GW Fins Ratings and Reviews
There's a lot of charm in the French Quarter, and there's dozens of places that have their own niche or quirks that make them must visits when you're in town, but GW Fins rises above all that, and not just for this city, but for fine dining in general. Great, creative but simple food and a friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff. Not just my favorite restaurant in NOLA, but one of my favorite restaurants in the world. The wait is worth it, every time.
We sat at the bar and the service was great and food was excellent. The bartenders were attentive and provided lots of input on our choices as we proceeded through 4-5 small plates. Only beef is that the bar area gets crowded with folks that bump and nudge you, many of whom also some smelled very strongly of cigarette smoke.
Excellent meal - excellent service - best meal and dining experience in New Orleans for us - it was our first visit to NOLA and thus was the first dinner out we had - our experience set the bar high and no other restaurant cleared that bar - we will definitely be back!
Great meal. This most recent experience at GW Fins reinforced our belief that this is our favorite New Orleans restaurant. From the thoughtful advice at the bar re: wine and craft cocktail recommendations through the great recommendation of bread pudding for dessert, service was top notch. Our server, Scott, was friendly, professional, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu. The vaunted biscuits may have been "best ever" - piping hot, flaky, and flavorful. Our starters of scallops (new menu item) and the Shrimp Remoulade salad were delightful. The blackened swordfish and Pesto gnocchi entrees were terrific, and the white chocolate and caramel bread pudding was a wonderful shareable dessert.
We're already looking forward to our next visit!
GW Finns was outstanding. Our server was great she made great recommendations for dinner as well as wines.
The food was so good, I had the scallops, very tender and the mushroom sauce was great. We had a shrimp appetizer that was delicious. The atmosphere was incredible! I would highly recommend this restaurant.
This food and service in this restaurant is very outstanding. The staff work well together and pay attention to your every need but not intrusive at all. We were seated by Shirley who was a very nice young lady. Then our waiter Marlon who made the evening very enjoyable explained and knew the menu very well. His back up servers Dave and the rest brought the different portions of our meal like clockwork. Now the food, my wife had the John Dory and I the #1 Blue Fin Tuna both were cooked to perfection, nice portion size and were delicious. Lots of chatter noise but you could hear each other easily but it's expected in a restaurant like this that is so outstanding and keeps full constantly.
Was the first visit to GW Fins as I had heard many people say that it was outstanding restaurant. The ambiance of the restaurant was great. Service was good, polite staff. Waiter explained dishes well. Pre-dinner drinks were great and the appetizer seafood gumbo was very good. We ordered the catch of the day "Australian fish" and I had heard a lot about the Grouper so we ordered that also. While presented well I was somewhat disappointed in both dishes. It was good but I felt very little extra flavor that you would expect. I was looking for that Wow factor but it never happened. It was good you could taste the fish itself but again just didn't pop out at you or make you feel like I have to come back for this. So I was a little disappointed especially from the buildup and what I was anticipating. I will give it another try but they are going to have to win me over in order for me to have a high recommendation of the restaurant, they have one more chance.
The best meal we had during our time in New Orleans. My wife and I had a very romantic anniversary dinner. Only thing better than the food was Marlin our waiter. He was so personable that we didn't have to ask for anything. He was so impressive that we tried to acknowledge him by asking his manager to come over. Manager didn't act as enthusiastic as we were about the waiters exceptional care.
I reserved this restaurant based on the great reviews I read on Trip Advisor....and it was conveniently close to our hotel. Our experience exceeded our expectations of your restaurant. We were celebrating our anniversary...and upon arrival, found that we had a special table waiting for us. There was a menu made especially for our anniversary. Our waiter, Gary...provided excellent service. Our meal was fantastic! Dessert was delicious as well! I would highly recommend your restaurant...thank you for making our celebration a very pleasant and memorable occasion 😊
We had a wonderful dinner at GW Fins! Hostess area could be more friendly, but our bartender and our server, Aaron R and everyone after that was great!!! This is a seafood place, and everyone in our party really loved what the got. I think the menu changes a lot, so check the menu before you go!
