This is our second visit. The food and staff are phenomenal.
This was the most unacceptable restaurant experience I have ever had. Our waiter and the manager refused to serve us a bottle of wine claiming one member of my party was “showing signs of inebriation.” This could not have been further from the truth and he was simply tired looking from a long day out in the sun, which I explained to no avail. Nothing was said when we arrived, when the menu was explained, or even when the waiter came for our food order. We obviously walked out and had no issue at the place we eventually dined at. This place will never get my business. Pretentious and snobby do not begin to explain the attitude.
Great takes on Southern inspired seafood. Fresh and tasty. Very complementary wine list by the glass as well as bottles.
My dinner experience was wonderful. Service was exceptional, The food was outstanding. One of the best dinner I have ever had in NOLA. Would go again.
Had their famous scalibut(halibut with scallops on top) 5 years ago and talked about since. Just returned in March of 2020 and had it again and probably will talk about it for another 5 years! Lol.
Amazing food, service, environment, location. What more could you want?
Lobster dumplings and Scalibut are both ever bit as good as all the "best of" restaurant magazines say they are. Scallilbut is a particularly clever dish, using the scallops as a caramel-y crust for the halibut. As fantastic as those two dishes were, the sizzling smoked oysters might have been the best thing I ordered. Presentation was off the charts. Seafood Gumbo - good. Bread pudding (white chocolate) was the best of the three bread puddings I had in NOLA (other two were Brigsten's and Commander's Palace, not lightweight places). Beautiful restaurant and best service I had in NOLA
We celebrated our anniversary. When we got seated and our table had a paper menu rolled with our names on it with a happy anniversary on it. Sometimes it’s just the little things that make a big impression.
An excellent and affordable dining experience. The service and food was above par. I would definitely come back
We had an amazing experience! Jason was our server and it was phenomenal! We were visiting from Canada.. he gave amazing recommendations and was so hospitable!
The food was so good! Especially the lobster dumplings!
Thanks again for the great night!
Wonderful food as always.
The service was excellent and the foods were delicious
My husband and I celebrated my “50-something” birthday here on Saturday March 14th. I had high expectations going in, and the chef and staff exceeded them. Roderick our waiter was especially exceptional. We hope to be back and will highly recommend to all who visit NOLA as a can’t miss dining experience. Thank you for making my birthday extra special.
Best seafood in New Orleans!
Everything was fantastic. Lobster dumpling appetizer is a "don't miss"! Every enjoyable evening.
Very nice meal in a very pretty room with excellent service. You won’t go wrong here.
Belated Valentines date while on Spring Break
Dined at GW Finns for the first time on the recommedation of a friend who said it was the best restaurant she ever ate at. She was right. Wow! What a great meal we had. If you like oysters check out their Sizzling smoked oyster appetizer. It was like no other oyster dish I have ever had. Beautifully presented and absolutely deleicious. I had the Parmesan Crusted Sheepshead which was perfectly prepared and a very generous portion. A fun addition to our table were the Louisiana Crawfish Fritters. Our table of 4 got 2 orders of those and were happy we did. We dined during the beginning of the Coronavirus outbreak. They were doing all they could to clean in between guests wiping down every chair from top to bottom and using one time use paper menus. I will come back to there again next time I visist New Orleans.
All the food was amazing and the service is top notch. Thanks for the best birthday dinner for my husband!!
Food was excellent, as always. Sizzling smoked oysters, the fried shrimp with the blackened Mahi were especially noteworthy.
Service was attentive and friendly, but not pretentious. Perfect for me.
Especially important in these days of corona virus, I note the care they take in sanitizing things we touch (check holders, seats,...) between guests; that combined with the generous space between tables should make GW Fins safe for most.
Food was delish! Such a welcoming staff. The very tall bidder/food runner was the best. He was smart, efficient and knowledgeable. Make his a server!
We were seated timely at a table that was very well placed in the restaurant. Our server had great knowledge of the menu and made suggestions when asked. The food presentation was exceptional. The food was fresh and very flavorful. The prices were very good for what some call the best seafood restaurant in New Orleans. We paid comparable prices at other restaurants and didn't get near the quality of service/food we got at GW Fins.
When we arrived the table was decorated with confetti and a menu was personalized with the special occasion.
The service and food were both exceptional.
We were visiting New Orleans and looking for outstanding seafood, which we found at your restaurant. We had more of the yummy biscuits than we needed, but would do it again!
We were glad to be seated in a side room, which was quiet and well-suited to us as an older couple.
We would definitely return on our next trip.
Our server Tori(elle) with her lovely warm smile and attentiveness was just what was needed on my birthday and first visit to New Orleans. The best French 75 and the food and ambiance were excellent too! I’ll be back when the world gets back to regular programming 😷☺️
Fantastic food and ervice. Paul is an outstanding server.
By far our best meal in New Orleans. The staff were outstanding and great location. So looking forward our return trip.
Consistently spectacular food and superb service. I highly recommend GW Fins to locals and visitors alike!
Great restaurant with a great staff...excellent food and great cocktails!
This was the most outstanding restaurant we experienced while in New Orleans, and we went to a lot of places! Everything was perfect from beginning to end. This is a finer restaurant, so you will want to dress nicely (does not have to be a suit/dress, but nice business casual clothing seemed appropriate) to feel comfortable and enjoy a fantastic experience! The food was just delicious!! Can’t say enough good about this experience.
We celebrated our daughters birthday and couldn’t have selected a better restaurant. The food was excellent, and everyone loved their choices. Especially the oysters grilled in their shells.
Our service was second to none. Every person we interacted with was lovely. We can’t wait to come back to New Orleans and dine again!
Really good restaurant, great value for the price the food was truly delicious and the waiters extremely nice. The Michelin guide does not assess restaurants in Nola but if it did GW fins would be a one star restaurant no doubt.
Ate here for dinner twice during my visit. Food was great, servers were knowledgable. However, our server on the second night was a bit too forward with recommending dishes (when we didn't ask). She talked us out of ordering some dishes, and I honestly wish I hadn't listened. Would have preferred if she only offered advice if we asked for it.
Excellent. Fish was fresh and expertly prepared
Absolutely superb! Food, presentation, service all outstanding. With R'evolution, the best the French Quarter has to offer.
My last review of GW Fins was spectacular; this second review is nothing less. We have celebrated our 50th and now our 51st anniversaries here. Hopefully we will be able to celebrate a few more in New Orleans at GW Fins
We have the lobster ravioli (must order) the tartar (also yummy) the bbq shrimp and grits (yummy) and the carpaccio (meh) for appetizers
I had the gnocchi which was delicious
And my husband had some fish plate I don’t remember but he ate it all.
Food is great service is impeccable. The bar staff are nice and welcoming, the servers are very polite and accommodating. Our waitress was Fallon (I think that’s her name) and she was awesome. I love this place
This was the first time dining at GW Fins for all four of us. One of the members of our group has food allergies (gluten, eggs, nuts), and he was able to find very good choices on the menu. The staff and chef were very accommodating in meeting his needs. The food was excellent, and the service was also excellent. We would definitely recommend GW Fins to anyone looking for a great dining experience in New Orleans!
