Habana - Costa Mesa
Great food! Great drinks, and good service. The noise level is very loud so that took away from the experience. Would definitely go back!
Love the funky location but parking is ridiculous. Plan to valet park or hire a ride service. We went for lunch. Menu is somewhat limited but has the most popular Cuban food items like ropa vieja (shredded beef), lechon (pork) and roasted chicken with lemon garlic sauce. The lemon garlic sauce was a little bland for my taste but it was definitely good; probably ideal for people who don't like intense garlic or lemon flavors like me. Service was great. Sangria, capiranha (I know I botched the spelling!) and champagne by the glass were excellent accompaniments.
Love this place! From the complementary sangria to the amazing atmosphere, Habana is a step into Cuba itself! I can’t get enough of the delicious food and the awesome people!
I love Habana. I used to go more frequently but hadn’t been in a while, so I took my boyfriend who had never been. Needless to say he was in love with it, and I’m glad it’s back in my date rotation! The food is incredible, and good sized portions. Cocktails are also amazing. The best part is the amazing atmosphere outside- perfect setup with super nice mood lighting. It’s a bit loud, but personally I really like that! Makes it feel more vibrant and fun. Overall one of my favorite places to get some “nicer” food and drinks. :)
It was fantastic my server was amazing.
It was really good but parking is horrible but around the corner they have three dollar parking
Great food, service and atmosphere. We have become regulars.
Our first time and not impressed. Based on reviews, parking was very difficult to find if you plan to be there during the prime dinner hour of 6:30-7:30. It is very loud and dark but that doesn't bother me as much as the slow service and marginal food. It took over an hour to get our dinner. The waitress did come and tell us that the kitchen was slow. I had the pork ossobuco and it was very dry and salty. My husband had the skirt steak which was also very salty. We started with the heirloom tomato salad with fried goat cheese- it was described as having raw garlic and it was very overwhelming, especially when put dry on top of tomatoes without much olive oil.
Fun environment! The food was like a party in my mouth, and our server was awesome.
Great food, service & atmosphere! Loved the ambience & decor. The room had great energy!
The patio is the best! Our food was special and tasty. Cream cheese stuffed crab cakes were heavenly and the Spinach Salad was lovely with fried goat cheese croutons. YUM Had a great cocktail with Mezcal in it that was delish as well.
Beside the for being good the service was outstanding.
The food and atmosphere were great! Excellent place for a friend’s get together.
I think they were very unstaffed that evening, but we had horrible service. Water was not re-filled and we were never asked if we ever needed something else. We ordered apps & food, but when the food came it took 20 minutes to get big plates to actually even eat our meal. The food was pretty mediocre, nothing special but with the bad service it led to a very poor experience. Might be different if the service is spot on!
Beautiful place with great food and service
The food and service was wonderful. I arrived and within the minute I was taken to my table. 10/10 recommend
Something has changed at Hanana. I’ve been going there for years. Not anymore! The Caesar salad we ordered was wilted and was flavorless. Our waiter was inattentive. The overall quality of the food was not as it has been in the past!
Cool and lively place with good value food and cocktails.
Habana is located in a unique outdoor retail area, a small fun place to shop while you wait for your table. The ambience was fun, staff very attentive and happy, which I always appreciate. Food was amazing, great flavor, good portions and came out in a timely manner. We are looking forward to coming back and trying other items on the menu.
Great location and wonderful food. The outdoor patio seating was nice, and the food was delicious.
It was very busy and it took the server quite awhile to get to us and get our orders. My friend ordered a drink and they forgot it but to make up for it they still got the drink but gave it to us on the house. I’m always a fan of this place but I usually go on slower days so it’s not as loud and we get quicker service. I still definitely recommend.
Long story short: Reservations at 6 but arrived early and got seated at 5:40 (per hostess' notes) it was 6:50 and we asked for dessert menu, and our waiter comes back and says our time limit was running out and if we wanted to sit at the bar.
1 hour? Our check came at 7, and we kept getting stared down by our waiter! When we left I asked the hostess what exactly is the "time limit" and she said 2 hrs. It was a bit over 1 hour when we were told our time was running out and no time for dessert. Are you kidding me?! NEVER AGAIN. Food was good but not that great.
We drove 45 minutes for a date night that really wasnt worth it for the service. You should NEVER kick your customers out from a table!
Good was great. Service was a little slow at first and then was too fast (we received our salad at the same time as our entree). I will most likely eat there again
I think the food is not as tasty and inventive as it has been in earlier years. I recall getting a fish dish served in a banana leaf that was unique and tasty. Is the ropa vieja the same recipe as in the past? My fish dish and accompanyiamints seemed kind of mushy with no distinct flavor. Sitting outdoors was comfortable enough but no ambiance compared with the inside. Nothing special at all, everyone was disappointed.
Service was extremely slow. 1st round of drinks were brought to table and never again asked if we wanted another one. I put on reservation notes it was for a Birthday celebration and that was never addressed. I was hoping to make that a surprise. Appetizer were served and in between appetizers and meal arriving it took way to long. We sat with no food and drinks almost gone for a good 15 to 20 minutes. First there and don't think I will go back. Server was very sweet but service was horrible.
Pretty much perfect
Service was exceptional and Santiago was very nice. Food was delicious, drinks were gooood! Thank you!!
Great place. Had my boss in from out of town. He likes unique places. This was perfect. Service was great. Food was good.
On line it said this was a great place for a date night and that it was romantic. Not true, it was your typical loud urban restaurant, not romantic at all. Our server said none of their menu item were really spicy. Again
not true, just about everything was very spicy although very good not as the server represented. It was rather hot inside too, so I would suggest sitting on the patio. Much better for friends get together rather than a romantic place.
Made a reservation to eat before theater show. The waiter was super fast, knowledgeable, worked with our very short time frame, less than an hour. The food was amazing and we definitely want to go back and enjoy more dishes!!! BRAVO!!!!!
Overall Habana is a nice restaurant and I would go again. The food is great, but this night the service was a little off. It was hard to even get ahold of our server to let him know we have theatre tix and need to keep it moving along. Ambiance is night, only a little on the dimly light side.
Excellent choice!! We all enjoyed the food and ambiance.
Was excited to try Habana. It was fabulous. So much flavor in every bite. The Sangria was fabulous. Can’t wait to go back!
I have gone to this restaurant many times and always have a great experience. It is expensive, but very much worth it based on the amount and quality of food.
Music very loud
Food not as good as the Irvine’s location
Great service and food. Will be back.
Great place for family celebrations. Took my daughter for her Birthday
