Wonderful food and service
As always GW Fins did not fail to impress. Everything we've had on their menu has been amazing and we've been many times always ordering something different. This time Doug recommended a new wine he bought for the restaurant and it went perfectly with our meal. From the biscuits to crispy pork belly to the Scalibut to the chocolate martini...it's all amazing! The staff is always very attentive and very friendly. This is by far our favorite place to dine.
The food was amazing and the service was even better thanks so much
Fantastic. Food was delicious and the service excellent. We ordered yellowfin tuna and scallops, both options were superb.
Kio is a very professional front of the house guy. Our server Fallon gave excellent service with a side of humor. All employees followed excellent rules of pandemic. Our favorite New Orleans restaurant.
Great food and service. Went for 25th anniversary and loved it, biscuits are incredible.
One of the most AMAZING food experiences we have ever had! Our server, Jason, was extremely knowledgeable about the entire menu and made recommendations that were delicious! The lobster dumplings and pork belly are a must try! We will definitely be going back next time we are in New Orleans!
👍👍👍 la comida excelente, el servicio excepcional el ambiente Perfecto, que más puedo pedir
We had an amazing dinner and enjoyed having Marlin as our server again for the night. From the time you walk in till you leave you are treated like totality. The food is so fresh and the knowledge of the dishes by the staff has you tasting it as they explain them. We are looking forward to dining with GW Fins soon.
I have eaten at GW Fins twice in 10 days. It is an outstanding restaurant. I love how the chef is constantly changing the menu.
Also great service by the entire staff.
Everything was AMAZING!! The service is off the charts from the moment you walk in and until the second you walk out everyone is extremely friendly. Marlon was our server and he’s one of a kind. The food is next level!!
My girlfriend and I had an excellent meal at G.W. Fins to celebrate her 31st birthday. The service was awesome as was the food. I recommend the parmesan crusted sheepshead and the tuna tartar. Will definitely be back soon.
Excellent service, food and experience!
Birthday was spectacular
Food was great as usual! Loved being in the small room with only 3 tables.
Food and service were amazing. It was our first visit but, will not be our last. Can’t wait to go back!
The best seafood and service - we highly recommend it. The Scalibut never disappoints.
One of the best restaurants in New Orleans! A diamond in the rough!
Highly recommend food service were great looking forward to going back.
We loved eating here for our first time. Warm friendly service abs delicious food. We felt very safe as well and distanced from the people around us. Highly recommend this restaurant!!!
Completely amazing dinner for one night in NOLA- best fish we’ve had in years !
GWFins is where we go for world class dining in New Orleans and it never fails to delight. Excellent wine recommendations followed by tender lobster dumplings in a subtle but rich sauce. My husband had blackened triple fin with mashed potatoes and spinach which was as excellent as my sheepshead with a delectably crisp parmesan coating. Both were moist and memorable. Service was attentive with just the right amount of New Orleans fun. We were seated in the raised area against the back wall overlooking the main floor. All the tables between us and the main area were empty and discretely signed as providing the requisite Covid-19 distancing. We felt more "protected" here than eating in the many outdoor venues in town.
We were visiting NOLA with my husband from New Mexico and we were also celebrating our 5th anniversary. I was looking for a place which could offer us the best sea food New Orleans can offer and also a nice atmosphere. GW Fins kept coming up with great reviews so I made a reservation with a note about our anniversary. When we arrived our table was nicely decorated and our server knew about our anniversary. She was absolutely amazing, knowledgeable, friendly but still professional. She told us about every fish we wanted to know and what to expect from the meal. Everything we ordered was exquisite and I believe that whatever you order you won’t be disappointed. They brought us a little complimentary dessert at the end. We truly had unforgettable dinner and will be definitely coming back to GW Fins on our next trip to NOLA.
Visited GW Fins for a business dinner. I never go wrong by going here. Always good food and good service. In this COVID time, with many of New Orleans' great restaurants closed, or on some unusual schedule, Fins was an easy choice that I knew wouldn't disappoint.
Food is always great and the service is excellent. I always try to go to Fins when in New Orleans.
I have looked forward to dining at GG Fins for a couple of years and the entire experience exceeded my high expectations !!!
Place was amazing . The best risotto I’ve ever had!
Wonderful service, wonderful food!! Great date night or celebration spot
Five-star NOLa restaurant without white gloves. It's been in the French Quarter for decades but still has the ambience and décor of a new wave boutique. Professional wait staff, friendly hostess. Professional bar, had Buffalo Trace (not listed on the cocktail list) with a generous pour. I had a second drink, an Old Fashioned that was well done, a good combination of a strong bourbon buzz and a hint of sweetness. Draper would have approved. As in all NOLa establishments, even the dives, a no-nonsense drink from a city that takes recreational alcohol seriously.
Had the straight-up recommendations because we don't get here often. Crispy snapper belly outstanding, with the spiky fins giving a great presentation (seen on the website menu) and generous thick slab of meat behind it. Asian slaw underneath was a tasty accompaniment. She had oysters, nice decent-sized ones, subtly grilled without the garlic parmesan slather you get a block away (up the street at Acme's and Felix's, which I love btw).
For an entreé she had their go-to dish, the 'scalibut,' a chunk of perfectly grilled halibut with scallops and risotto. Not having the dish in front of me I couldn't tell you where the scallops were but I got to taste the halibut - an act of love because she proclaimed that GW Fins ruined her for halibut anywhere else. I had straight-up blacked swordfish with mashed potatoes and spinach. Yeah, not very adventuresome given the variety of choices on the menu but I didn't order steak, right? Well, it was perfectly done and exactly what I wanted from a New Orleans seafood restaurant.
No dessert. So three drinks, two of them calls, two appetizers, two entreés. I was expecting $250, got away with $150, before tip, for the best meal of the trip.
One post-script. Ran into an old friend at GW Fins, the NOLa variant of the old maxim that if you go to Times Square you'll run into someone you know.
Everything was outstanding!
wonderful staff, Brenda was our server. Beautiful dining area, social distancing in place. scallops dinner was superb. highly recommend
Everything was delicious! We felt safe and spaced out
We celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary at GW Finn's on Saturday night. This is what fine dining in New Orleans is all about. We arrived a little early, but were still seated quickly. Staff throughout dinner across the board was exceptional, friendly, and professional without being pretentious. Kudos to Kenny, our server. We ordered a bottle of Moet, which was nicely served and perfectly chilled.
Our appetizers were the seafood gumbo and the barbecue shrimp. My wife declared the gumbo "better than Mr. B's" which is really a master compliment. It had a rich dark roux and plenty of seafood. The Shrimp were excellent, in a sauce created with Abita Amber beer. The goat cheese grits were a nice touch and the sauce lent itself to sopping with one of the fresh, sweet complimentary rolls. The grits lent a slight tendency to saltiness, but if that is the worst thing about a meal, again, no complaint at all.
My wife ordered the red snapper in a shrimp creole sauce with crispy okra: again perfectly presented and tasty. With it being a monthly menu special, there were several bouilliabaisse options; I went with classic French. It had scallops, mussels, clams, shrimp, and half a lobster, with an exceptional saffron sauce that came with a crusted, toasted dipping roll slice.
While we opted out of dessert, the Finn's folks presented us with a special bonbon dessert in honor of the occasion.
One cannot ask a restauranteur for a more memorable dining experience.
One unrelated warning: The Uber driver refused to drop us off at the front of the restaurant, and the app refused to pick us up there, and we were forced to walk a couple of blocks on our own. Be sure you specify to the driver exact pickup location!!
The food and service is spectacular at GW Fin's. We visit New Orleans once a year and we always make sure to make reservations here. Try the fin wings! They can look intimidating but are delicious!
great experience, the food was very delicious and the service was awesome.
Love! Love! Love! Great date night. Food was great as usual.
Lovely dining experience. Service was on point and dinner was served to perfection. Could not have been better.
Birthday, sisters weekend!
Don’t know why, but it’s been a few years since we’ve been to GW’s, but that won’t happen again! The food, (quite innovative, fresh, and not too way out), the service (friendly, most informative, and perfectly timed), and the ambience were all stellar. Kudos to a great combo!
