Food and service was great; it was just very disappointing we had to wait for 25-30min to get the table we booked for our anniversary in advance. My 74 year old mother almost passed out as she had nowhere to sit during that waiting time.
We recommended by friends who had previously been to New Orleans and were not disappointed. Were a few minutes early for our reservation so had a drink in the bar. Excellent wine list by the glass. Had the Sizzling oysters and Lobster dumplings for appetizers. LoBster dumplings are good but the oysters won hands down! For mains we had the blackened swordfish and the New Bedford sea scallops with wild mushroom risotto. Fish was excellent but the scallops were awesome! Food was great topped off with great service and some good wine - would go back again in a heartbeat!
Great spot ... our bartender not only knew her drinks, but the food menu in detail as well. Our table service was also top notch.
Superb on every level. Service was better than any restaurant I've ever been to in my home town Los Angeles. Recommendations were right on point and every bite was a morsel of heaven. Highly recommend.
The food and service were outstanding. I've eaten at many of the fine restaurants in New Orleans; however, this was my first trip to GW Fins. I highly recommend the visit. We had the Lobster Dumplings, the Triple Iceberg Wedge , Parmesan Crusted Sheepshead , Center Cut Filet, Mashed Sweet Potatoes with Bourbon, banana, vanilla, and White Chocolate & Caramel Bread Pudding. Each dish was presented well and delicious. The home-made biscuits served before and during the meal are also excellent. Marlon, our server, was excellent and very helpful in selecting our menu choices and drinks.
Loved everything about this restaurant. It is easy to see why it has received so many good reviews. We were a party of 4 and every dish was great. It was our favorite restaurant on our trip. If you want seafood, you need to try this one. Dress code is business casual which means jeans and a nice shirt. We will definitely be back
The grilled smoke oysters were out of this world, the risotto side dish was wonderful. The service was very good, pleasant and
Excellent food and service. On my next visit to NO, I will be back. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Best experience we ever had at a restaurant. Marlon, our server, had a great personality, recited the whole menu to us, made good suggestions, attended our every need. Every thing he suggested was perfect. Can’t wait to return to New Orleans to see Marlon again!
Food was phenomenal.i recommend the ceviche appetizer. Our servers Ashley and Craig were super. They knew the menu and were very responsive to our request.
First time here and the chicken was amazing. One of the best I’ve had. Kenny our server was AWESOME! They had the table decorated for my birthday with a special menu scrolled with my name and birthday on it.
Had to wait 10 minutes after our reserved time, but got a corner table, which minimized the noise we heard in the large dining area. Food as expected was great! Wine not as expensive as some other NO restaurants.
In a city of standout restaurants this is our favorite. Exceptional food and service. Innovative preparation.
Their food was amazing, the best meal we had in New Orleans, abd we went to several renowned restaurants. Service was equally spectacular. Cannot recommend it enough to anyone.
Great service and food !
The tuna tartare was fantastic! Recommend the dish!
Omg! I never leave reviews. It was my 40th wedding Anniversary. After our first choice fell through someone recommended GW Fins and it was absolutely perfect. The waiter was perrrfect very patient, knowledgeable and helpful. The food was delicious and the service was superb . I consider myself somewhat of a food critic and very good cook. This was totally outstanding. I regret that I do not remember our waiters name but I want to say he said his name was Alan. He made our evening special and he didn't even know it was our Anniversary and he gave me a beautiful, beautiful red rose that was on the table. This was my first time ever coming to New Orleans and should I ever come back again... I would definitely go back to GW fins.
The best seafood restaurant, hands down. My sister and I were visiting New Orleans last weekend and were excited for our dinner at GW Fins. Everything from our wine, to appetizers to main dishes were absolute perfection...OH, and those biscuits. So good. We had smoked sizzling oysters and lobster dumplings for appetizers, both fabulous. The dumplings melted in our mouths, and the oysters were wonderful--all with perfect presentation. For entrees, we had the John Dory and the Snapper. We shared, so were able to try a few things. Both were excellent. I would definitely recommend GW Fins to anyone visiting New Orleans. Our experience was wonderful!
Each and every time I visit New Orleans, I am sure to have dinner at GW Fins. Each and every time it is fantastic!
Fish was very fresh and excellent prepared service was first class
The food was excellent as was the service. The waiter gave us perfect recommendations and prompt and perfect service. I highly recommend this restaurant!
My husbands birthday ... we enjoyed 100% of the experience
Quality of the food not as expected
Had a wonderful meal, but we always do! Fallon was a great server who made our experience that much more enjoyable.
Outstanding service, food and wine. We were celebrating our 20th anniversary and they brought out a complimentary special dessert customized for us. One of our favorite items was not on the menu (which changes daily based on fresh catch available), but we asked about it and they were able to accommodate us. Truly exceptional customer service (and they validate 3 hours parking even during special events!). Favorites: Lobster dumplings and rissota, Scalibut and pesto gnocci.
Got the nice quiet corner tucked away. Service and food was excellent as normal.
Great attitude at FOH; we came earlier than our Reso and they sat us down with a happy face; Fallon was our server and she is Awesome, the funny part is that I read a review from open table saying how great she was.
Blue Fin tuna tataki, need to have it; Seafood Gumbo was very good; we paired with Duckhorn Sav blanc and Oregin Pinot.
Soft shell crab and John Dory were main courses, superb!
Excellent gumbo. I had blackened swordfish and my companion had fried soft shell crab. Both dishes were delicious. Service was friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Don’t miss dessert - just outstanding.
Overall a very good experience, good fish cooked very well. The Mrs’s had the pork chop which was good , not great. Service was outstanding and the highlight of the evening. One negative was we were celebrating a birthday and were charged a fee for the small desert brought out for the Birthday boy, Really!! Just very petty for a restaurant of this caliber especially when the bill for the two of us was well over $200. Just a sour note to end a very nice otherwise dining experience.
Always amazing!!!! Our favorite NOLA restaurant!!!!
One of New Orleans very best restaurants. A true gem.
We were warmly greeted, and seated promptly even though we were 4 women. The staff explained the menu items well and helped us choose, recommending wines to go with our various dishes. The food was imaginative, perfectly prepared and served at the right temperatures. The biscuits were marvelous. Water was constantly refilled, but unobtrusively. Tables were tiered and well spaced so it was easy to see the street outside and to have conversations without shouting. As a bonus, one of the St. Patrick's Days parades came by as we ate dinner so we also had a show. We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening!
This was the best restaurant we went to in New Orleans. Though beyond our normal eating out budget, we felt it was totally worth the money for a special occasion! GW Fins was accommodating to my gluten free diet which was wonderful.
We had a lovely experience at GW Fins! We look forward to another visit.
Excellent food and experience!
Fresh and tasty seafood, but nothing special. Compared to all of the other restaurants in the city, this is just OK. Tastes like seafood you can get at any descent seafood restaurant.
Tables well spaced so whilst busy and bustling it was non intrusive. Servers were all attentive without being over formal. Food was a pleasure to eat, and equally well presented.
Special dinner on a weekend trip with our grandson, who is adventurous with food. Saw GWFins was too rated for seafood and snagged a reservation. Did not disappoint, food great, service excellent. If I had to quibble it would be that the wait staff was a bit too quick and felt a bit rushed. Highly recommend this restaurant
Expected more from such a highly-regarded restaurant. No "wow" factor here, we found nothing extraordinary. Very large dining area, but better meals can be found at smaller places. Wiil not return and our adivce is to skip it.
