We were really excited about celebrating our friends 30th birthday but we were very disappointed when we waited on our food for nearly an hour while we were one of the only tables waiting in food. Our waitress also forgot to get our checks, then forgot to take one of our cards to pay so we ended spending over 3 hours at the restaurant, not by choice. Food was good but of course you pay a good bit for it.
This is the 4th time we have been here, with each visit diminishing in food quality.
There seemed to be some confusion about eating on the patio, even though that was requested the reservation was made. The table looked like it had not been wiped down prior to service.
Waited over 10 minutes to get noticed by wait staff and get a menu. Salad was good. $36 snapper entree was a SALT BOMB. The snapper- supposed to be fresh, but I’m dubious- was over cooked, and the risotto with mushrooms and the broccolini were so over salted, it ruined everything.
Probably won’t go back. There are much better restaurants in B’ham.
Service was very slow at the start. 25 minutes before we were asked if we were ready to order appetizers. My main was the Grouper and it was cooked well well done like a dry piece of chicken. I would’ve sent it back but it had taken so long to get I wasn’t willing to wait for another bad outcome.
Restaurant was nice and service was good but a little slow. All four of us at table had fish which was overcooked. Should have sent it back but we were all hungry. Food was very disappointing
The food was tasty! The restaurant is very dark, with bright lighting over truly terrible art on the walls. Service was good!
Plain and simple, the food is always spectacular! I can not recommend HFS enough!
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere! I highly recommend this place!
Good food and good wine. Glad to have this great hotel and restaurant in my city.
Went to Habitat for a night out with friends. Food was delicious...pork chop for me, petite filets for two others. Great service by Delisha. And the manager helped out by getting a pillow to support my wife’s back.
Great service. She made an excellent wine choice. She explained the features and we ordered the quail and rabbit. Great food. We played pool after dinner. Bartender was a little slow.
Went for a special Valentine’s Day dinner.
Staff was courteous and timely.
Food was terrible, tasted like it had been sitting out for a long time, was a special menu for Valentines Day, everything we ate was cold and tasted like it had been sitting out somewhere for a long time, crusty even the cheesecake tasted like it had a crusty film over the outside. Will not recommend and will not dine there again. Was the worst Valentine’s Day dinner I’ve ever had.
Service was excellent. We did the wi
Tends to be a little high $ at least for Valentine's night.
We went to the Habitat in Valentine"s Day. There was not option but a four-course dinner. Did not like and eat the appetite and dessert, but of course still had to pay for the whole dinner. The 2nd course with shrimps and scallops was very good, the 3rd course (some kind of meat) was so so. The waitress was very nice though. Overall, it's not worth revisiting.
Our 2nd time here, it was empty then). There was a special Valentine's menu, which was nice...but expensive. And it was more food than we would have ordered otherwise, meaning we couldn't finish most of the courses. The presentation of & taste of my quail were fine. My wife did not enjoy her snapper at all. And we both left our desserts having eaten little, as the taste wasn't worth the calories. Our server was nice, but not intuitive: we had to share a drink menu, I had to ask for my glass of wine, our desserts came with no spoons, etc. Mostly small things - but there were a lot of them. At the end of the day, there are too many good restaurants in Birmingham with better food & service that cost much less to eat here again.
I just wanted to reach out and tell you how great I think The Habitat is. I have thoroughly enjoyed every time I dine there. I must really congratulate you on the choice this Sunday, February 9 with such an awesome experience. Dinner service was run very efficiently, and friendly and with excitement! I was very excited to try the menu. I got the Deviled eggs, shrimp and grits, ribeye and olive oil cake for dessert and let me tell you, it was AMAZING!!! The flavors were exuberant, the portion was perfect, and Our server’s suggestion of making sure to use the sauce with the ribeye was spot on. It really brought the whole dish together. Again, I really did just want to reach out to say how much I have enjoyed dining in the Habitat. Please continue to bring new interesting and tasty dishes to the restaurant, so that I can continue to enjoy them!
Always good food and excellent service. Pork chop was superb!
The food was all excellent (shrimp and grits, catch of the day, pork chops, sides), but it was expensive even considering its quality.
Great food and atmosphere. A little more than I wanted to pay but knew ahead of time how much it would be.
It was a very cool vibe and fun to be a part of. The food was ABSOLUTELY fantastic. I got the cheese board and the catch of the day. This was one of my all time favorite meals I have ever had in Birmingham. I will definitely be going back some time really soon. If you have not been you need to go ASAP.
Our first time here, and we were not disappointed. From the valet to the restaurant staff our experience was an amazing one. Excellent and friendly service. Our wine, dinner, and dessert were all top-notch. The atmosphere and decore were very pleasing. We'll be sure to be booking more dining experiences here in the future.
Very unexciting. My fish was overcooked and dry. Nothing memorable here.
Waitress had bad attitude!
Outstanding food and service. Facility is impressive. Menu is limited and a bit pricey but we'll be back.
Food was fantastic
Appetizers were a little slow getting out but the waitress took them off the bill. Food was good, as expected
It might've been just because it was a New Years Menu, but my only complaint was we were a little disappointed in the portion size of the food we got. The food was phenomenal, and we will definitely go back. We hope to try to wine blending and cooking school too!
New Year’s Eve
Food was great but to pay what we did and to leave hungry was quite upsetting. I guess I should have assumed the portions would be small. May or may not come back but certainly not for NYE.
Great server; enjoyed the food; ambience superb. Carry over noise from the bar was loud
Pompano was superb and side dishes a perfect compliment
Pleasant waitress but extremely slow service
Fun atmosphere and interesting set up
The food was amazing. I will be back. Can’t wait to try the brunch.
Everything was great especially for a Thanksgiving dinner.
We have enjoyed dinner here before but THANKSGIVING was not good at all! Such a disappointment for a 70 per person meal!! Dressing was awful, turkey was dry and tasteless and other items were mediocre at best. PLUS, an additional 20% HOLIDAY tip was added to our bill on top of the 20% ! We paid over $119 in TIPS!!! No warning was given on the HOLIDAY gratuity. Finally, when we were seated the server asked if we wanted mimosas and stated it's complementary. The FIRST one ONLY was complementary
but the second was $10. No mention of this charge was made.
WE WILL NOT BE BACK! Our bill was a total of $ 389 for four people which was terrible for such poor service and food!!!
I'm sure its difficult to cook for the masses on Thanksgiving however I think it could have been done better. Perhaps not prepare snow peas when you know that sitting on a buffet, they will turn grey. As a pescaterean, I did enjoy the smoked seafood but the veggies left a lot to be desired. At the time I went through the line, the salads were mostly gone as was the roasted brussel sprouts. With the price paid, I would have expected someone out there keeping these items filled. The pear compote for dessert was quite tasty though!
Thanksgiving brunch at Habitat was outstanding. We were seated quickly, server friendly and responsive and every bite of food delicious.
Food was amazing and our server was great!
The bar service was not hospitable and slow. They made mistakes with drink orders and seemed indignant about the mistakes. The manager rectified the issue, but should never have risen to that level.
