoli from my plate onto a small plate, and he took that away. But that's really a poor solution. So - Halcyon is a good place, but ask a lot of questions.
Nice dinner for New Year’s Eve
The food was very good but not great. They made a vegan dish for my wife and daughter which was good but they had prepared a fantastic one before. This was not as good. The broccoli side dish was just fair. Great corn bread and dessert of dark chocolate bread pudding.
We love Halcyon for date night, for an anniversary, for ringing in the New Year. We're always very pleased when we go. The food is fresh and the service is wonderful!
Always awesome and our wait staff, Anne, was very attentive.
Excellent food and service!
Great lunch before going to Knight’s theatre. Everything was wonderful!
Really good cheeses and charcuterie plates, great red grouper special, up beat and warm atmosphere. It inexpensive but a reasonable value, especially for Uptown CLT.
Food was outstanding, which is a bold statement from us. Our service couldn't have been better!
Wine was vinegar. Portions were too small.
The menu on open table is incorrect. Food was good but MUCH more limited menu. Great drinks and loved the ambiance. On the pricey side.
They had changed up their menu which was awesome to have new selection. I got this delicious shrimp wrap and my partner go this delicious fried fish sandwich. They always have great options!
Once was one of our favorite places to eat. The menu changes are not what we enjoy. No complaints of giant negatives just not a menu that we find exciting.
Great service! Waitress was funny, attentive and informative. The food was amazing and the cocktails were unique and tasty. Portion size could have been larger given price point but overall a fun experience!
What a treat it is to dine at Halcyon. Good food, beverages, desserts and knowledgeable and efficient servers. Thanks a bunch for a lovely evening!
Halcyon is beautiful...food, atmosphere, service...a treat is ever you are in downtown Charlotte.
Food was outstanding. I had short ribs and wife had lamb, both cooked to perfection. Veggies also done just right. Wine list is good, not great. Service was very attentive and friendly.
Seasonal specialties that are tailored to individual needs are combined with attentive service and a lovely intimate setting Our fave uptown!
We made a reservation in advance and were greeted with the table closest to the bathrooms. I felt like we were "fit in". The server was okay - she didn't seem to have been doing this very long and needs some training. Overall, not the special evening I had planned. I would not try this restaurant again for anything other than a drink before a show. There are too many other restaurants in the area that have great service and make you feel special for your advance consideration in making a reservation. Overall, we were not impressed.
I wasn't really wanting to pay 25 for a lunch plate. I decided it was the healthier way to go so I went for it. Oh my gosh, it was so delicious. It was a fish similar to Flounder but the flavor with the veggies and spices was absolutely wonderful I ate every single bite.
Went to Halcyon before a theater show. Food took a long time to come out and server was a bit arrogant. 6pm reservation and just made the show (across the street) while house lights were blinking (show about to start). Server was told about theater tickets up front but there was no accommodation for it. Service was very slow, even with a small number of tables being occupied.
Great food and wonderful service by Anne. Can't wait to go back and have the Chocolate Mousse/Parfait again!
I chose ‘no’ because I think there are other, better options to spend way too much money on. Food was okay. Soup was lukewarm. Bread app was good. My entree (chicken with curry) was good. My wife’s entree of scallops was way over seasoned. Glad we went to experience it but given the cost and options in Charlotte, I’m not sure that we’d go back.
We miss the previous chef's menu offering of a charcuterie combining cheese and meat selections. Now you must choose all one or the other.
Amamzing!!! Craft cocktails, awesome apps, all delish! Our server Allison was helpful with the menu and about downtown Charlotte advice and recommendations.
She knew the menu and has food intuition.
Great! I only hope to return and explore more of what they have to offer
Excellent and knowledgeable service from Scott. Rack of lamb very good and ceviche was great.
Always wondered after Bechtler Jazz
Located off a balcony at the Mint Museum in Charlotte, overlooking Tryon Street and the park at St. Peter's Church, this is a simple (hard-surfaced) restaurant, kind of plain inside (but OK) and a lovely balcony on which to dine and/or drink. But the "star" here is the food - simple, a modest menu, but packed with flavor. We had Gulf Shrimp Toast (basically shrimp salad on rounds of French bread) but lots of shrimp, tarragon and mayo flavor. Simple but wonderful. I love scallops and Pan Seared Scallops were VERY nice over sautéed corn and leeks, roasted pepper cake and a uni sauce (whatever that is). My wife had Heirloom Tomato Gazpacho - we've all had that, right? This was special: just full of unusual flavor and a bit of "heat". And then she had a Corn and Bacon Salad with bacon and a mustard vinaigrette which was a perfect summer dish, even in October. A solid gin martini was much appreciated as was wine on the balcony after dinner. The only small disappointment was that the bar is not a very welcoming place to drink, especially as it faces a wall and not the room or the view. But this is a VERY good restaurant with simple food VERY well executed.
