Their food was amazing, the best meal we had in New Orleans, abd we went to several renowned restaurants. Service was equally spectacular. Cannot recommend it enough to anyone.
Great service and food !
My husbands birthday ... we enjoyed 100% of the experience
Quality of the food not as expected
Had a wonderful meal, but we always do! Fallon was a great server who made our experience that much more enjoyable.
Outstanding service, food and wine. We were celebrating our 20th anniversary and they brought out a complimentary special dessert customized for us. One of our favorite items was not on the menu (which changes daily based on fresh catch available), but we asked about it and they were able to accommodate us. Truly exceptional customer service (and they validate 3 hours parking even during special events!). Favorites: Lobster dumplings and rissota, Scalibut and pesto gnocci.
Got the nice quiet corner tucked away. Service and food was excellent as normal.
Great attitude at FOH; we came earlier than our Reso and they sat us down with a happy face; Fallon was our server and she is Awesome, the funny part is that I read a review from open table saying how great she was.
Blue Fin tuna tataki, need to have it; Seafood Gumbo was very good; we paired with Duckhorn Sav blanc and Oregin Pinot.
Soft shell crab and John Dory were main courses, superb!
Excellent gumbo. I had blackened swordfish and my companion had fried soft shell crab. Both dishes were delicious. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Don’t miss dessert - just outstanding.
Overall a very good experience, good fish cooked very well. The Mrs’s had the pork chop which was good , not great. Service was outstanding and the highlight of the evening. One negative was we were celebrating a birthday and were charged a fee for the small desert brought out for the Birthday boy, Really!! Just very petty for a restaurant of this caliber especially when the bill for the two of us was well over $200. Just a sour note to end a very nice otherwise dining experience.
Always amazing!!!! Our favorite NOLA restaurant!!!!
We were warmly greeted, and seated promptly even though we were 4 women. The staff explained the menu items well and helped us choose, recommending wines to go with our various dishes. The food was imaginative, perfectly prepared and served at the right temperatures. The biscuits were marvelous. Water was constantly refilled, but unobtrusively. Tables were tiered and well spaced so it was easy to see the street outside and to have conversations without shouting. As a bonus, one of the St. Patrick's Days parades came by as we ate dinner so we also had a show. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening!
Excellent food and experience!
Fresh and tasty seafood, but nothing special. Compared to all of the other restaurants in the city, this is just OK. Tastes like seafood you can get at any descent seafood restaurant.
Tables well spaced so whilst busy and bustling it was non intrusive. Servers were all attentive without being over formal. Food was a pleasure to eat, and equally well presented.
Special dinner on a weekend trip with our grandson, who is adventurous with food. Saw GWFins was too rated for seafood and snagged a reservation. Did not disappoint, food great, service excellent. If I had to quibble it would be that the wait staff was a bit too quick and felt a bit rushed. Highly recommend this restaurant
Great service, BBQ shrimp not as good as Manales. Fish dishes were outstanding and a great selection of meals for one in our party who must have gluten free. Became a bit noisy when the restaurant was full, but we had corner table by window, so not too bad, great view of a second line parade.
My parents and I enjoyed our time here immensely!!! The food was amazing. The lobster dumplings were great!!!
Food was excellent as was our wine selection and service. Very glad we reserved here rather than at the "must dine at" venues in NOLA
The food at this restaurant was outstanding. My wife had the smoked sizzling oysters and the American red snapper. I had the crispy pork belly and the #1 blue tuna. This is the easily the best restaurant that I’ve eaten at in New Orleans. They decorated our table for our anniversary. The wait staff was exemplary and we had a wonderful time. I would definitely eat here again.
Love this place! Food and service always excellent!
We were pleased to have booked this before we left the U.K. and checking in appeared a bit of a bun fight ( it is very popular we found out) but we were seated bang on our time.
The service was professional, attentive, extremely friendly and helpful.
The food is superb and the waiter was prepared to accept we should treat the oysters as a snack like peanuts and therefore not judged if we also ordered an appetizer.
They also have a dress code and everyone had made the effort.
Certainly worth a visit if you enjoy good food and service.
Good food. Solid service bit not great. Back room had no ambiance at all but main dining area is very loud! Also expensive
Wonderful service and OUTSTANDING food. All around fantastic restaurant.
Best food in NOLA ! A little noisy in dining room. Service was overall good but there were times when wait was little long while waiting for plate to be cleared after eating meal or to get dessert menu.
The dessert "Samoa" was awesome.
Would still highly recommend
One of the best meals My wife and I have had in New Orleans. We will definitely be back!
This was our second trip to GW Finns and we will go back!! The food and service were both surpassed our expectations! Great fresh fish dishes, appetizers, wine and desserts!
Best restaurant in New Orleans! The food was amazing. We started with the lobster dumplings, and our meal was swordfish and scallops. The dumplings and swordfish were delicious. I’m not much of a scallop gal. My friend said they were good BUT the swordfish was way better. Good wine list and reasonable prices. Service was excellent-very professional staff and attentive service. The chocolate bomb was the bomb! Lovely experience. Would definitely come back...!!!
We first ate at GW Fins when it opened, the third night. We have been returning over the last 17 years and are always so impressed. We noticed on our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary and the restaurant went out of their way to acknowledge our special occasion. We were greeted by GW himself, the table was adorned with celebratory decorations and a commemorative menu given as a personal gift. But of course the service and food were just outstanding. This is our can’t miss restaurant.
The service was impeccable. Our waitress was knowledgeable in all of the entrees. We shared an appetizer and a salad which was just the right amount. The smoked oysters were excellent. As always the scallibut entree was outstanding and the Parmesan encrusted sheepshead was another delicious entree.
The entire experience was outstanding! The scalibut may be the best seafood dish I have ever eaten, and the Salty Malty is the perfect way to end the meal!
Given some incredibly long wait times to dine at many restaurants in New Orleans we really appreciated the convenience of being able to make a reservation for a party of only 2! The attention to detail is evident throughout, food is delicious and elegantly prepared and service is outstanding. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at GW Fins and would recommend to other foodies.
Our meal and service was excellent. Only wish I lived closer so I could enjoy this superb restaurant another time.
We had dinner on 3/13/18. After many positive reviews on Trip Adivsor I looked the restaurant up on opentable and was able to get a reservation on one days notice. It was early but we were flexible. We had many of the suggested menu items and they did not disappoint. from lobster dumplings were amazing. My wife had a redfish dish that was excellent. I had the Scallibut. Scallops caramelized and put atop a halibut filet. The fish was excellent and scallops were tasted just wanted more. We had the Chocolate mousee and the Salty Malty ice cream pie for dessert. The Ice cream pie was the better of the two. The chocolate mousse was a little dry. The salty Ice cream lived up to its name. If you have had your fill of salt this is not the dish for you. The Pre-dinner biscuits were amazing. Light and flaky with just a little bit of sweetness. Our wait staff was extremely attentive and helped with all selections. we had a great evening experience.
Our waiter was Oliver and his assistant was Randall and they were excellent in their service to my husband and I. In fact it was over the top in detail, you can tell they enjoy serving their guests. The food was impeccable, visually appealing to the eye and delicious. We never eat desert but we did here and the Bread Pudding is to die for!
We highly recommend GW Fins to anyone wanting an exceptional dinner in NOLA.
Don & Susan
Food was good. The best was the Pork Belly. Food was just warm. Server was wonderful and knew his job and was interested in our dining experience. Lobster bites were too much dough & too little lobster. Salty Malty was very good, bread pudding marginal. Red Snapper good and well presented. Sheepshead not very good and lukewarm.
Incredible food and impeccable service as always.
Great meal, great service, great restaurant. The food was excellent. We had the lobster dumplings - a must! We also had the sheepshead with parmesan crust and the scalibut. Both were delicious. The biscuits were so light and wonderful. Will make this a favorite when in New Orleans.
We read great reviews about GW Fins so were anxious to dine there during our recent visit to New Orleans. But, our experience turned out to be...in a word...DISAPPOINTING. We were seated in a separate, small dining room at the back of the restaurant, which did not please us. Worst of all, my wife's Sea Scallops dinner was undercooked. Rest assured, when we visit New Orleans in the future, we will not be dining at GW Fins!
