Not as nice as the other locations I've been to. Food was mediocre and ambiance looked like a nice (but not upscale) Chinese restaurant for families.

Appearance was excellent! Scallop Shu Mai was very flexible juicy, and flavorful. Duck was very crispy and meat was moist and tender. A very good place to impress your date.

Dining in Hakkasan was a curious experience. Wife and I arrived at about 5:15 PM for a 6 PM Saturday reservation. There were three people behind the reception desk, all talking to each other and never glancing at us standing just in front of them for at least 3-4 minutes, when, finally, one woman looked at us and said, “Can I help you?” This was odd, since we were obviously arriving customers. This is a rather large restaurant with a long bar in the middle, and tables on both sides of the bar area. We also noticed that there was at least one semi-separate room with a long table setting- a “Godfather room”. Situated on the second floor of a building on Market Street, most tables had a view of the City. The menu is a la carte and not that extensive for an upscale Chinese restaurant. We had the steamed dim sum platter, crispy duck rolls, foie gras salad, crispy duck salad, roasted rock cod with Chinese honey sauce, and braised short ribs with black bean sauce. The assorted dim sum platter was excellent – succulent and bursting with flavor. The crispy duck rolls were rather bland and the crispy duck salad was to me rather dry but wife liked it very much. The foie gras salad, on the other hand, was very good, though I would have preferred the foie gras to have been sautéed rather than fried. The rock cod was perfectly cooked, flavorful, delicious, as was the short rib. Wife had their blended white wine, which was not quite cold enough, but once she asked for a colder serving, they took pains to ensure that the second glass was ice cold. I had one of their special cocktails, Chinese mule (tasted, what can I say, like a mule of a cocktail?), and the Sofie ale (a good hay to the mule.) The total cost was about $250 before tip. The service once we passed the reception gate was excellent. Overall, a rather curious experience but we will probably come back (hoping the reception will be more welcoming!) for the steamed dim sum and try other dishes.

Incredible experience! We were unavoidably late - after the lunch period over. They graciously accommodated us with full menu and patiently explained the menu. Volunteered to take a family photo!

Not vegetarian friendly , extremely inflexible. We were all vegetarians and they refused to substitute ingredients and charged the same high price with almost nothing in dish. Very disappointed , not worth the money.

We came her for dinner our first full day in San Francisco. We were never introduced to our waiter and instead just had 3-4 people coming to our table. It was very efficient, however It was unclear who to ask things for. We were also here for our 1 year anniversary which we indicated on open table and not one word was spoken of this. The duck egg rolls were very good. My husband really liked the steak stir fry. I got the chicken, the sauce and seasoning were great but I think it may have been chicken wings or thigh from taste/texture- at such an expensive restaurants that I was expecting different. Overall 3/5.

Food was very good - service not that good or at least the service from the bar. Took 25 min to get a drink after we sat, yet the apps came in 10. The manager was very nice, came to our table and graciously apologized and took care of our drinks.

Standard Hakkassan menu but lacking a bit of the quality that goes with the dishes served at the London venues. Great bar, good service, easy to get a booking (same night reservation on a Thursday) and reasonable value particularly given the cost of high end dinning in San Francisco. Well worth the walk from the Top of the Mark post cocktails.

I brought my wife to Hakkasan to celebrate a wonderful promotion at her job that day The only seating available for us where the noise was less severe was on a leather -type banquet in a room to the right of the bar as you enter. The cushioning was horribly uncomfortable and is badly in need of reupholstering. We felt a constant stream of cold air from the ceiling but there was no seating elsewhere other than in the midst of loud noise. We were given each a warm plate on which to transfer our food from the serving platters. But by the time the food arrived, the plates were ice cold. I asked for warm plates and was told "we do not have warm plates." The hot food turned cold very quickly. Toward the end of our meal, the air-conditioning was turned down but by that time we were almost done . The experience was a huge disappointment. I have hosted people at Hakusan 1/2 a dozen times but will not return unless I am assured the poor experience will not be repeated.

As usual, the food and drinks were great. We had an exceptionally great server. He was so accommodating, friendly yet professional. I had the pan fried veg dumplings and the vegetarian chicken. These two are some of my favorite dishes there - always wonderful.

Extremely bad experience.
1. I did mentioned to both host (downstair and upstair) that I made a reservation at 1pm but I was late. Later that day, I've received Open Table that I didn't show up to my reservation which required back and forth email with OpenTable to make sure there was no bad mark with them given I was with OpenTable since 200x.
2. Upstairs lady host wasn't friendly at all and She didn't tell us to be seated. So I was waiting until my friend walked for seating. She walked behind her because she came out from her booth and my friend assume she is seating us so she went with her.
3. Host wasn't tentative when seated. Nobody come after 5 mins or so when we sat down. He was polite to notified to us that he was busy. He was nice. There was not enough waiters/waitress so the wait was longer, which is understandable.

I cannot believe this is a Michelin Stars restaurant as the food and services doesn't live up with the standard. Even though I did give a recent tips as the waiter was nice even slow, it will be my first time that I will not recommend anyone or my friends or me going back there ever again.

Maybe pricey, but lovely service, outstanding steamed dumplings: we liked the Hakka more than the veggie entree, and the crispy duck salad is delicious and different. Close to Union Square which was important to us because we needed to walk from our hotel.

Service is really bed. The hosts were talking to each other and just ignored us for 2 minutes. Then they made us wait (even though we had a reservation) and told us she'd call us when the table was ready. After 15 minutes I went to check what's going on, and the table was ready but they forgot to call our name. That already made us uncomfortable even before we started dinner.
The server was rude and had all sorts of weird rules, like having to take all of the order at once and not letting us order an additional dish after starters. And at some point they just brought us the check - guess they decided it was time for us to go (after less than 1h30).
The restaurant was not full at all (9pm on a Wednesday), so not sure why the attitude. When I went there last year they were super nice, wonder what's changed.

Great meal. We arranged for a private room, with a fixed menu. The menus were printed and personalized for our group, and the service was outstanding. Definitely a great choice for a big birthday or an important business meeting. They also took into account the dietary needs of our vegetarian guests.

I made my reservation at 10pm. When I arrived in the restaurant (on time) and ordered a bottle of wine, the waitress said to my wife and I that the kitchen wil be finishing in 30 minutes. After this time I was angry. For me the restaurant couldn't accept reservations until 10pm, and finishi the kitchen after 30minutes. I drunk a bottle of wine and had my meal in 45 minutes in a special day for me and my wife, because we were celebrating our wedding aniversary. I don't believe about this situation. We have been in 5 or 6 restaurants in one week in USA and this one was the worst, because of this reason. Eduardo Correa
