This was our second time eating at Mariposa and both times we really enjoyed our dinner there. The service was excellent and the food was delicious, with some great menu items both times. The duck arepas and Moroccan pie were excellent. We’d definitely recommend Mariposa and will be back next time we’re in Charlotte.

This restaurant was phenomenal, probably the best restaurant I’ve been to in Charlotte in years. Food and service were amazing. Menu was amazing. The halibut large plate dish and the octopus small plate are both dishes that I will be thinking about and craving for the rest of my life. The holiday themed cocktail menu were so balanced and overall served beautifully. Highly highly recommend and will most definitely be back!

I used to love this place. The food this time was barely edible. The beef was so tough and had strangely gooey fat on it. The chicken also had clumps of fat throughout and was dry. Twice someone from wait staff and once a manager came by to ask how it was and I kindly just said “ehh it’s just ok” and each time they just ok great! And walked away or something of this variation. Will not be returning.

Cool room in central part of downtown (called Uptown in CLT...who knows why…). Combination of couch and table seating of which I am not a fan..left us at different heights, and it’s tough to eat a nice dinner from a couch imho. We made it work. Really cool (if small) menu that's a combination of small and large plates. Apparently varies regularly influenced by the owner' travels and culinary experiences. PHENOMENAL server. Truly exceptional. Great cocktail, menu, and wine recommendations with warm, professional approach that absolutely enhanced the meal. Opened with the duck arepas which were unique and nearly life changing. The wagyu beef nigiri was interesting and different, and the paella delicious. That was plenty for two of us. Desserts were only ok...but the food was fabulous and interesting. Only four stars because of the seating and because, to our disappointment, two items we asked for came back with a message from the kitchen that they were sold out...for a 7 pm reservation on what didn’t look to be a busy night. One was the Moroccan pie that we had actually PREORDERED at our awesome server’s suggestion because there was only one left...and was nonetheless sold to the next table out from under us. What?! Not ok. The other was an endive salad, one of only two salads on the menu. We would have hoped that in a high end restaurant the kitchen would have let the server know before they ask for the order. Stuff happens...but the restaurant did nothing to make up for it though beyond a polite apology. (Buy us a drink? Comp dessert?) At this pretty aggressive price point, I'd have expected some gesture to make up for their error. Er, errorS. Would totally be back nonetheless.

Favorite spot in Uptown! Menu always changes but never disappoints. Although, sad to see mushroom toast off the menu - my favorite!

The food & cocktails were amazing, but the real star of the show was our server Carlos. He was attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, had a great sense of humor, and got us out the door on time as promised so that we made our show with plenty of time ☺️
