Unfortunately, they just dropped the ball. The service was terrible. We waited 45 minutes for our appetizer and then the bill had things we didn’t order on it. We’ve eaten here before but this experience was just bad.
We came from the parking lot and climbed the stairs up to the restaurant level only to discover that the entrance was blocked at the top. Stupid!!! There needed to be a block at the bottom as well. Did not appreciate the thoughtlessness
Just three of us for dinner...with four other to-go orders. Service was outstanding! Three of us had the roast fish of the day with succotash and grits...really delicious!
Well I’ve been to habitat a lot and they have once again changed the menu . I get it it’s Covid but it’s weird to have marketed one thing and offer another . The food offered was on the menu was great service was great but choices on menus were mailed in from what used to be available .
We did an impromptu wine tasting and the wine guy who was there put a champagne on a wine flight ..The kicker was he brought out Kendall Jackson as one of the options of Chardonnay , come on . That’s airline or average weeding wine . This place is better than that . Not only that it was 10 dollars a glass
Very disappointing . Habitat used to be a high End place to go eat nice mood nice ambiance ,but not now .it has been like other stuff in Birmingham .mailed in hoping nobody noticed
Just don’t serve lunch open the bar and serve snacks
We made a reservation for 8pm and when we got there the kitchen was closed! Fortunately the server “convinced” the kitchen to make us our meal.
We took our daughter and two granddaughters to dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the evening. The food and service were both excellent!
Having eaten there many times before we were disappointed in the poor quality of both the steaks we were served! For over $45 each they were mainly a large piece of “fat”! We will NOT be having dinner there on our next stay at the Grand Bohemian! Thanks
Went to dinner with two friends. We had an excellent server who did a great job. Food was good and the whole experience was enjoyable.
This is a great and very gorgeous place to eat and socialize!
Plenty of social distance. Excellent service. Very enjoyable small family birthday celebration.
Excellent food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommend!!
We are from out of town, but eat here every time we come through town. We ate on the 2nd night open since the COVID shutdown. Crowd was small, and still working through some kinks, but the staff was so friendly, and the food was exceptional!
We had a very positive experience at Habitat. The meal, service, atmosphere were excellent. I was impressed with their efforts at accommodating changes required by the COVID pandemic - felt like it was done as well as possible.
Kara was exceptional. A true gem. Our valet attendant was very cordial though I cannot recall her namr.
Small issue with timing was handled quickly and effectively by the manager Dale. This ensured our experience was top notch!
I've noticed with several customers that came in the manager looked at them standing at the podium waiting to be seated. He looked at them and kept walking. Luckily when we got there the server saw us and told us to have a seat any where. From that point on everything was awesome. I just didn't like seeing other customers ignored....especially by the manager. The food was great, atmosphere quiet and pleasant. I would visit this place again.
Amazing atmosphere, beautiful view, not too crowded until later in the evening, great food! Service was a little slow but not terrible. We will go again soon!
After making a reservation for OUTDOOR seating and then open table sending me an additional email the morning of the reservation confirming the outdoor seating we arrived at the restaurant on time and were told it’s first come first serve.
The place is Gorgeous, but the service was slow
And I will almost say not good
My son and I visit this place for his birthday
I let them know, but they don’t even Offer me to buy a dessert
Also my meat was overcook and they change it, but I ended eating by my self because my son was done eating by the time the meat was ready
Unfortunately was not a good experience
I love getting to have dinner & drinks at Habitat. The atmosphere, food, and service is always top notch and a perfect low key but still energetic spot!
We were really excited about celebrating our friends 30th birthday but we were very disappointed when we waited on our food for nearly an hour while we were one of the only tables waiting in food. Our waitress also forgot to get our checks, then forgot to take one of our cards to pay so we ended spending over 3 hours at the restaurant, not by choice. Food was good but of course you pay a good bit for it.
This is the 4th time we have been here, with each visit diminishing in food quality.
There seemed to be some confusion about eating on the patio, even though that was requested the reservation was made. The table looked like it had not been wiped down prior to service.
Waited over 10 minutes to get noticed by wait staff and get a menu. Salad was good. $36 snapper entree was a SALT BOMB. The snapper- supposed to be fresh, but I’m dubious- was over cooked, and the risotto with mushrooms and the broccolini were so over salted, it ruined everything.
Probably won’t go back. There are much better restaurants in B’ham.
Service was very slow at the start. 25 minutes before we were asked if we were ready to order appetizers. My main was the Grouper and it was cooked well well done like a dry piece of chicken. I would’ve sent it back but it had taken so long to get I wasn’t willing to wait for another bad outcome.
Restaurant was nice and service was good but a little slow. All four of us at table had fish which was overcooked. Should have sent it back but we were all hungry. Food was very disappointing
The food was tasty! The restaurant is very dark, with bright lighting over truly terrible art on the walls. Service was good!
Plain and simple, the food is always spectacular! I can not recommend HFS enough!
Excellent food, service, and atmosphere! I highly recommend this place!
Good food and good wine. Glad to have this great hotel and restaurant in my city.
Went to Habitat for a night out with friends. Food was delicious...pork chop for me, petite filets for two others. Great service by Delisha. And the manager helped out by getting a pillow to support my wife’s back.
Great service. She made an excellent wine choice. She explained the features and we ordered the quail and rabbit. Great food. We played pool after dinner. Bartender was a little slow.
Went for a special Valentine’s Day dinner.
Staff was courteous and timely.
Food was terrible, tasted like it had been sitting out for a long time, was a special menu for Valentines Day, everything we ate was cold and tasted like it had been sitting out somewhere for a long time, crusty even the cheesecake tasted like it had a crusty film over the outside. Will not recommend and will not dine there again. Was the worst Valentine’s Day dinner I’ve ever had.
Service was excellent. We did the wi
Tends to be a little high $ at least for Valentine's night.
We went to the Habitat in Valentine"s Day. There was not option but a four-course dinner. Did not like and eat the appetite and dessert, but of course still had to pay for the whole dinner. The 2nd course with shrimps and scallops was very good, the 3rd course (some kind of meat) was so so. The waitress was very nice though. Overall, it's not worth revisiting.
Our 2nd time here, it was empty then). There was a special Valentine's menu, which was nice...but expensive. And it was more food than we would have ordered otherwise, meaning we couldn't finish most of the courses. The presentation of & taste of my quail were fine. My wife did not enjoy her snapper at all. And we both left our desserts having eaten little, as the taste wasn't worth the calories. Our server was nice, but not intuitive: we had to share a drink menu, I had to ask for my glass of wine, our desserts came with no spoons, etc. Mostly small things - but there were a lot of them. At the end of the day, there are too many good restaurants in Birmingham with better food & service that cost much less to eat here again.
I just wanted to reach out and tell you how great I think The Habitat is. I have thoroughly enjoyed every time I dine there. I must really congratulate you on the choice this Sunday, February 9 with such an awesome experience. Dinner service was run very efficiently, and friendly and with excitement! I was very excited to try the menu. I got the Deviled eggs, shrimp and grits, ribeye and olive oil cake for dessert and let me tell you, it was AMAZING!!! The flavors were exuberant, the portion was perfect, and Our server’s suggestion of making sure to use the sauce with the ribeye was spot on. It really brought the whole dish together. Again, I really did just want to reach out to say how much I have enjoyed dining in the Habitat. Please continue to bring new interesting and tasty dishes to the restaurant, so that I can continue to enjoy them!
Always good food and excellent service. Pork chop was superb!
The food was all excellent (shrimp and grits, catch of the day, pork chops, sides), but it was expensive even considering its quality.
Great food and atmosphere. A little more than I wanted to pay but knew ahead of time how much it would be.
