Love the pig feet hot pot! Other hot dishes are also amazing
Fantastic, I am going to come here every time I visit NYC!
The food is good as usual.
we enjoyed hot pot with white soup called Motsunabe in japan. It was really good !
we ate all‼️ I love Yuzu kosho also that is best,
The service this time is significantly worse than all previous times I went (last time was ~4 months ago). No one offered to help or explain how the hot pot works at all. When we asked if they could help, they were like “read the instructions”.
Was poorly greeted by aggressive who with any empty room wanted to send us to other location then tried to seat us in a tight corner.
So disappointed after previous visits that were great!
Food quality has changed-after being deemed our favorite we do not plan on returning
Ambience and food presentation could be better. Everything else was good.
Service was excellent as usual. Only comment is about the really small portion of intestine in our motsunabe. There were a couple of whole, fatty pieces, but the rest were broken, small ones. Otherwise the dish was delicious, but didn't feel like we got our money's worth. Would still come back though because I love the broth.
NOT AS GREAT AS IT USED TO BE. STILL GOOD.
Still is a good place to good if you are looking for Hakata style hotpot
I've been dining here for the past ~5 yrs.
There are a few noticeable changes that concern me.
1. Food portion is getting smaller. I'm fine with raising the price since price of everything else is pumping, but not the same price but reduced portion. And it's noticeable. I'll put some comparison pictures here when I find them.
2. Favor changed. Taste is not as strong as it used to be. Also, not as it traditionally should be. Maybe someone complains about it being too salty? but come on, it's the way it should be. Please have the option on the menu to choose the traditional way or the plain way.
3. Service is changing. It's a busy restaurant, gets fully booked every day. Before, all the staff is nice and super-efficient(to a point where I really wanna tip them when they don't take tips). Lately, there is a rush feeling. Feels like they are rushing you out. Took plates away or started to change things on the table without asking or at least notice. First time got soup on my shirt while they were cooking noodles. ALSO, NO MORE SUGARS when leaving.
4. Seating. It's getting more crowded. One of the staff asked the customer who sit right next to me to move her seat because staffs can't walk in between. Seems to be normal, but the lady was already in a very tight position. Instead, think about seating, please. Plus, my seat got hit twice by staffs.
Don't get me wrong. This is a very good restaurant. And one of the few places in NYC where you can get authentic Hakata regional hotpot. My go-to place when I'm in the area. Wish all the best.
It's my first time here. They got very delicious authentic Japanese food! The servers are very friendly.
It's so good,Really love washu beef sushi wz uni and caviar!! Also Shabu tasted good.
Everything was good! I like it! :)
The portion is way too small for the price. Only 3 pieces of pork feet in a three-person pot. The waitress are very nice but the service is super slow.
I wanted to try everything on the menu. We had Tonto Hotpot, garlic soy tonsoku, gyoza and kanpachi with mentaiko sauce and everything was delicious. I am Japanese but we don’t live in NYC so this was such a delightful experience. Now that my American husband and 4 year old daughter totally dig tonsoku, we’ll definitely be more adventurous with our order next time! Service was wonderful as well. Friendly and attentive staff.
It was awesome as expected. Have been here a couple times now. A go to place for sure
Very delicious and authentic food, and friendly service!
Overall it was a great experience, however, beware pots are for minimum 2 people, they do not offer pots for 1 person.
Great little Japanese restaurant in the West Village. Always a must when I visit the city. Delicious fresh food, best gyozas anywhere and awesome service! 😊
Food is as good as always. Service is exceptional this time.
My favorite Japanese restaurant in NYC, simply epicurean!
Nice quiet dinner with my babe. We had the hot pot, nothing special, followed by the noodle option. We are big noodle fans, and this was definitely nothing to cry home about. Soft and mushy flour noodles. Scallop handroll and housemade potstickers were a hit. I would not order their specialty again but would consider trying other sushi items.
The restaurant is special
They have true Hakata food. I enjoyed food from my hometown. Yes, I am from Fukuoka Japan, so I know whether the food is authentic Japanese food or not. Fortunately, they did not compromise the taste for American like. If you really want to eat Japanese food, try this restaurant. I strongly recommend it. Yoka-Yoka. (Good Good)
The food is very delicious! The services is also very good. The server helps you with stir the hot pot, as it was my first time there. Two orders for the HAKATA TONTON Hot pot is enought for a couple.
It took awhile to get the attention of the waiting staff. The porkbelly we got was much more dry and stiffer than what a porkbelly sbould be. Besides that the food was great!
Very small location. The experience was so-so. Seating was limited and requested a seat but was not accommodate. The person i spoke to was a bit rude about seating request. The waitstaff that served the table were friendly. Not my best experience here.
Wonderful experience. Just make sure you make reservations. Will definitely come back.
We were seated immediately upon our reservation time and the service was great. The waitress came to explains how hotpot works and constantly check on us if we need further assistance. Hotpot is yummy and the pig feet is a must try. Fried rice is some different from the usual fried rice we had, it has this weird fishy taste. Overall, great experience and tasty food.
We ordered the Hakata Motsu hot pot for 2. It was overpriced. The beef intestines were very fatty and there's only a limited selection of vegetables in the pot (cabbage and chives). It was definitely not worth $44. The serving of noodles was also very small and it costs $5. The other dishes were okay, but not great. Overall, I did not enjoy it.
My Japanese friend introduced me to this place and ever since I go there anytime I have a chance. I love their signature broth, especially in fall and winter. Writing about it makes me hungry :) Also, the staff is super friendly.
As always - it was great being there for dinner and we enjoyed the food
The place is too loud. And you sit too close to the next stable and hear the whole conversation. It’s maybe normal in Manhattan but the loudness is much more than any other Japanese places I have been.
Always exciting. Great choices. Service was friendly and quick.
Servers were respectful and super helpful. Great atmosphere and delicious food.
Wasn’t as good as I had three years ago but still a good place to go with friends!
This is my 2nd time dining but with different party.
It s as good as I was expected
The ambiance is not good. Too many people are crowded in a small restaurant. The food is so delicious. And if you go on Friday and Saturday and pay by cash, you will enjoy 5% discount.
Taste not that good... and the food is not that good
Great food
The food was great but small portions😅 well good excuse chance to have another menu.
We felt very discriminated against by the manager because we weren't Asian or white. The electricity went out and while everyone else was offered to move their table we were told that we would have to leave. We will not be going back here.
