Too noisy, bad service, food ok-ish, busy decor. Waiters messy and pushy and not very helpful when asking advise on which dishes they could suggest........./
Good food and lovely ambience! The staff is really welcoming.
Hi there, Thanks for your comments and 5 stars! On behalf of the entire team, we all hope to seeing you again soon at Hakkasan Mayfair! Sincerely, the Hakkasan Team
It was my worst experience so far. The service was very slow considering the restaurant was empty. I waited an hour for a duck salad. The salad was supposed to be my main, it came as a starter. Then they took it back and instead of bringing a new freshly made salad, they gave me the same old one again. For the price you pay you’re supposed to get a good quality service. They offered another salad on the house but I had to cancel as I need to go back to work. Came hungry, left hungry and annoyed. Overall, the food is great but the staff is ruining it.

A fantastic restaurant with a fantastic menu. We asked the staff for recommendations and was given a great menu for us.
Excellent service from Franco
Only issue was that the table we sat at was a bit cramped for the 5 of us.
Hello there, Many thanks for taking the time to write us a review. Our guests' to say are of the upmost importance to us and we will surely pass your comments to our Franco. On behalf of the entire team, we shall look forward to welcoming you back at Hakkasan Mayfair soon. Kindest regards, the Hakkasan Team
My family and I have dined at here for years, and although it is still very nice, I preferred it before. The menu has slimmed down, and some of our favourite dishes are no longer available, we always used to order a specific duck dish as a main which was reasonably priced- now the duck dish available is almost £20 dearer. My children always used to have the Shanghai dumplings- these have gone as has the prawns in yellow bean. Also we ordered two noodle dishes, one Hakka the other Singapore, the portion of the Hakka noodles was much smaller, and I’m sure you used to get a larger portion of soup?
Dear MariaD, Hope you are well and thank you for taking a moment to write this review. Looking at the points you have expressed I can assure you we shall work on this. Thanks again and Look forward to seeing you again soon. Warmest regards, The Hakkasan Team
Amazing food and service, food took a wile to come but it was so tasty.
Hakkassan is simply Devine!
For almost 20 years they have served the most gorgeous Chinese food with unparalleled quality.
The cocktails are equally amazing.
I love hakkassan & it is my favourite Chinese restaurant.
Dear Joojooak, How wonderful to see your fantastic feedback. Thank you so much for taking time to leave us your comments. Hopefully we shall see you soon. Warmest regards, The hakkasan Team
For a Michelin Star restaurant, this was pretty poor and one of the worst Chinese / Cantonese dinners I've ever had. I'm not quite sure why this restaurant is rated so highly and I get the impression it's one of those "instagramable" places. Allow me to explain.
It was a little dark but each of the tables were well lit. There was good music (not too loud) in the background, a lot to look at and generally a very pleasant atmosphere. The decor was well kept and of course of a fine standard.
My waiter....was odd. It was as if he was "high". He seemed bored, completely uninterested, inattentive and made no effort. This amongst other factors led to us almost making a very big error which I will explain below.
I didn't mention allergies initially as I expected the menu to be clear. But the first flag was our waiter didn't care to ask. One of my guests has severe allergies to seafood. About 85% of our order was alternative to seafood to keep it safe. However, this is where it gets interesting. I then mentioned to the waiter to be mindful in the kitchen as we have someone with severe seafood allergies. Uninterested (in appearance), he then pointed out that MOST of the food had seafood or some derivative of seafood in it. This led to me requesting a change in cutlery, changing one meal (could not change others as they had started cooking) and again reinforcing the request to be careful.
The quality of the food was quite poor. I had an aftertaste in my mouth for hours. I had one of the dumpling platters, the soft shell crab (I could taste a bit of "burn" in it), the squid starter (a bit overcooked), beef in black bean (the beef was extremely soft, weak flavoured and weird in texture), beef in black pepper (sauce was good, beef was weird), lamb (good sauce, weird lamb), hakkasan noodles (don't waste your money) and a very ordinary egg fried rice. The quality of the food was below that of china town.
Lucky for the restaurant, I've hit the word limit for my review.....

The initial male maitre d’ was up himself completely.
The upstairs restaurant is too bright and not like other Hakkashans.
Downstairs was much nicer. Food was excellent but far too quick. No gaps between courses.
There are far better Chinese restaurants in London for a fraction of the price. The food made it a nice night but I wouldn’t go back and it’s certainly not worthy of its Michelin star.

Service was disappointed this time.
Every time I need to call a waiter/assistant for every thing.
Very poor service if u consider where you are and the prices.
Food is always good at this beautiful restaurant.
Dear Andrea, Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us. They serve us as a great platform to better ourselves and have our guests come back again and again. This was my third time there. Second time was to celebrate my mother's birthday (on New Year's Eve) and the night before we departed asked my mom where she'd like to go on her last night and she said Hakkasan. The food was spectacular as always. My mom said she couldn't go back to the places we used to frequent when we visited in London... Hakkasan had ruined us for all others!
Dear MaryamS, Thank you for taking a moment to leave us your review, what a wonderful feedback. We are so very happy to hear that you had a great Hakkasan Mayfair experience. Looking forward to seeing you again soon. Kindest regards, the Hakkasan Team
I’ve eaten much better Chinese food at shopping malls and Chinese buffets. Extremely disappointed. The food was below average to poor. To rub salt in the wound the prices were astronomical. I don’t know how this place got a Michelin star but it certainly wasn’t the food!
In more detail: I LOVE Chinese food. I grew up eating it in restaurants. I was super excited to get a table at Hakkasan after looking for restaurants with a Michelin star. We ordered several dishes and only one was good. This of course was disappointing but the extremely high price of the food took it from disappointing to plain insulting.
Here’s what we ordered:
Hot & Sour Soup - bland, neither hot, nor sour, not enough ingredients, bitter aftertaste
Dim Sum - bland, interesting ingredients but not much flavour, poorly cooked... bottom of rice wraps melted away on plate
Soft Shell Crab - oily and overbreaded... egg yolks were interesting but the plate was much too full of them
Salt and pepper squid - oily and way too much breading... not enough salt or pepper, couldn’t finish the plate
Sweet and sour pork - tasteless, poor quality extremely fatty meat disguised in a lot of breading. As my wife said: “I’ve ordered better at a shopping mall.”
Spicy Prawns - good, but nothing special
Worth mentioning that this less than mediocre tasting meal cost us £175.
To be fair the decor was kinda interesting, save for the much too loud music downstairs. Also, the presentation of the food and the service were adequate. Overall however, this place was all show and no substance. The ridiculous prices are the worst part, earning it the lowest rating I can give.
Dear Elijah, Firstly I would like to say thank you for taking a moment of your time to leave us your feedback. In regards to the points in which you have expressed, on behalf of all the team at Hakkasan Mayfair we hope to see you again soon. The server wouldn’t seat us at a table while half of the restaurant is empty
Dear Choy, Many thanks for taking the time to leave us a review. Our guests' to say are of the upmost importance to us. It's disappointing to read that you were not happy with the ambiance. Hopefully we will have the chance to redeem ourselves on a different occasion. Warmest regards, the Hakkasan Team
