Hakkasan - Shanghai
Hakkasan takes its guests through a vivid ‘Chinois Chic’ encounter that indulges all five sense. The menu, devised by Michelin-starred chef Tong Chee Hwee, has a strong Chinese identity which is underpinned by authenticity rather than traditionalism and includes signature dishes such as cod with Champagne and Chinese honey, crispy duck salad and jasmine tea smoked Wagyu tenderloin.
Hakkasan Shanghai is open for dinner every night and Hakka Bund Weekend brunches on Saturday and Sunday.
Amazing as usual .
Favorite place in Shanghai
The food and the service was really satisfying, but it was littlebit noisy.
We came with high expectations. Unfortunately they were not fulfilled. The food is okay but that's just it. And for what you pay it's not enough. I pay this price anytime if the food is worth it. It's not. Service is nice though, and the drinks to.
Not sure if I will recommend this to a friend. The person I went with was happy about everything. But the waitress who served us for ordering dishes care much more about my foreigner friend than me. I told her I don't like mushroom in the dishes, but she said your friend likes it and kept recommending dishes with mushroom. She only asked my friend if he wanted sparkling or stilled water rather than asking us both (because it is a whole bootle, we need to share). And she just put the water in my glass without asking.
Service in Shanghai really needs some improvements. Really has some attitude problems. As a long term Mlife member, tried every Hakkasan restaurant globally but I won’t come back to the Shanghai one. It really sets off the standard.
Food and Wind was absolutely outstanding. Service was fantastic the staff were so good. I highly recommend dining at Hakkasan
Nice enviroment, very good location and high level of quality food.
Foods were good except blue crab which was expensive but nothing much to eat despite all the trouble
to eat it. Most others were delicious and reasonably priced. Service was quick and attentive.
Awesome ambience with night view of The Bund. Signature Peking duck with imperial caviar is definitely a must-try! Service rendered by the staff was great. Regular checking on us to make sure our needs are met. Definitely will come back when I travel to Shanghai again. :)
Awesome restaurant with exquisite food. Service impecable. Probably one of the best restaurants in Shanghai value/experience
Second time here and food as good as last time. Great service and everything was delicious!
Nice food, attentive staff, but way too overpriced. Shanghai has many other locations to offer, that after a good meal won‘t make you regret once you get the invoice. 10% service charge is automatically added and always choose paying in RMB as Hakkasan exchange rate grants them additional 10% profit, which I found out too late. All in all, nice but there are other venues which also offer the bund experience with a more rational pricing e.g. el willy, Napa, etc....good to wow Shanghai first-timers, but that‘s it.
Fantastic location and even better food! This is a must try location for anyone looking to try elevated Cantonese food in Shanghai.
Incredibile place in Shanghai, I absolutely reccomend it to everyone! Thank you for the special surprise!
We just love Hakkasan Shanghai - location, Ambiente, service, cuisine, just everything. Started with Bejing Duck, then crispy Duck salad, the potato chips with fried duck, the vegetarian Dim Sum, angus beef in black pepper ( oh my god, soooo tender!), chicken with fois Gras ( new and yummie), the homemade tofu in clay pot ( best tofu), cod in champagne and honey ( perfect balance of tastes)!!!
The drinks and desserts - the new chocolate peanut is very nice, but I miss the chocolate dessert with oranges. The egg nest was soo good! And lemon pot as always - we’ll be back soon..
Food was excellent but the cocktails were average at best. Service was impeccable- kudos to the team. The atmosphere and vibe was good. Would definitely return.
We had a lovely dinner with friends. Food was excellent and the sommelier recommended a very good Austrian wine. Lovely views of the bund and nice music
When you are in Shanghai and would like to enjoy good food at a splendid location: Hakkasan! Quite expensive but worth it. Everytime I am in Shanghai I'll visit Hakkasan
Perfect! Good atmosphere and food
Excellent food and service. Dessert was pure heaven.
You cannot beat the view at this restaurant, the food was good but the view and ambiance are really what you pay for and it's worth it!
good ambience and great food - slightly on the expensive side.
Nice place. Great food. Good service
And i love the signature cocktails especially the Zong Zi Cha one <3
Very disapointed by this last visit. Food nothing special any more compared to before
Great experience, everything just perfect looking forward to be there again
Reservation and seat:
I made a reservation two weeks before visit Shanghai. Asked for bund view, for god’s sake. Our table looked like to be set up temporarily, in the middle of the tables. The waitress kept crashing to my seat, which was not in the right spot. Obviously they didn’t think through the moving path. Furthermore, I couldn’t see “the tower”, because it is blocked by hideous pillar indoor. What a great place to celebrate birthday!
Food: Taste was not special. Luxurious dimsum was made of special ingredients, such as lobster, scallop, caviar, etc. But it only taste ok. Not worth the price. Nothing to remember. Totally overpriced.
Drinks: Few cocktails are nice, with traditional & authentic jar.
Overall, they didn’t care what customer really wants, just want to make a reservation as much as possible, at the peak.
I had seen great reviews from Korean blogs, which was posted in 2017. Ever since 2018, no one has great experience as they expected. I better serve me with instand noodles and rice in the airport lounge.
Definitely a nice place with a nice view from the balcony.
Nice atmosphere and decoration. Food is good but extremely overpriced and the service - despite their best efforts - is just not up to the price positioning.
Our food arrived before our cocktails... Should simply not happen at this level. They did not charge us for it, so they know how to handle mistakes but still...
Foodwise, it's fusion and Chinese food is mostly Chaozhou.
It's a good place for business dinners, family dinners or dates.
Over the three years it has taken for me to get into Hakkasan it has slipped down in the “best of Shanghai” ratings but I really wanted to go and see if it was worth the hype (especially given the TripAdvisor 2018 award) . I finally made it to discover that…it wasn’t.
Was the food good? Yes. Was the service excellent? Yes. Was everything indefeasibly expensive? Yes. But does that make this place one of the best? No, absolutely not. Unfortunately. And I really wanted to like it as well.
Last year I went to Yue 1525 and spent an excessive amount on lunch and got an excessive amount of exceptional food, including some dishes that were surreal. Last night Hakkasan simply did not compare in terms of quality and just felt really, really expensive for what I ate. And it cost nearly twice as much.
I tried the Taste of Hakkasan menu, a signature cocktail (the Hakka – about the same price as a bottle of water, and tastes similar), and a Jasmine tea. 425RMB. Wow. The Dim sum platter was delicious, with good guidance as to the order to eat them. The spicy prawn main course contained 4 prawns in a thin, light coconut broth. OK. Couldn’t discern the lily bulb but there were a few sliced almonds on the top. The pak choi was nice but I am not a vegetarian and that dish was bigger than the prawns. And the rice was, well, rice, in a bit of a lump on the plate as though it had been microwaved.
You could say I did not see the place at its best – a 5:30pm sitting and a pre-set menu, rather than a later meal a la carte. But an eponymous signature set meal really should delight and exceed expectations, wanting the diner to come back for more. And on this basis, I would never go again: the only exceptional thing about this meal (apart from the attentive service) was the price tag. Expensive does not mean the meal feels great - this meal just feels a bit like a rip off.
Too expensive for Chinese Food. Needs to fins a way to make things more affordable
It is great place in shanghai. Music is really good but it is little bit big.
We thoroughly enjoyed our night! I only wish that I had written down the names of our 2 amazing servers!! They absolutely made our whole experience so fun and relaxing and truly perfect!!!
Good food with good level of service. Service could be a little bit more personalized. Felt a little robotic, but still good.
Was not wowed! Had high hopes. Great view fantastic cocktails.
Food was delicious although the pork belly came out cold. Service very cold and disingenuous. We are both foodies and travel frequently wouldn’t be returning preferred lost heaven. Wine list ridiculously expensive.
Nice ambiance, excellent service. Food was not extraordinary, certainly not for the price. The appetizer and dessert were pretty delightful, but the mains were disapointing. The reason I wouldn't recommend it is that there is certainly better gastronomic experiences for the same price.
Fantastic food, service and overall experience as usual from Hakkasan Shanghai! Thank you again!!
Thanks so much for making our 4 year wedding anniversary extra special! The food and cocktails were fantastic. But the best part was the absolutely lovely staff.
For a Michelin star restaurant, portions were really decent for the price you pay. Plus, service was excellent! We actually over ordered and our waiter was good in guiding us to the right amount suitable for 2 of us. Peking duck with caviar and roast duck with black truffle is a must to order.
Amazing restaurant! The service is excellent and the food is to die for! Many excellent options for vegetarians (compared to the usual Chinese restaurant)
Best restaurant in Shanghai with an amazing view on the skyline. Hakkasan is always a guarantee
Tolles Restaurant! Immer wieder gerne! Preise sind happig aber sie sind es wert! Toller Service und geniales Essen!!! Wenn man sich und seiner Frau/Freunden was gönnen will, muss man hier gewesen sein! Freue mich auf das nächste mal
