Gusto (pronounced Goo-sto) means tasty in Italian. Since opening our doors in 2012, Gusto 101 has been serving up modern takes on Southern Italian classics. As with Trattoria Nervosa in Yorkville, Janet Zuccarini has meshed a passion for creating memorable food with a vision for delivering soulful, transporting dining experiences.

We put as much care and consideration into our food and drink as we do our architecture and design. Located in a repurposed garage in the heart of downtown Toronto, our restaurant has become a neighbourhood gathering place. Whether you’re craving the warmth of a wood-fired grill or a glass of wine on our rooftop patio, we do our best to merge the everyday with the exceptional.

    I heard about the quality of Gusto, so I booked a table for my husband’s birthday and I specifically mentioned that I want to surprise him with a piece of cake and they didn’t pay attention to my note on our reservation! And the place was too hot and it ruined all my expectations!

    I was there for a business lunch and all three of us were very pleased with the food and service. The dishes we had were the peashoot salad with chicken, pasta with mushrooms and truffle and the meatballs with ricotta. Excellent food and good service.

    Service was really bad, they had so many servers but none of them cared enough to check if we have water, the proper utensils, plates to share and all. We’ve had to call them all the time to get water refilled. Our food came and there were no plates/utensils set on the table and we HAD to ask them for it.

    As a group of 4 we decided to order a dish from each section. The pea salad was very fresh and delicious , as was the mushroom risotto. The focaccia was more of an airy bread with no flavour but it was the only disappointment in what was otherwise a delicious meal. Thanks.

    We really enjoyed our dinner at Gusto101. Drinks were good, especially the pitchers of sangria. We were a party of 8, so as a group, we tried several salads, pizzas and pasta dishes. All were delicious. The restaurant itself has a cool vibe and had a lively ambiance. Our server, Lorenzo, was excellent. Very attentive and patient with us.
