Halcyon Brasserie Ratings and Reviews
Nice neighborhood spot, food was okay, filet mignon was over cooked, sea scallops were fresh and cooked well as was the grilled octopus. Service was okay. Overall a very clean, well maintained facility, nice bar area and lounge, the table area is small and tight and the noise level is very high, not a place for a quiet dinner and conversation.
The food was well prepared and fresh, but we left feeling sort of gouged after ordering a couple oysters and two drinks each--definitely just need to be prepared to spend a lot of money if you are going to order drinks and apps or dessert in addition to your meal.
Monday night was not our first time at Halcyon, but it was memorable. When we walked in (meeting another couple) fire trucks and firemen were present and the alarm was going off. Other patrons waited outside, but we were meeting friends and it was freezing so we ventured to the bar. Our drinks were awesome (old fashions)and the bartender couldn't have been nicer although the entire staff had been subjected to this intermittent blasting for over an hour. When our friends arrived we could not find another place open on a Monday night locally and we decided to stick it out. Everyone got fish and salads, one was better than the other. The swordfish with the butter sauce and beat salad were both sublime. The staff apologized all evening. Finally the alarms were ceased. They gave us 15% off our bill and some cocktails on the house. We definitely will be back. They handled a very uncomfortable situation with grace.
