Outstanding in every way.
I would give this restaurant six stars (or more) if I could. The food is exceptional. Menu items are a nice blend of traditional and innovative and the preparation of every one of our courses, from starters to dessert was exceptional. To complement the excellent work of the kitchen, the service is also very strong. Our waiter gave us good descriptions of the menu selections and his recommendations were spot on. In addition, there is a fantastic selection of wines by the glass. One of the best seafood restaurants we have eaten at anywhere.
We were seated promptly at our reservation time. We were shown to a nice booth which overlooked a beautifully appointed restaurant. The service was cordial and professional. The meal was exceptional from the complimentary biscuits through the dessert. The main course was wonderful, it was a halibut filet topped with scallops definitely a must have meal at this establishment.
Perfect, from beginning to the end. A must when in New Orleans
Delicious! Lobster dumpling starter was so yummy I licked the bowl. Salmon and scallops were fantastic! Can’t wait to come back on our next trip to New Orleans!
Service was very nice and biscuits were amazing! My fish was just ok- way over-spiced. Cocktail was ok. Wait staff was lovely.
The appetizers here are exceptional. Lobster dumplings and barbecue shrimp are tops. We had the red snapper for the main dish. It was good but not exceptional. It did not have the depth of flavor nor the moisture you’d expect from this highly rated restaurant. Noise level is fairly high if you are trying to have a conversation. Desserts are excellent.
Great birthday dinner for my wife. Apps included barbecue shrimp I had Gulf mahi that was the most flavorful piece of fish I’ve ever eaten. Dessert was the chocolate mousse bomb. The meal and the service both exceeded expectations.
I will say that our experience was nearly ruined by a hostess. I believe her name is Monette. The booked via opentable and the app listed me under my middle name as the last name on the reservation list. Obviously when I provided the hostess my last name it didn’t match anything under their reservations, so I showed her the reservation on the app, and the inevitable sorry I can’t help you conversation ensued. She acted as if I was being deceitful. After continually challenging her we figured out the issue and then she makes the comment “is that really you, am I giving away someone else’s reservation.” She then asks me if it’s still 4 in our party, with an attitude, I confirm yes as I am now getting irritated and just wanted to be seated. She rolls her eyes at me as I leave the hostess stand. instead of making me feel welcomed and wanted, she made me feel like We needed to beg her to sit in her restaurant. I mentioned her rudeness to another hostess and she commented, yeah she has her bad days. If it wasn’t for the waitress from South Carolina, I would never step foot in that place again. She provided fantastic service and was a delight to be around. The food and the waitress saved our experience. I’d work on the front of the house and put a welcoming person to great your customers.
I thought the food is overestimated and expensive. My fish was overcooked and the appetizers were mundane.
Fabulous dining experience! We will definitely be returning!
Awesome food and experience. Servers were great and addressed food preferences and were very friendly and polite. Loved the overall experience along with the delicious food. Will definitely be going there again
Fabulous first night in NOLA! We had to wait a bit past reservation time, but it was Saturday night of playoff weekend, so not unreasonable. The staff at front was welcoming and gracious. Our server, Anthony, was wonderful. Very helpful and friendly, and quickly handled any allergy concerns. The grouper was outstanding. Incredibly fresh and not overwhelmed by the accoutrements. My husband was thrilled with his blackened redfish. Wine selection was large and well priced. Lobster dumplings are a must!! Wish we tried the pork belly, too...
Highly recommend GW Fins.
Best restuarant I have ever been to. It never disappoints and the seafood is fresh, healthy. and to die for. I come here everytime I come to NOLA!
Always spectacular in every way, from the food to the service. A “must visit” in NOLA.
Excellent dinner! The pork belly and the lobster ravioli appetizers were amazing!!
I’m a fan of this fine restaurant. When I’m in town, I always visit. This time was no less special.
The food is always amazing. And the service is like no other. Ron and Fallon gave me a special experience! They’re wonderful!
Amazing Experience! Our server Ashley was the absolute best. Very knowledgeable and fast. The ambience here was just right for celebrating my moms birthday. They even surprised her with a personalized menu that said Happy Birthday on it. Food was amazing. Table got oysters, steak, pork chop, chicken... all was great. The mushroom risotto is a MUST! Will definitely come back.
Best seafood meal I have ever experienced. Service was great as well.
This place was legit...we will definitely be back and will recommend this to all our friends and family. Top notch...made our visit to New Orleans amazing.😊
Food and drinks were very good , server was less so. Clearly upset we were not ready to order the 5 different times he came to the table as we said “give us a few minutes”. Only time I really considered not leaving a tip - finally left him 20% and chalked it up to him having a bad day.
Menu has a variety of choices to choose from and our fish was cooked perfectly!! Menu changes daily, dependent upon the fish bought that afternoon. Our server was very thorough, one of her first questions pertained to any food allergies we might have.
This was our second time and again GW Fins was amazing. Our waiter Anthony explained the menu perfectly, and the food was outstanding. Definite stop if your in New Orleans.
Every time we visit New Orleans we try to eat at G W Fins. The food is always very fresh and of the best quality possible. The service was great as usual too.
Excellent customer service. Great food choices. Nice table
My worst experience at Fins. Very disappointed.
Four of us had dinner there on 1/16/19. Everything was en pointe from the drinks, appetizers, meals and service. Even though by the name you might think that you should just consider the seafood on the menu, they offer several non seafood dishes - I had the pork chop per our servers recommendation and it was awesome! Lots of unique twists on things---I had the raw tuna tacos with roe for an appetizer-fantastic.
My chocolate desert martini surprised me at first as other chocolate martinis I have had looked "chocolate " while this one was clear with chocolate shavings around the rim. It did not disappoint-smooth as silk and oh so chocolatey.
Service was attentive without being annoying and also they did not make you feel as if you were so lucky to have the privilege of their service as we have sometimes experienced in other places. They were very knowledgeable and had great recommendations according to your personal preferences.
Price is similar to other high end restaurants and well worth it. We go to New Orleans several times a year and have eaten just about everywhere but this was our first time at GW Fins- it will definitely be on our "repeat" list!
Our service was prompt and fun, they did a great job a remembering my husbands birthday and made him feel special
Whenever we’re in New Orleans GW Finns is a must dining experience. Great service and food.
If you’re craving perfectly prepared moist fresh fish, this is the place! We shared the tuna tartare appetizer and wedge salad, both excellent. My date had the blackened swordfish and I the local drum. Both were cooked to perfection and SO moist! Highly recommended!
I am so glad we decided to go to dinner here on our last night in New Orleans. Everything we ordered was amazing. Smoked mussels tasted even better than drago’s Charbroiled ones. The pork belly was delicious. For entrees we had the scalibut and a salad and both were impressive. If we go back to New Orleans this will definitely be the first place we go back to.
Great meal and experience
Service is excellent food is the best in New Orleans
We have eaten at all the best known restaurants in New Orleans and this could be the best of the best. Our server, Fallon, was fantastic and a great help on selecting the right dishes. We look forward to our next visit and a return to this wonderful cuisine.
Brought in our fresh fish we caught that morning and the Chef preparation is incredible. Doug took care of our requests and the entire staff were great.
Service was great, but the food wasn’t really good. Felt like I was eating food from red lobster. You could tell it was pre made or frozen and just heated up in a hot oven and served. Main course was only thing fresh and fish was bland and fishy. It’s a tourist spot mixed with an older crowd. Place has ran its course.
Exceptional in every way. Great food and drinks. Great service and ambiance... it’s easily one of the best places to dine in NOLA.
Amazing food and top notch service! I highly recommend this place when you are in New Orleans! The tuna entree and the sea scallop entree were very flavorful and delicious. Can't wait to come back!
Superb, as usual.
