Excellent as always
We had the scalibut (Halibut with Scallops) and the lobster dumplings, both of which were delicious. The homemade biscuits were also good and the staff would keep bringing hot and fresh ones as long as your plate was empty and you didn't say no.
All four people thought the food was excellent.
GW Fins was recommended to me by several people, so I went in with fairly high expectations. We were in New Orleans for my wife's birthday so upon making the reservation through open table I noted that was the reason for our visit. As we were sat in a booth, which was set for four, I noticed they had spread little plastic stars across the center of the table to denote we were celebrating something. While it was a nice attempt and they did wish my wife happy birthday the stars made the table look messy and dirty. The restaurant seems to have been designed by a 1990s cruise ship interior decorator, because that is what the main dining room felt like. The menus, while filled with local fish, does not seem to have been updated since the same time the space was designed. The food, which was not particularly exciting, was prepared very well and tasted very good. The one thing that truly bothered me about the meal was the rushed service. We received our appetizer less than five minutes from placing our order and before our cocktails arrived. We then received our main course very quickly, well before I was able to select a bottle of wine to go with dinner. We ended up skipping the bottle of wine, because it seemed like they were going to make me leave before finishing it, and just ordering a second round of cocktails. Finally I received my bill almost at the same time as my espresso. I understand dropping the check quickly but the manner in which is was delivered made me feel like I was now in the way and should not enjoy my coffee and time with my wife. While I understand it is a busy restaurant and they want to turn tables rushing guests through dinner is inexcusable in my opinion.
This place was beyond amazing!!! The food alone was worth every dollar and tasted so good! The price was definitely fit for the emaculent service and food you are receiving. I would recommend this place to everyone I know 😋☺️
We had been told to try Fins, if we could get in. I fully understand the difficulty in getting reservations. This is without a doubt the best in NOLA.
Service was impeccable (Allen) ,excellent knowledge of the menu (food and drinks and wine ).Just attentive enough. Despite a late arrival, we were treated as if we were the first table of the evening not the last.
Food was outstanding! Appetizers and entrees were prepared excellently.
Without a doubt the new #1 on our list, and we go to NOLA 3-4 times per year.
Outstanding restaurant. Will definitely return. Huge selection of wines by the glass.
Cannot say anything negative about this restaurant. A must go if you like seafood.
It was fantastic pure food, unlike many other restaurants. GW Fins is now my favorite NOLA place.
We spent the weekend with my brand new dna siblings!
Ancestry did the math.
We had the blast!!
Your restaurant is exemplary.
Our entire experience was top notch. We arrived early and the wonderful hostess made accommodations to seat us early. She placed confetti on the table for my boyfriends birthday and gave him personalized menu as a gift.
Our waitress Ashley was equally lovely. Got awesome Recommendations for places to visit by one of the bus boys. All around this was a great place for a beautiful dinner in New Orleans. Oh and I forgot to mention the food! We licked our plates clean it was so good! The lobster dumplings and the Scalibut is a MUST get!
Thank you to the staff at GW Fins& keep doing what you’re doing!
Best meal we had in New Orleans! The food was excellent, and the service was top notch. Try the "Scallubut" entree, you won't be disappointed.
It was delicious as always!! We were seated right away. The service was impeccable!! I eat here every chance I get when I’m visiting New Orleans!! It’s one of my favorite restaurants!!
Excellent food as always. Unfortunately, we were seated in a small darker side room with little ambiance (compared to the main dining room with it’s large windows). Service was great.
We make it to New Orleans every year .
We believe this city is perfect for foodies. It offer the best cuisine in the US. We without question include this restaurant as one of our favorites.
The seafood is prepared perfectly and is the freshest of the day. I owned a fine dining restaurant and we had a daily seafood market menu- we told our customers don’t confuse fresh with flown in daily. We only selected suppliers on One day trips to shore.
Every dish was exceptional. Even the desserts. Despite being known for seafood my daughter ordered steak and it was delicious also. Can’t wait to go back!
Great way to celebrate a wedding anniversary. The menu had great selection and great value. The staff was tremendous. We will return.
Very good restaurant! Def get lobster dumplings and bbq shrimp!!!
Remains one of our favorite places in town. Food is always terrific. Service as expected- terrific as well.
The food was delicious. The service is top notch.
Don’t be afraid to go out of the recommended and originals. Everything on the menu has great elements.
Don’t forget to try something for dessert.
A wonderful dinner, gracious service, lovely wine. A pleasure from beginning to end
The food was excellent
However we had the reservation and had to wait 20 minutes before being seated
No other restaurant in New Orleans made us wait
Also very noisy
Absolutely superb. Correct service. Wonderful presentation and delightful flavors. I had the seafood ceviche with wonderful citrus flavors and the snapper done perfectly. This was one of my all time favorite dinners.
We were hosting guests from San Francisco who appreciate fine dining. They were highly impressed with the quality of the food, the service and the knowledge of wines that our server exhibited.
We were seated quickly upon arrival. Our server made excellent recommendations for wine pairings and cocktails. The food was delicious!
Outstanding food! We eat here every time we come to New Orleans.
Excellent restaurant with a great wait staff. Nick Banks was one of the best waiters I have ever had the pleasure of having waited on us. He was very knowledgeable of the menu and most attentive to our needs. His service was very exceptional even though the restaurant was extremely busy. We will ask for him on her next visit.
The service was outstanding. The scalibut was perfect. The lobster dumpling was incredible. It was a great dining experience!!
Visited of the top ten rated restaurants in NOLA for dinner during our four day visit. GW Fins was at the top of our list. ambiance in the dinning room is just right, not too crowded yet a cozy feeling. Service was spot on. The Smoked Oysters are worth getting for the presentation and the taste.
I had never been to New Orleans before, and I chose this restaurant based on reviews. I wanted a date night while we were in town for a wedding, and it definitely lived up to the expectations! Our server was very friendly, gave good wine and dinner recommendations, and then let us enjoy our meal. My husband had the Scalibut, which he devoured, and I had the local Drum which was perfectly cooked and delicious. If we come back to New Orleans we would definitely eat here again.
Great, great experience! It was my wife’s BDay and they treated her like a Queen.
Everything was delicious from the hot biscuits to the perfectly prepared fish. Excellent wait staff. Highly recommended
Everything about the restaurant was wonderful: atmosphere, food, knowledgeable friendly staff
We were visiting New Orleans for the first time and it was the perfect place to enjoy a nice dinner on our last night
Excelente atención y muy detallistas
The food was incredible. We lived the pork belly/watermelon and lobster ravioli apps. Favorite for gumbo that we tasted and we had gumbo at every meal we had. The service was phenomenal. Would highly recommend and definitely would go back.
Excellent service and food
Just found our new Most Favorite Restaurant in all of America!!!
Prompt reservation seating. Great ambience and service is excellent from hostess to waterboy to busser to waiter. Appetizers were okay, smoked oysters-cinematic presentation, but customer has to flip them to other side to cook (just a nuisance aspect), gumbo was the least impressive we had during our NO trip. Beet salads were alright, just something missing, nothing stellar. We both had the scalibut and it was excellent. Also tried the cauliflower, also very good. Drinks were average (local beer, so-so house Sauvignon blanc, and French 75 (had better elsewhere). Go for friendly, excellent service with a pleasant atmosphere and solid dinner entrees.
Best fish was John Dory, a delicate white fish flown in 4 times a week from New Zealand!
My wife needs to dine gluten free (it's not a "preference") and was in heaven with the exquisite GF soft shell crab. My red snapper was amazing. The service was personal, friendly, and top notch. We come to GW Finn's every time we visit NOLA, and have always had wonderful dining experiences!
