We invite you to try Hakata Tonton’s Authentic Kyushu Japanese Soul Food. We have a number of dishes which may same strange to the eye, but are delicious renditions of the food made famous in Hakata, Japan. Pork, Collagen, and Cod Roe are all specialties of the region and you can enjoy them in various combinations on our Japanese fusion style menu.
Our food is made to share and does not come in any particular order, as is the tradition in Hakata. We invite you to be adventurous and try a number of small plate items so that you get a feeling for our savory cuisine.
We have chosen a number of unique wines and Japanese sake we feel goes well with our savory cuisine and invite you to try a glass or a bottle. We have priced our wines by the bottle way below what most restaurants charge, so you can enjoy without hurting your wallet.
Finally, we invite you to try our collagen cuisine. It’s great for your skin and most importantly, we think you will love our presentation and taste.

The food here is very delicious. You can taste the original flavor of the food. It is a perfect place after you have drunk in the night. Strong recommended.

OMG, I definitely will come back. It was delicious, reasonable and services were awesome. All of stuff are so friendly and helpful.
I was born in south part of Japan. I'm familiar with those food. I didn't expect I can get this kind of food in NY. Totally recommend it.

Ambiance is very Japanese style, but a little compact. Service is very nice and some food is awesome too. The hotpot was a little so so to me.

Quite honestly, I have been there twice. This recent time I was disappointed in the meat and vegetable portions (very light for the price) but mostly in the quality of the meats for the shabu shabu hot pot. Also, when customers order multiple meats (pork belly and rib eye), a separate hot pot should be used to not mix the different broths. The assumptionthat folks don't know this is not okay.

The waitress was a little rude to my group when we ordered. We were a group of three non-Asians and she assumed we knew nothing about the menu. When I ordered MOTSU NABE she looked at me as if there was no way I could eat that and said YOU KNOW THAT IS PIG INTESTINES. Then I ordered
the OKONOMIYAKI with TONSOKU. She replied NO THE OKONOMIYAKI DOESNT HAVE TONSOKU.
Well actually it does...
She was quite abrasive and it made for an uncomfortable moment. I didn’t like being treated as if I were an idiot when I was about to drop $150 for dinner.

The food and service are both satisfied.
One tip for ordering Hakata Hotpot: If you also order other dishes, you may reduce the number of orders for the hotpot. Tonight we three ordered one garlic fried rice, one grilled pig feet as well as three orders of hotpot, which turned to be too much for us in the end.

They are different from two years ago. Food is still good. Service and reservation management is so messy. They used to be a tip free restaurant but it has been changed too. Not sure if I will visit again

Although space is very limited, food is amazing. Not only its specialty, Motsu Hot Pot but also all the hot and cold plates are so delicious.

Food was good, but over-priced. I ordered extra meat and got 6 pieces of extremely thin meat at $1 dollar for hot pot. They were initially rude but got better at the end.

Had their house made avocado tofu (nice!) pig foot (way too fatty but nice skin where grilled crisp) and veg (forget which one but I think kale) fried rice (delicious! but low veg quotient). Hot pot minimum is two orders. Need to go back to try hot pot!

The day we went there was an heavy snow day. We arrived there on time and at that moment there is only one people being seated in the whole restaurant. At this situation, the host still make us walked to other location with no reason. Even this request was ridiculous but there is no time for us to change to other restaurant we still walked to the other location. The host at the other location didn’t even help us hand out coats. It was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had. The service make me wonder why they still open. This restaurant should just shut down and teach each staff how to serve their customers.

I've been coming here on and off for years - especially in winter. Food was great as usual, but the service seems to have dropped. The courtesy expected from a Japanese establishment was missing this time. The head waitress seems to be training the others on the floor, but our waitress was extremely condescending even though she seems to be the one with communication difficulties.

Make sure to get a reservation here if you decide to go! The food was very good and our waiter was very nice, but everything besides the actual hotpot is TINY. All of the apps and entrees are very good but basically 2 bites of food. The hotpot is definitely your best bet.
