A-MAZING!!! What an experience that we enjoyed!!! From the appetizers to the dessert, from the menu to the service (phenomenal), everything was just wonderful!!! The Pork Belly was so incredible, the Scalibut couldn’t be topped and the Samoa dessert was just nothing like I’ve ever had before!!! The atmosphere, the service (our waiter was Nick and he was wonderful), the food...everything was FANTASTIC!!!
Excellent food and service. Some of the best food we ate in NOLA.
Best food experience ever!!
This was the best restaurants we experienced in New Orleans (better than our experience the night before at Commander's Palace).
Service and food were fantastic.
All highly recommended
GW Fins is probably the best seafood restaurant in New Orleans. The very best of high end fish options from the Gulf of Mexico and elsewhere are offered with excellent preparation and immaculate service. The sizzling oysters are spectacular. We will return in the near future.
Hands down the best restaurant in Nola by far. Fins has sustained its excellence since it opened almost twenty years ago. Reasonably priced for the quality and chef ingenuity. Their signature dish “scalibut” is just outstanding.
The food is amazing. Would highly recommend any dish -so fresh and wonderfully tasty. This was the first time in a little room off the main dining area. It seems you were more ignored in that room. We were only offered biscuits once -they never came around again. If you taste them -you will know why it was so upsetting to never be offered one again!
Fantastic!! I’ve now eaten there 4-5 times on visits to NEw Orleans, and it is now my standby favorite restaurant...hands down! Great food, creative menu, engaging upbeat staff. Love it!
> The food was very good. The deserts were very good as well.
> The service by staff was excellent, from bus boy to the waitress.
> Did have the following comments on the food.
> -There should have been an even number of lobster dumplings so they could be shared equally.
> -The risotto on the place was way to minuscule to count as a serving, menu said it came with risotto, so
> There was only enough risotto to glue the halibut to the plate. For $38 they could afford to add more
> -The drinks were too small for the price paid. Not a bad price if the drinks were larger.
> -Oysters should have been grilled more and had garlic on them.
> -Good wine selection and reasonably priced.
GW Fins is one of my favorite places to eat in New Orleans. Food and service is always excellent.
Kevin was great and the food was delicious. We enjoyed a little birthday happy, too!
Everything good I heard about this place was 100% true. I would definitely recommend.
From the warm welcome to the descriptive recommendations and charm of our server the service was excellent. The fish wings appetizer (5/5) were a really delicious mix of spicy and sweet. My wife had been looking forward to trying the signature Scallibut (4/5) , but found it a little too moist and not as flavourful or sinfully delicious as my recommended Parmesan Crusted Sheepshead (5/5) which she stole many bites from.
Fish done very well.
Fabulous food, wonderful service, will definitely be back!
Great dining experience! The food and service is beyond excellent! Signature items: sizzling oysters and Scallibut are AMAZING! The whole menu is a masterpiece! Will always be in our list to visit when in NOLA!
We were in the small room and the drunk women next to us were yelling over each other. It made it difficult for the rest of the room to have dinner conversation. The food was good and the service excellent.
Great food, atmosphere and service!
Amazing meal. Had tuna tartare, salmon carpaccio, lobster dumplings (amazing, don't miss it), pork belly (also not to be missed), shrimp remoulade (ok). Scalibut is halibut with scallop crust, excellent. The redfish with chicken skin was also terrific. Our waitress, who I believe her name was Fallon was absolutely excellent. Her knowledge of the menu and how the food is prepared was encyclopedic, and her sensibility about how to take care of customers in a fine dining setting was off the charts. We really enjoyed her taking care of us. We also had the crawfish fritters with pepper jelly, and our desserts were excellent. I would recommend this restaurant as an excellent alternative to old line Creole restaurants if you want a change of pace while in New Orleans. Top notch restaurant, reasonable prices considering this type of dining. Loved it!
Great food, great service!
Fabulous food. Great service. Follow waitstaff’s suggestions. Wonderful dinner.
One of the best meals I have ever had! Service, food, and wine were all amazing.
Attentive service. Delicious food!
We had a wonderful dinner at GW Fins. The lobster dumplings and the parmesan crusted fish were amazing. Also don’t miss the Salty Malty ice cream pie. I wanna go back just for that.
The food was awesome. I need to eat gluten free and I had plenty of options. The staff was very knowledgeable and accommodating.
Wonderful place for a birthday dinner. First-rate service -- friendly, professional, accommodating. Great range of seafood choices, including local fish dishes artfully prepared. Good sized portions, creative presentation, delicious. The lobster raviolis were good, but I would try something else next time. The Redfish was excellent. Along with Peche, our two favorite restaurants.
Best meal we've had in many years. Fallon was our server and she was a pleasure. As many others on the site have said the drop biscuits are perfection. I had the scalibut and, though I seldom order or enjoy fish, ate every bite it was so delicious. My husband had the red snapper and he said it was perfectly cooked. For dessert we had the salty malty pie - it was good, but, on a return visit I'd probably make a different choice because ice cream isn't really my thing, but, despite saying that, I didn't leave anything on my dessert plate. GW Fins is a gastronomical marvel!
Very good experience. You won’t be disappointed!
Well worth the wait of having to book days in advance. A wonderful experience.
After repeatedly seeing it ranked #1 on TripAdvisor as the best restaurant in New Orleans, which obviously sounds like hyperbole in America’s food capital, I took my three daughters there. The meal was incredible. The service was extraordinary. The restaurant was beautiful, with a ambiance and decor that would make it a great romantic place for a date. I think boys who ask my girls out are going to be met with higher expectations!
Our best meal in New Orleans. Superb from the amazing lobster dumpling appetizer to the stellar creme brûlée dessert. Excellent cocktails and impeccable service made it a perfect evening. Will be sure we come here for every New Orleans visit. Truly can’t say enough good things about this restaurant.
I've had the pleasure of eating everywhere in the French Quarter. This is one of the better restaurants. Other than a few minor miscues - GW Fins is an outstanding restaurant.
Our party of four started at the bar and moved on to the dining room. We ordered the "Scalibut", swordfish, scallops, and tuna. Outstanding!
The biscuits are a treat but they only served one per person. We asked three times for more. Finally got one more each.
Ordered Pinot Grigio but it was a no show when the entree was served. They didn't charge us.
Awesome!! A very special and delicious evening! Our favorite dining in NOLA
Went for my wife's birthday and the restaurant found us a great table and made it very festive and provide a token ""cake" with candle.
Food is very good, waitstaff is attentive but our waiter got our order wrong and failed to bring my wife her entree. Other than that, (?) it was flawless dinner
Bar service excellent, wait service very good. Lobster dumplings excellent, pompano fishy in flavor. Wish I tried the scallops instead.
We were visiting New Orleans and I had read about the restaurant on Trip Advisor. The restaurant was very crowded when we arrived so we couldn’t get a drink while we waited for our table. We were promptly seated at our reservation time. The table was lovely and the service was top notch. Our server shared information about the menu, approach, philosophy and made recommendations. Our drinks, salads, and entrees were just delicious! The only downside was the noise level. Although pretty loud it did not spoil the evening at all. We will definitely come back.
From soup to nuts a wonderful experience. (Ironically, the least satisfactory aspect was the highly touted fresh caught blue fin tuna. Just not to my taste.)
The food was wonderful- service impeccable- a wonderful dining experience. Highly recommended
This is one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Jason the server was excellent the atmosphere was terrific and the food was unbelievable!
