GW Fins Ratings and Reviews
Beautiful and warmly decorated for Christmas with a more modern twist then others.
Very good service not on the level of Commander’s but adequate and friendly.
Our server seemed to love her job and loved to engage with her clients. (Falen was her name and her very capable assistant Omar did a wonderful job). They were very professional.
Best seafood gumbo in the city hands down! The fin wings appetizer was unique but well worth the adventure.
I think the menu changes daily. However, if you want any type of seafood that is NOT fried...no one in the world can do it better than this chef.
The Swordfish, shrimp and mashed potatoes was creative and incredible. The blackened swordfish was the perfect texture and temperature.
The red snapper and etouffe was equally wonderful and hearty.
The shrimp remoulade was better than average but no where near the best in the city.
If you like fish this is a MUST go to place.
Food was very good. Service was very good although our server was a little confused on menu descriptions. The hosts at the front were less than friendly. We were early for our reservation and they told us to go wait elsewhere in a less than friendly manner. Not a huge deal. However, first impressions matter.
Absolutely delicious! The scalibut (halibut topped with scallops) was one of the best dishes I have ever tasted. The brussel sprout flakes and white sweet potatoes were both very tasty. The filet was also very good. Service was slow to start but soon improved to exceed our expectations. We can’t go to NOLA without having dinner at Fins. Their wine list is extensive with something for everyone. We made a reservation and asked for a table by the window. The staff was eager to please so the owner personally updated us on the status of our table while we waited. G W Fins is rated #1 for a reason....don’t miss out on dining here!
This is one of the top restaurants I have been to- from service, to wait staff, desert, wine and ambiance it hits all stars. We enjoyed a glass of wine in the bar prior to dinner, then moved to a smaller quiet room for dinner. We enjoyed lobster dumplings ( highly recommended), John Dory fish and King Salmon. Flavors were incredible. The chef does a great job with presentation.
Be sure to make reservations well in advanced of your visit or you won’t get in. Plan ahead in order to enjoy this well managed, well run and amazing seafood restaurant! A must while in New Orleans!
There's a lot of charm in the French Quarter, and there's dozens of places that have their own niche or quirks that make them must visits when you're in town, but GW Fins rises above all that, and not just for this city, but for fine dining in general. Great, creative but simple food and a friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff. Not just my favorite restaurant in NOLA, but one of my favorite restaurants in the world. The wait is worth it, every time.
We sat at the bar and the service was great and food was excellent. The bartenders were attentive and provided lots of input on our choices as we proceeded through 4-5 small plates. Only beef is that the bar area gets crowded with folks that bump and nudge you, many of whom also some smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke.
This was certainly one of the best meals I have enjoyed, period. We tried selections from every part of the menu, and everything was fresh and expertly prepared. They also served possibly the best Sazerac I have ever experienced. I look forward to going again
Excellent meal - excellent service - best meal and dining experience in New Orleans for us - it was our first visit to NOLA and thus was the first dinner out we had - our experience set the bar high and no other restaurant cleared that bar - we will definitely be back!
Great meal. This most recent experience at GW Fins reinforced our belief that this is our favorite New Orleans restaurant. From the thoughtful advice at the bar re: wine and craft cocktail recommendations through the great recommendation of bread pudding for dessert, service was top notch. Our server, Scott, was friendly, professional, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The vaunted biscuits may have been "best ever" - piping hot, flaky, and flavorful. Our starters of scallops (new menu item) and the Shrimp Remoulade salad were delightful. The blackened swordfish and Pesto gnocchi entrees were terrific, and the white chocolate and caramel bread pudding was a wonderful shareable dessert.
We're already looking forward to our next visit!
