Loved this place! Service was top notch and food was delicious!
Having dined at the Las Vegas and London locations, I was excited to take my girlfriend to the San Francisco location. Upon arriving, we took the elevator up and were immediately greeted nicely by the host who showed us to our table. To my chagrin, the table was extremely close together to parties eating on the right and left of us - so much so that we could hear every word of their conversation! (It was almost as if we were dining as a party.) The server offered us a choice of water - we chose the filtered tap, which tasted lovely. We ordered 5 items, and couldn't even finish all of them / were completely full afterwards. The highlights for us were the Crispy Duck Salad, the Dim Sum Platter, and the Vegetarian Chicken. The Hakkasan noodles can be skipped as can the Clay Pot Chicken. Our server was delightful and certainly did a good job of making me feel elevated. The bathrooms were lovely as well, and I liked being personally walked to the bathroom by my waiter as they did in the other locations I've been to of the restaurant. Besides the close-knit atmosphere leaving a little to be desired, the rest of the dining experience was lovely and we enjoyed it thoroughly. If you're going here to talk over serious topics and want you personal space, I'd say pass; however, if you're going for a fun evening with amazing food (that makes you feel full!) and light- hearted, memey conversations, Hakkasan is a 5 star choice for sure.
I and my friend had a lovely dinner at Hakkasan before going to see a play at ACT-SF. We are both vegetarian, and shared the vegetarian dim sum platter, stir-fry black pepper vegetarian chicken, and black sesame and chocolate dumplings. Everything was very creatively prepared with wonderful flavors. Service was outstanding.
Excellent service, great ambience and elegant central bar.
Food generally very good (especially the interpretation of San Choy Bao) but the wagyu beef ( at $88.00) was dissapointing as it tasted like any piece of beef and certainly lacked the charateristic fatty creamyness I expect. Overall its worth a visit but unless you have money to burn, avoid the stir fried Wagyu!
I thought the food was OK but very over priced. Added up to nearly $200 for two people and no alcohol, just sparkling water.
Very disappointed with food.
Truffle noodles (no flavor), waygu beef (cold, bland), fried rice (flavorless)
Dim sum (ok)
Duck Salad (good)
Sea Bass (very good)
Hong Kong Dusk (good)
Goodfella Old Fashion (bad)
Kind of a club vibe - dark inside with moderately loud music. The food was good but perhaps not as good as I expected given the cost. Seemed like a fun spot for a date.
Wonderful in every way from the time we walked in, until we left. Lovely scents as you enter, warm ambience, gracious servers and fabulous food and drinks. Grateful. Wish they were in Chicago too.
hakkasan Very good, as usual. Tasting and inovativas menu.
Quite tasty food but not as good as the price implies. Crispy duck roll was filled with mealy and bland sausage- would have been incredible with a chunk of breast meat. Steamed Sea bass was perfectly cooked but was it really sea bass? The place felt a touch dingy- time for a refresh. Service was outstanding.
Hakkasan is a gem. It’s a little pricey, but the quality food and service was there. The only downside (a small one) for me was it felt and smelled too much like a bar. There was this odor of next morning bar smell going on, that impacted my enjoyment of the really great food. Don’t get me wrong, I would totally go back for the food, the staff, and the experience.
Delicious food but horrible seating....seating way to close to have a romantic evening. We were celebrating our anniversary and had to ask to be moved to another table....that table was ok UNTIL the next table was sat. We ate and left.
Portions were really too small for the price they charged.
Food should be better
Fabulous food and service. The smell of incense at the entry is horrible though.
Delicious food. Special attention to details. Meat portion was a little small in the spice beef. Amazing dim sum.
Awesome place and awesome service! They we very good in providing an exwc
I am lucky enough to have eaten here many, many times. The bar area is fun and the cocktails special. The food is amazing. Every dish I have tried has been wonderful and I appreciate that nothing is ever over salted. The flavours are delicate and balanced. The Cod and fish dishes are particularly good. Well Done team Hakkasan!
Beautiful restaurant... unbelievable food! Dim sum, spicy prawns and asparagus we’re phenomenal! Make it a point to go!!!
Great service, amazing food. My truffle noodles with crab and scallops were really good. From No-alcoholic drinks I recommend their fresh made lemonade - strawberry my favorite.
Food was good, but on par with other good Asian restaurants- but much more expensive.
We were disappointed at how very close our table for two people was RIGHT next to two other tables. With loud music in the background the diners have to speak up to be heard, and then we could all hear each other's conversations. The prices are high: $15 drinks, $20 appetizers, all a la carte for soups, vegetables, even rice. The crab corn soup was bland, silver cod was delicious, curried shrimp average. For $100 per person, we expected outstanding food and ambiance, and this was just very good, with the drawback mentioned above.
Incredible food! Impeccable service. This was a very special evening indeed.
The restaurant is really good with some unique vegetarian options.
Amazing service and even more amazing food! Expensive, but honestly worth it. Ordered the lobster dish and it’s the best I’ve ever had! The macarons are also to die for! Also called ahead for a birthday and they made the dessert all special. Loved everything about this restaurant
Overpriced ok Chinese food in a clubby environs.
This is one of the coolest resaurants I’ve been to. We celebrated my dads 58th birthday here and he loved it. Then even baked is a customized orange chocolate mousse cake! The food here is incredible, especially the bamboo dumplings (and all the other assorted ones too!)
Great place to meet with friends. Good and service was amazing.
Hakkasan is definitely a restaurant for a special occasion or dining on a business expense account. The cocktails are very tasty and it is a very elegant lively atmosphere. The food is very good but very pricey for Chinese food. I had lunch with work colleagues where we shared 4 dishes (2 of which were in the small dish category) and each of us had a cocktail and the bill was over $200. Don't get me wrong, food was great and waiters attentive. But I wouldn't go again.
Loved it all highly recommend what a lovely evening we had there
Amazing food! Have been several times. Tonight had salt and pepper squid, sea bass and spicy prawns. All were spectacular. The sea bass was out of this world., melt in your mouth and delicious flavor. The restaurant music is very loud... a little to dance club for my taste but love the overall modern ambiance.
The hostess is terrible with a condescending attitude. The other servers are great but please make sure the hostess is more professional.
The food here is absolutely awesome. So are the prices - and not in a good way. Count on a minimum of $100 a person for a light meal with drinks, $150 or more if you order a big meal, which is easy to do. The lamb tenderloin dish and the pumpkin duck dumplings are amazing. One dish I would NOT order again: the udon noodles, very ordinary, too salty, not worth the money. Overall, the cuisine here is creative and truly serious, carefully made and presented, worth savoring slowly, not wolfed down. Definitely a find for foodies! The interior is beautiful and interesting (a glowing triangular bar!) Not too loud for conversation. We were there for over 2 hours and didn't notice the time go by. Background music when we were there: hipster-ish techno/electronica, at a noticeable but not overwhelming volume. We were there for a birthday dinner, and even though I had only mentioned it in my OpenTable reservation, the staff brought my wife's dessert with a candle and "happy birthday" written on the dish in chocolate sauce. We will go back, but at those prices we can't afford more than 1-2x a year!
Great choice of food and wine in very relaxing surroundings
We ate there. Two in our party went there earlier than 12:45 and were told to wait. Then by the restaurant’s mistake, they thought we were not on time and gave the table to others. Another person in our party arrived and the three of them waited at the bar. But when the final guests in our party arrived, they found us another table.
This has been one of my favorite restaurants in the us . The kitchen had an off nite with all of our choices - shrimp appetizer abit oily , the potstickers were not flavorful, the Chilean sea bass was a huge hunk of fish , was not fresh , had bad presentation ; the sauce of the lamb chops was mediocre. This was not the usual stellar place . Hope it was an aberration.
Ribs, rice, duck salad, tiger prawns as always was outstanding.
Wine beef great as always, but as always the noodle cone it was presented in was way pre-made and not eatable. Too bad, at these prices it would be prefect every time.
I have been coming here since they opened, at least 3 times a year when I am downtown.
Service started out great until we were handed dessert menus after 25 minutes we had to waive down someone to get our server At this point we just paid and left. Too bad....
Food and ambiance were excellent. Felt very rushed by the server. Didn’t ask if we wanted dessert.
