Halcyon, Flavors from the Earth
The menu at Halcyon, Flavors from the Earth can be hard to predict, but locals have frequently enjoyed mushroom tarts, bleu cheese souffle's, shrimp and octopus entrees, duck egg ravioli and more. From venison and rabbit to sole and brussels sprout entrees, there is plenty for everyone to love on the Halcyon, Flavors from the Earth menu. Located on the avenue of Levine Arts in the heart of Uptown Charlotte.
Love this place. Mary was our server. She was great. The food was delicious as always.
A truly excellent dinner. The food was very fresh-tasting. The service was impeccable with it being friendly and helpful and attentive without being too attentive. impeccable. The servers and chef were very flexible and creating a dish not on the menu for a person who had many dietary restrictions. A truly enjoyable meal.
Food and experience were great but the waitress was very rude only because we asked where the drinks were.
Delicious fresh food. Waitstaff on top of things. Wonderful experience.
My husband, granddaughter and I had a lovely lunch at Halcyon on July 11th. Our meals were delicious, our service very good and our experience excellent !
Always an interesting menu with selections based on seasonal and local availability.
Kale farro salad was excellent!
While it was very expensive it was delicious! Our waitress Ann knew the menu very well and we were well taken care of by her. We sat outside with the Charlotte uptown view which was nice. I would have enjoyed some music so I used my phone for a little background ambience. I would recommend this restaurant as a special occasion once a year kind of restaurant because of the prices. I was filled by my $34 plate of scallops but not uncomfortably. The portions were perfect.
Seasonal fresh fresh fresh foods with amazing flavors. Never disappoints, always impresses, in a lovely setting with perfect service. The best in Charlotte.
Beautiful Sunday brunch. Delightful service.
We had a four hour layover in Charlotte airport. We took an Uber to the restaurant. It was really wonderful. I had a great cheeseburger and a glass of wine. I would definitely recommend this place.
Great selection of cheeses, scallops were awesome. Menu is small so choices are limited. A great experience overall.
Absolutely loved this place!!! Amazing food and service.
Great service. Food was good but not great. Had requested a "quiet" table but they do not have any.
One of my favorite spots. Great fresh food with some great views! Recommend bison (rotates on/off the menu), the burger, salmon cakes, duke, and any current kale side (always different and full of flavor).
i come everytime i am in Charlotte. one of my favorites
Outstanding food and service!
Nothing was bad, nothing was outstanding. Menu was pretty limited - 4 entrees. I had heard about this place for years and never tried it so when we had a concert at the Knight Theatre it was a perfect time to try it out.
Dining here, we were disappointed to find out the pork belly blt had changed, leaving much to be desired. The signature fried green tomatoes were missing, and the sandwich was subpar because of it. Additionally the shrimp wrap had only three shrimp on the entire thing. The redeeming quality of the experience was the very attentive and friendly staff, and gorgeous weather enjoyed in the outdoor space.
Best service I’ve ever had. It’s hard to find good service in Charlotte. This was top notch. We had 4 people waiting on us hand and foot
Food tasted fantastic! Service was prompt and friendly. Food portion was smaller than I expected. I would order a starter in addition to the main next time in order to feel full.
Our server was amazing! And the food delicious. Always creative
Girls night out dinner. Great dinner and fabulous service. Everything was delicious and beautifully plated. Felt it was a bit overpriced.
We have dined at Halcyon on several occasions previously and found it ok, but not great. Recently on a Charlotte Symphony night we took guests there for a 5:45 dinner. We arrived on time, ordered promptly, and explained that we would need to depart at 7:10 p.m. We had to ask for bread after wine was served. Our first course arrived reasonably quickly. But then the wait for dinner began. After several prompts, dinner finally arrived at 6:50, following a one hour wait--and leaving us 20 minutes to dash through the meal. Worse, the food was just terrible. I had two small courses, both of which arrived in a deep pool of gooey gravy, with the meat resting on the same soggy crust of bread or fried polenta--impassible to tell what the substance was. The waitress took some items off our bill, given the intolerable wait, and made some excuses about being short staffed in the kitchen. That did not solve the problem, and we will not return there, ever. Do not recommend.
Everything was amazing! Mel was exceptional as a server. Attentive but not “hovering”. She pointed a few key items on the menu, but didn’t push.
The food was incredible. Small plates favorites: seared scallops with pork belly and a unique aoli. And, much to my surprise, the foie gras was a show stopper! With Pomegranate caramel reduction...so good,... we dipped our house made baguette into it after finishing the dish.
Glad we came, we will definitely be back!
Once again, we trully enjoyed our meal. I sometimes get concerned about the relatively small menu, but have never been disappointed by my selection.
Terrace was nice, service was excellent but prices were exaggerated in comparison to portions.
Dined at Halcyon for Mother’s Day. The farm fresh ingredients make every bite a new taste discovery. The server and chef accommodated a special request for vegetarian Benedict, which was delicious. We also had the kale and farrow salad. It’s an added bonus to get a discount with our Mint Museum membership. We will definitely return!
Ordered the Egg Benedict. Not my favorite. It came with one egg and two very think slices of Ham. It was plentiful yet no flavor in the Hollandaise Sauce. It was a big let down.
As usual, this place is outstanding. We simply went in and had "small plates", pork belly, Foie Gras, Short Ribs....bottle of Chard.
Sad to say but this was a bit disappointing. Admittedly I have not been to Halcyon in a while and we caught them between lunch and dinner services, but my family and I were underwhelmed with this visit.
We ordered a number of small plates and a couple types of salad along with desserts. The food was ok, but I have been there in the fall when the menu is different and the flavors were better complements.
But that’s the problem. With The Fig Tree nearby and their menu, wine list, and reputation, you can’t afford to have an underwhelming dining experience.
But unfortunately, this time we did.
We went when there was a festival going on so it was pretty loud outside but the food and service were great. I highly recommend the blue cheese soufflé and the scallops.
Everything is fantastic here, I rated just 1 Star less about the food because my Chicken Piccata was really not very good. My four table mates had fabulous meals though, the min courses are generous, salads are amazing and started cheese and acoutriment Board was also outstanding. The sirloin was absolutely amazing.
We came to Charlotte for the Jazz Festival and ate here before our 7:30 show at the Knight Theatre next door. The 6:15 reservation time was perfect as was everything else about our time spent at this restaurant. Highly recommend
Delicious small plates menu, outdoor dining, good service, a lovely place for a warm evening's dinner and cocktails.
The service was very good and the restaurant was very comfortable and pleasant. The cocktails were ok, though the Fire and Ice beverage is more a novelty than anything. The wine list was solid, though the pours were a bit lighter than other restaurants. The charcuterie is exceptional. It’s worth going just for that. I had the beef loin dish and it was cooked perfectly, but was incredibly tough. I would recommend some heavy aging. The deserts are appropriately sized and quite tasty.
Did small plates and the food was excellent. Got great and fun service from Connor. Would go back any time.
Great place to entertain clients.
We sat outside on the patio. It was a lovely night and the view was awesome! All our dishes were outstanding and the service was good. Highly recommended.
